Hersheypark Camping Resort Introduce
For local residents and those in the surrounding regions searching for "camping near me" that combines the joys of outdoor recreation with proximity to a major entertainment destination, Hersheypark Camping Resort, located at 1200 Sweet St, Hummelstown, PA 17036, offers a comprehensive camping experience. Situated conveniently close to Hersheypark and other Hershey attractions, this large campground boasts a wide range of amenities and a welcoming atmosphere for families, couples, and individuals alike.
The environment of Hersheypark Camping Resort is designed to accommodate a significant number of campers, with over 250 spots available. Even during peak seasons, the size of the campground suggests a good chance of finding a suitable location. The layout includes a variety of settings, with some campsites located along the river, offering potentially scenic views and a tranquil ambiance. The presence of trees around many sites provides shade and a sense of being immersed in nature. Additionally, the campground features open areas, which, as one reviewer noted, are excellent for stargazing. The ability to park up to two cars directly at some campsites adds to the convenience for those traveling with multiple vehicles or trailers.
Hersheypark Camping Resort provides a comprehensive range of services and amenities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Clean and private bathroom facilities are located throughout the campground, offering convenience and hygiene for all guests. Laundry facilities are also available on-site, which is particularly beneficial for longer stays or families. Each campsite is equipped with essential features such as a picnic table and a fire pit, allowing for outdoor dining and campfires. Electric hookups are standard at each spot, catering to RV campers and those who appreciate having access to power for charging devices or running appliances. The campground also offers a playground for children, making it a family-friendly destination. During warmer months, guests can enjoy a beautiful swimming pool, although it was closed during one reviewer's off-season visit. The campground staff is consistently praised for their friendliness, helpfulness, and genuine interest in ensuring guests have a memorable stay, from check-in to providing information about the local attractions and campground layout.
A notable feature of Hersheypark Camping Resort is the variety of accommodation options available. Beyond traditional RV and tent sites, the campground also offers small log cabins for rent. These cabins provide a more sheltered and potentially more comfortable alternative to tent camping, appealing to those who prefer a solid structure while still enjoying the campground atmosphere. The specific amenities within these cabins are not detailed in the reviews but likely include beds and possibly other conveniences. The availability of these cabins broadens the appeal of the resort to a wider range of visitors.
The reviews consistently highlight the exceptional quality of the staff at Hersheypark Camping Resort. Guests describe them as friendly, welcoming, accommodating, and understanding of campers' needs. The staff is portrayed as being genuinely interested in making each stay enjoyable and memorable, from providing information at check-in to organizing activities for children. This focus on customer service is a significant feature that sets this campground apart, as the positive interactions with staff contribute greatly to the overall camping experience.
While the proximity to Hersheypark and other Hershey attractions is a major draw, one potential consideration for some guests is the campground's location near railroad tracks. One reviewer noted that train noise can be noticeable, especially at campsites closer to the tracks. However, they also mentioned that they did get used to the trains passing by, and that children might even find it exciting. When booking, it might be worth inquiring about campsite locations relative to the railroad tracks if noise sensitivity is a concern.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. However, given its association with a major tourist destination like Hersheypark, it is likely that Hersheypark Camping Resort may offer packages that combine accommodation with park tickets or other local attractions. Local users and those planning a visit to Hersheypark should inquire about any such deals or seasonal promotions when making reservations. Booking in advance is generally recommended, especially during peak seasons or holidays, to secure a preferred campsite or cabin.
For local residents seeking a "camping near me" experience that offers a wide range of amenities, a family-friendly environment, and exceptional customer service, Hersheypark Camping Resort is an excellent choice. Its large size ensures ample space, and the combination of RV sites with hookups, tent sites, and cabin rentals caters to various accommodation preferences. The presence of clean facilities, a playground, and a seasonal pool adds to the appeal. While the nearby railroad tracks are a factor to consider, the overall positive experiences highlighted in the reviews, particularly the friendly and accommodating staff, make this campground a highly recommended destination for a memorable getaway near Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Hersheypark Camping Resort Reviews
Traveling cross country, Hersey was on our list, so we figured off season the camp grounds would have space but we made a reservation anyway while a couple hours away. The girl at the desk was friendly and nice, she gave us information on the parks what’s closed and what’s open. Explained the space and where everything was.TheIs is a good size campground with over 250 spots, it was about 25% full, so getting a perfect spot was easy. There are bathrooms and laundry through the campground. The bathrooms are clean and private showers. Each spot comes with a picnic table and a fire pit and electric hookup. There are a few spots along the river and a playground d for kids. They also have small log cabins through the grounds. The pool was closed when we were here but it looked like a beautiful spot to spend the day in the heat.I do have to mention that it is on the Railroad tracks and can be noisy, our first spot was close to the tracks and we did get use to them coming by. Kids will love it.
Mar 29, 2025 · bostonh2oIf you camp enough you know that the one thing that matters more than anything is the people. I can tell you without a doubt that the people at Hershey Park Camping Resort are the best people to interact with. They are friendly, welcoming, accommodating and they understand campers. Everyone I spoke with there was only interested in making our stay enjoyable and memorable. From the checkin to the activities for the kids this place is built for enjoyment. The amenities and sites are also great but the cherry on top is the staff (shout out to Lisa B. who is a rock star).
Apr 19, 2025 · Robert SnelgroveThis campground is calm, close to Hershey Park and walking distance to the shopping areas nearby. I would say that coming in a car and using a car to get around is much better to explore the area and get the full experience. Called the front desk and got an immediate answer and checking out was a breeze. Getting to the campground was very very scary at night if you take sandy road ( believe that's the name )so make sure to get there early. The shower was pretty small and the bathroom in general, the kitchen area ( the stove) needs to be relabeled so that it's clear if the stove is on high or low. But overall, I recommend it. There was a problem with the TV and we couldn't screen cast or connect our phones. The arcade was so fun!
Apr 15, 2025 · Ava DOur family has been to the Hershey Camping Resort a number of times and we are never disappointed. We stayed in a 1 bedroom cabin this visit and it was great! We really liked having our own bathroom and shower and we saved money by cooking in the cabin. The beds were nicer than the ones in the rustic cabins. Staff is always very kind and helpful.
Nov 21, 2024 · Tricia VallelyReally nice RV park. There's a variety of sites for a variety of needs including several sizes of cabins. Bath houses are super clean and spacious. Lots of activities, store and propane available.
