Covered Bridge Campground, located on Passaconaway Rd in Albany, offers a charming and nature-focused retreat. If you're browsing for "camping near me" and value a serene environment, proximity to natural attractions like rivers and hiking trails, and a more rustic camping experience, Covered Bridge Campground could be your ideal getaway.
The environment surrounding Covered Bridge Campground is highly praised by reviewers. Its location "perfectly situated between the Swift River and Boulder Loop Trail" highlights its prime access to natural beauty and outdoor activities. The Swift River offers opportunities for enjoying the water, whether it's for scenic walks along its banks, fishing (subject to regulations), or simply enjoying the soothing sounds of a flowing river. The proximity to the Boulder Loop Trail, as well as other hiking spots in the White Mountains, makes it an excellent base for those looking to explore the area's scenic trails. Reviewers note the presence of "many private sites especially on the Boulder loop trail side," suggesting a sense of seclusion and immersion in nature. While "no cell reception" is mentioned, this can be a significant advantage for those seeking a true escape from the digital world and a chance to fully connect with their surroundings. The campground is also described as "close enough to town that if you forgot something civilization isn’t too far," offering a balance between natural isolation and convenience. The water at the campground is described as "delicious," and the manual pumps are even enjoyed as a nostalgic feature. For those seeking "camping near me" with a focus on natural beauty, privacy, and access to hiking and river environments, Covered Bridge Campground offers an appealing setting.
Covered Bridge Campground offers a more basic and rustic camping experience, as indicated by the mention of "vault toilets." While one reviewer noted not loving them, they also acknowledged that they "were clean" and well-maintained. This suggests that while not modern flushing toilets, the facilities are kept in good order. The availability of "water" via pumps is another service provided, offering a source of potable water for campers. The hosts are described as "friendly and helpful," indicating a positive and supportive atmosphere at the campground. The fact that the campground is considered "safe for kids" suggests a family-friendly environment, despite the more rustic amenities. A significant feature mentioned is the emphasis on peace and quiet; the review states, "If you want to play music or party don’t come here," indicating a campground that values tranquility and respect for fellow campers. The availability of "private sites" is a key feature, offering a more secluded and intimate camping experience compared to campgrounds with closely spaced sites.
A primary feature of Covered Bridge Campground is its exceptional location between the Swift River and the Boulder Loop Trail, providing immediate access to hiking and river activities. The privacy offered by many of the campsites, particularly on the Boulder Loop Trail side, is a significant draw for those seeking a more secluded "camping near me" experience. The friendly and helpful hosts contribute to a positive and welcoming atmosphere. The emphasis on a quiet and respectful environment makes it ideal for nature lovers and those looking to escape noise and crowds. The delicious water from the pumps adds a unique and appreciated touch. The campground's balance of natural immersion with proximity to town for essential supplies offers a convenient blend of wilderness and accessibility.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, for local users searching for "camping near me," it's worth noting the reviewer's repeated stays ("camp here twice and will definitely camp again," and "Our favorite campground in the White Mountains"). This strong positive sentiment suggests a high level of satisfaction and value. To inquire about potential seasonal discounts, especially for stays during the shoulder seasons (end of June and early September, as mentioned by the reviewer), or for information on site availability and pricing, it is recommended to contact the reservation system mentioned with the phone number (877) 444-6777. Covered Bridge Campground Reviews
Love this campground. Perfectly situated between the Swift River and Boulder Loop Trail and close enough to town that if you forgot something civilization isn’t too far. I don’t love vault toilets but they were clean and only had 1 small spider. Water was delicious and my inner child enjoyed the pumps. I’ve camp here twice and will definitely camp again. Hosts were friendly and helpful. I stayed end of June and again early September.
Sep 10, 2024 · ashley fitzpatrickOur favorite campground in the White Mountains. Basic, no cell reception, many private sites especially on the Boulder loop trail side. Hosts are great. Safe for kids. If you want to play music or party don’t come here.
Sep 25, 2024 · Richard CEnjoying lying down on a rock and listening to the river sound, very relaxed and therapeutic. Good place for some sun light and relaxing, not many people visit it which was great! We had a quite but full of natural sounds afternoon here also took some fun pictures for good memories. Perhaps this place is more for the summer, so we can actually soaking in the water.
Nov 11, 2022 · James HsiehCozy, comfortable, wood available, mostly clean bathroom which is more than other campsites provide, beautiful trail, river and the bridge is gorgeous too. Our campsite got flooded but you can’t control the weather and we still had a great trip.
Sep 19, 2023 · sam brammallWe stayed at Covered Bridge one night. It is a great location relative to activities in the White Mountain National Forest. Extra bonus is the Boulder Loop Trail that is attached to the campground (it’s relatively short, offers several great vista views, and you can walk there from the campground and not have to deal with parking). The campground is clean and well kept. Pit toilets don’t bother me- they were very clean but if you struggle with using a pit or not having a shower, this isn’t your campground. The sites are quite large and have a good amount of space between them. Picnic tables and firepits are in great shape.
