Another guest expressed their love for the place, specifically mentioning the "fantastic" pool and the "great" food at the restaurant. The convenience of having a store, bar, and restaurant on the premises was also highlighted as a major advantage, making it so that guests "don't want to leave the resort for anything." This suggests that Highbanks Marina & Camp Resort aims to be a self-contained destination, offering a wide range of amenities to cater to the needs and desires of its guests. Furthermore, the reviewer noted that shopping and other everyday conveniences are located at the end of the road, providing the best of both worlds – a resort-like atmosphere with easy access to off-site necessities.
Environment and Ambiance:
The address, "488 W Highbanks Rd, DeBary, FL," places Highbanks Marina & Camp Resort in the Central Florida region, likely near the St. Johns River, given the name "Marina" and its proximity to HIGHBANKS CAMPGROUND (located at a nearby address). This suggests a waterfront or near-waterfront setting, potentially offering scenic views, access to boating and fishing, and the natural beauty associated with the St. Johns River ecosystem. The environment could feature a mix of open areas for campsites and RVs, as well as potentially shaded or wooded sections with typical Florida vegetation.
The presence of a marina implies that the resort caters to boaters, likely offering docking facilities and potentially other services related to boating. This could contribute to a lively yet relaxed atmosphere, with the activity of boats coming and going adding to the waterfront ambiance. The "fantastic pool" mentioned in the review suggests a recreational focus, providing a place for guests to relax and cool off, enhancing the resort-like feel.
The combination of natural surroundings (potentially the river and local flora and fauna) with the on-site amenities (store, bar, restaurant, pool) creates an ambiance of convenience and leisure. Guests can enjoy the outdoors and the waterfront while having easy access to services that enhance their comfort and enjoyment.
Services and Amenities:
Based on the customer reviews, Highbanks Marina & Camp Resort offers a compelling array of services and amenities:
- Exceptional Service: The helpfulness of the staff, as highlighted in the phone recovery incident, indicates a commitment to excellent guest service.
- Marina Facilities: The name suggests docking for boats, potentially including services such as boat slips, fuel, and supplies (though not explicitly detailed).
- Fantastic Pool: A significant recreational amenity for guests to enjoy.
- Great On-site Restaurant: Providing convenient dining options with positive feedback on the food quality.
- On-site Store: Offering the convenience of purchasing essentials, snacks, and potentially boating or camping supplies without leaving the resort.
- On-site Bar: Providing a place for socializing and enjoying drinks without having to travel off-site.
- Proximity to Shopping: Located near the end of the road, offering easy access to off-site shopping and everyday conveniences.
While not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, a camp resort typically also offers standard camping amenities such as restrooms, showers, water hookups, and potentially electrical and sewer hookups for RVs. Tent camping areas might also be available. Given the marina aspect, there might also be services related to boat maintenance or rentals (though boat rentals were mentioned at the nearby HIGHBANKS CAMPGROUND, so it's not certain if they are also offered directly at the marina resort).
Local users should contact the resort directly to confirm the availability of specific camping amenities and marina services based on their individual needs.
Features and Highlights:
The standout features of Highbanks Marina & Camp Resort are its exceptional service, the convenience of having a store, bar, and restaurant on-site, and the fantastic pool. The marina aspect, while details are limited, suggests excellent access for boaters to the St. Johns River. The proximity to off-site shopping adds another layer of convenience, making it easy for guests to manage any needs that might arise during their stay.
The positive reviews emphasize both the quality of the amenities (great food, fantastic pool) and the helpfulness of the staff, suggesting a well-run and guest-focused resort.
For those looking for a camping or marina experience where many needs are met within the resort itself, Highbanks Marina & Camp Resort appears to be an ideal choice. The combination of recreational facilities (pool), dining and social options (restaurant, bar), and essential services (store) creates a self-contained environment that many guests appreciate.
The location in DeBary, near the St. Johns River, also provides access to the natural beauty and recreational opportunities of the river, although the reviews focus more on the on-site conveniences than the natural environment itself.
Promotional Information and Considerations:
Highbanks Marina & Camp Resort can be effectively promoted to local users as a premier "camping near me" destination in the DeBary area, emphasizing its exceptional service and unparalleled convenience. The on-site store, bar, and restaurant make it a unique offering, allowing guests to relax and enjoy their getaway without the need for extensive off-site travel for basic needs or dining.
Highlighting the "fantastic pool" and the marina facilities (for boating enthusiasts) will attract a wide range of visitors. The positive testimonials regarding service and the quality of the food should be prominently featured in promotional materials.
Marketing efforts could focus on the "all-in-one" nature of the resort, emphasizing that guests can enjoy a complete vacation experience without leaving the premises if they choose. The proximity to the St. Johns River should also be mentioned as an added benefit for those interested in water activities.
For local residents looking for a weekend escape or a longer stay with resort-style amenities and easy access to the river, Highbanks Marina & Camp Resort offers a compelling package. The convenience of nearby shopping also makes it practical for longer stays or for those who need to replenish supplies.

Highbanks Marina & Camp Resort Reviews
Service is absolutely amazing. The lady and gentlemen in the store were absolutely helpful when we dropped a phone in the water next to the dock. They were able to provide us with a rope and a magnet. Which helped to recover the phone. Thank you.
Dec 20, 2024 · Steven FulladosaLove this place. The pool is fantastic. The food at the restaurant is great. The convenience to having a store , bar and restaurant there makes it so you don't want to leave the resort for anything. At the end of the road is shopping and everything you would normally have at home.
Oct 28, 2024 · Carol CrosseyLAWSUIT IN PROGRESSDo yourself a favor and pay $100 less and go to Princess RV resort in Orlando. This place discriminates heavily against young people as stated in many other reviews. If you are not above the retirement age you are not welcomed. Even kids. I don’t want to go on a whole rant about my terrible experience but to sum it up, They watch you like hawks to find one little thing they can argue with you about even though they do it themselves. They over charge for electric prices. You will not get your deposit back. All staff is rude and talk over you and don’t let you express what’s going on. I am having a lawyer look into all of this fraud and treatment I experienced.
Sep 17, 2024 · Haley LynneWe spent two days here and it was very quiet and peaceful. The pool is newly completed and a gorgeous way to spend the day. We enjoyed walking around the park and stopped in at the club house/bathhouse. The clubhouse has a large room, which is nice for a get-together, and the lending library has a vast collection of books. The bathhouse was always clean and bright with plenty of hot water. The marina area is nice to sit and watch the water, boats, and wildlife.
Jun 13, 2023 · Onara GarciaWhat a lovely campground. Not a lot to do for kids but a great little gem for adults and this newly retired happy camper. Linda (office) and Mary (security) were so friendly and helpful. The newly finished pool is beautiful and the restaurant and marina on site are great additions to this campground. We will be eating dinner one night (at least) at the swamp house grill which I hear is wonderful and looking forward to our small boat tour on the water by St. John’s Eco tours that is coming up. Those reviews to come! So excited for the adventures and living the dream.
