River Forest Group Camping Introduce
For local users in the DeLand, Florida area searching for "camping near me," particularly those planning group outings or gatherings, River Forest Group Camping, located at 45700 River Forest Blvd, DeLand, FL 32720, USA, offers a welcoming and well-regarded option. You can reach them by phone at (352) 625-2520 or their mobile number +1 352-625-2520 for inquiries and reservations.
Based on positive feedback from visitors, River Forest Group Camping stands out as a "very nice place" that is particularly well-suited for group events. One reviewer specifically mentioned hosting a meetup for senior women campers and found it to be a "great place to hold a gathering." This suggests that the campground is equipped to accommodate larger groups and provides an environment conducive to social interaction and shared activities.
A significant highlight of River Forest Group Camping is the exceptional camp host. One reviewer described the host as "wonderful," indicating that guests can expect friendly and helpful service during their stay. The presence of an attentive and supportive host can greatly enhance the overall camping experience, providing assistance and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable visit for group organizers and participants alike.
The campground features a "very nice" screened-in pavilion. This is a valuable amenity for group gatherings, providing a sheltered space for dining, meetings, or other activities, while also offering protection from insects. A screened pavilion can significantly increase the comfort and usability of the common areas, especially in the Florida climate, making it a key feature for group events.
For those interested in fishing, River Forest Group Camping offers proximity to water suitable for fishing. One review mentions that "The water for 🐠🐟🐠 is near the pavilion," indicating convenient access for anglers within the camping area. This adds another dimension to the outdoor activities available at the campground, particularly for groups that include fishing enthusiasts.
While the overall experience at River Forest Group Camping is positive, one reviewer noted that "The road coming in could use the big potholes filled in." This is a point of consideration for those with larger vehicles or trailers, as the road conditions might present a minor inconvenience. However, the same reviewer also mentioned that "you can get a big rig in here," although it might be necessary to "park close to the gate" due to the road conditions further into the campground. This suggests that while accessible to larger RVs, caution and potentially a shorter distance to the actual campsites might be required.
It is important for visitors to be aware of the local wildlife. There have been "some bear sightings" in the area. While one reviewer personally had not seen a bear, the presence of bears is acknowledged, with evidence such as a "present with berry seeds in it" being found. Campers should take necessary precautions for food storage and wildlife safety, as is common in areas where bears are present, to ensure a safe and uneventful stay.
Another reviewer who visited with their team described their experience as "excellent camping" and "one of the best camping trips we have ever done." They specifically praised "Mr. Michael and his wife" for being "very attentive and excellent people," further highlighting the positive impact of the campground staff on the guest experience. The strong recommendation from this visitor underscores the potential for a memorable and enjoyable group camping trip at River Forest Group Camping.

Its key features include a wonderful camp host, a very nice screened-in pavilion for group activities, and proximity to fishing opportunities. While the access road may have some potholes, it is still accessible to large RVs with some parking considerations. Campers should also be mindful of potential bear sightings and take appropriate safety measures. The consistently positive feedback regarding the staff and the suitability for group events makes this campground a strong contender for those planning a collective outdoor experience.
The environment of River Forest Group Camping appears to be natural and conducive to outdoor activities, given the mention of wildlife and fishing. The presence of a pavilion suggests a designated area for communal gatherings, likely surrounded by the natural landscape of the DeLand area. While specific details about the terrain, vegetation, or other natural features are not extensively described, the overall impression is of a pleasant and suitable setting for camping and group activities.

River Forest Group Camping Reviews
Very nice place. The camp host is wonderful. We are at a meetup for Senior women campers. Great place to hold a gathering. The road coming in could use the big potholes filled in, but you can get a big rig in here. You would just have to park close to the gate. The pavilion is very nice. It's screened in. There have been some bear sightings. Personally I haven't seen one, but they are around. The water for 🐠🐟🐠 is near the pavilion. The bear left a present with berry seeds in it on the ground, see picture.

Oct 09, 2023 · S ZSuch a beautiful and amazing campsite along the St. John's river. The campground was so spacious, had an amazing dining pavilion with electricity and upgraded bathhouses. The campsite hosts Mitchell and Diane kept the grounds in fantastic shape and were so helpful during our stay. I highly recommend this site for your next group camping.
Jun 02, 2023 · EA SFLThis is a really nice group campground. Your group will have the entire campground to yourselves. It's on the St. John's river. The bathrooms and showers are kept really clean by the hosts. The hosts are kind and helpful. There are areas covered with awesome large oak trees with plenty of shade. There are other areas wide open. The pavillion is screened in, has ceiling fans, and at least one electrical outlet. You may fill up a water tank, but not really a water hookup. There are water faucets throughout the campground. There are no hookups.
