Goose Island Campground has garnered high praise from its visitors, with one returning camper noting, "It is more amazing now than ever." This is particularly significant considering a major flood had impacted the grounds earlier in the year, highlighting the resilience and recovery efforts of the campground. The reviewer was impressed by the "views, the sunsets, and moon views," describing them as "next level," indicating a truly spectacular natural setting. The spaciousness of the campsites is also noteworthy, with the camper mentioning ample room for a tent, screen tent, and a large play area for children, even with some fresh-cut grass on the site.
The environment of Goose Island Campground appears to be a major highlight. Its location in Stoddard, Wisconsin, suggests proximity to the Mississippi River or associated backwaters, which often provide stunning scenery and opportunities for wildlife viewing. The availability of "wood" for campfires, described as a "great value," is a significant plus for those wanting to enjoy this quintessential camping experience. The presence of a "general store" on-site provides added convenience, likely offering essential camping supplies, snacks, and other necessities. The campground also sells "fire wood," making it easy for campers to have campfires without having to bring their own.
While the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, one camper noted a specific policy: "They are strict about putting up a tent outside your camper." This is an important piece of information for those traveling with both an RV or camper and wanting to set up a separate tent for additional sleeping space or other purposes. It's advisable to clarify this policy with the campground management when making your reservations.

Goose Island Campground Reviews
Haven't camped here in 10 years and then 10 before that. It is more amazing now than ever. Mind you a big flood had ravaged the grounds earlier in the year. This place was still great. The views, the sunsets, and moon views are next level. Although our "room" was covered in fresh cut grass, it was very spacious and allowed for our tent, screen tent, and a ton of area for the kids to play. The store and office area was staffed by friendly people, and the wood was a great value as well. Would definitely recommend and will be back.
Aug 31, 2024 · Troy AlexanderQuiet camp site with enough space in between units depending where you choose. We were by water with electric not water hookup. Those sites had some space in between which was nice. Bathrooms are very clean for camp site which was appreciated. Fire wood for sale and general store. Enjoyed walking and running the paved areas with and without dog. They are strict about putting up a tent outside your camper.
Sep 22, 2024 · Natasha GirardLovely area, with lots to do if you are an outdoors person i.e. fishing, hiking, sightseeing the Mississippi on WI, IA, MN sides.Biggest complaint, which limited my enjoyment of the park, is those without their dogs on leashes. People assume: everyone enjoys dogs, all dogs get along, kids are safe around all dogs. Secondly, it is a rule for the campground, yet it doesn't apply to them. I think they should be kicked out, no refund end of story. Then people will wake up and follow the rules. We stayed here 7 nights and saw at least 8 dogs loose.
Oct 10, 2024 · Eva ScheppaA fantastic campground on the Mississippi River, a sportsmen's paradise. It has a playground, beach, firewood and a general store. The campsites are spacious and most are not right on top of each other. Been there many times and we'll definitely be back!
Oct 28, 2024 · Mike PCamped for a week prior to a car show/swap meet called Mississippi Mayhem. Packed on Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Out of 300+ sites, they had 182 leave on Monday! Beautiful view of the Mississippi River back waters and hills/mountains behind! The county park site we rented had water and electricity. WIFI is included with an electric site, but youust ask for the password. Great walking paths along the river. There is a small log cabin type building that is your "store" and check in. Employees are around several times daily checking sites for cleanliness and check out times. There was even someone that cleaned out the fire pit! Our friends also booked 3 other sites so we can all be together after the show. Great location-just south of La Crosse. Boat launch is clean and easy.
