Saco River Family Camping Introduce
Looking for an exceptional "camping near me" experience that caters perfectly to families? Saco River Family Camping, located at 1550 White Mountain Hwy in North Conway, New Hampshire, appears to be an outstanding choice based on glowing customer reviews. This campground is specifically highlighted for its kid-friendly environment and the abundance of activities and amenities designed to make family camping both enjoyable and convenient.
One enthusiastic family shared that they had an "incredible experience" last summer and are eagerly anticipating an even longer trip this year. They emphasized that the campground has "everything we need for camping with 2 kids under 4!" The variety of kid-centric features was particularly impressive, including "barrel cart rides, wagon rides, playgrounds, easily accessible bathrooms, tube rentals, pool and splash pad, and river access." This wide array of activities ensured their stay was fantastic, so much so that even after a visit to a "5-star resort in the Caribbean," they couldn't wait to return to enjoy the "beautiful Saco!" Their intention to make this campground an annual tradition speaks volumes about the quality of the experience offered here.
Another reviewer echoed the sentiment, calling it a "wonderful place!" and highlighting that it is "very kid-oriented" with "plenty to keep them busy for sure!" This reinforces the idea that Saco River Family Camping is an ideal destination for families with children. The reviewer also pointed out the convenient location, noting that "if nothing in the campsite suits your needs, there’s always plenty to do in the Conway area as well!" This suggests that while the campground itself offers a lot, its proximity to the broader attractions of the Conway area adds even more value to a stay here. The reviewer was "pleasantly surprised" and enjoyed having "wonderful neighbors." Practical aspects such as the cleanliness of the "bathrooms were kept neat and tidy" were also appreciated, along with the visible efforts of the "staff constantly moving around keeping the grounds maintained." A highlight for this visitor was the "pool," and they expressed a definite intention to return.
Both of these reviews paint a picture of a campground that prioritizes family fun and convenience, with a range of activities for children, well-maintained facilities, and a pleasant atmosphere.
The third review offers a more nuanced perspective, with a primary complaint about the wireless internet. The reviewer found it difficult to maintain a connection, and when connected, the speed was "tough / slow." They acknowledged that they weren't trying to do anything overly demanding online ("Not like we’re streaming videos or anything crazy (it IS camping after all!)"), but it was challenging to "send videos / photos to relatives." While they weren't sure if this was due to their specific location within the campsite, it was a notable inconvenience. Despite this issue, the reviewer concluded, "Either way, we’ll likely be back next year!" This indicates that the positive aspects of the campground outweighed the connectivity problem for this visitor.
Considering these reviews, Saco River Family Camping offers a rich environment for families looking for "camping near me." The standout features include the numerous kid-friendly activities such as barrel cart rides, wagon rides, playgrounds, a pool, and a splash pad. The direct access to the Saco River also provides opportunities for water-based fun like tubing. The campground is praised for its clean and well-maintained facilities, including easily accessible bathrooms, and a dedicated staff. Its location in North Conway also means that visitors have access to the wider attractions and amenities of the area.
However, potential visitors should be aware that the wireless internet service might be unreliable, which could be a consideration for those who need to stay connected. It's also worth noting that the positive experiences shared, particularly regarding the kid-friendly aspects, make this campground highly appealing for families with young children. The repeated intentions of visitors to return annually or next year suggest a high level of overall satisfaction.
For local users with families looking for a camping destination that offers a plethora of activities for children, clean facilities, and access to the Saco River, Saco River Family Camping appears to be an excellent choice. The positive testimonials, especially from families with young kids, highlight the campground's strengths in creating a fun and engaging environment for children while also providing the essentials for a comfortable camping experience. While the wireless connectivity might be an issue for some, the overall family-oriented amenities and the beautiful natural setting along the Saco River seem to be the primary draws.

Saco River Family Camping Reviews
We had such an incredible experience here last summer and are so looking forward to an even longer trip this summer! This place has everything we need for camping with 2 kids under 4! The barrel cart rides, wagon rides, playgrounds, easily accessible bathrooms, tube rentals, pool and splash pad, and river access made our stay incredible and even after staying at a 5 star resort in the Caribbean this past winter, summer can't come fast enough and get us back here to enjoy the beautiful Saco! We love this campground and can't wait to enjoy it yearly for years to come!
Mar 15, 2025 · Lindsey BeanWonderful place! Very kid-oriented and plenty to keep them busy for sure! If nothing in the campsite suits your needs, there’s always plenty to do in the Conway area as well! We were pleasantly surprised and had wonderful neighbors. Bathrooms were kept neat and tidy, and the staff is constantly moving around keeping the grounds maintained. The pool was probably our favorite part! Will definitely return! My only complaint would be the wireless. I had the hardest time maintaining a connection, and when it did connect, it was tough / slow. Not like we’re streaming videos or anything crazy(it IS camping after all!), but it was tough to send videos / photos to relatives. Not sure if it was just where we were located in the campsite or not. Either way, we’ll likely be back next year!
Aug 24, 2024 · Ricky FadusWe stayed here off season in October, however the park seemed pretty full. Our site was 252 and we had a lot of room. All of the sites near us were spacious and we were not crammed together like most campgrounds. The park was quiet and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The dog parks were impressive. There was a small dog park and a larger dog park and both were well maintained. It was a Halloween themed weekend and there were a lot of activities for the kids. The campground is in a great location since its close to shopping, restaurants and a variety of outdoor activities. We are definitely planning a return visit.
Oct 06, 2024 · Tracee ReynoldsThis is a great campground and I can’t wait to go back next year. We didn’t use the pool but it looked really nice. The campsites are nice and big and we had amazing neighbors. The sites and campgrounds are very well maintained. Also the location is great. So much to do. My only complaint is the bathrooms. Whoever designed the two stalls that the shower have no lip to keep the water in the showers… not smart. It’s walking into a pond. The rest did have the lips to keep the water In. This is my last camping trip with a pop-up and next year I will be back with my travel trailer so I won’t have to use the bathrooms but I thought I should leave my comment on that in case they want to remodel the bathrooms for next season. I can’t wait to be back. Next year I will be back with my family and I am really looking forward to it!
Sep 02, 2024 · Inez PerezWe have been camping at Saco River Family Camping Area since 2016. The first year we had tents in a flash flood area and there was a heavy rain storm but we made the best of it! Next year, we bought a camper and have been going back every year in July for at least 10 days! There is so much to do in the area and at the campground! We loved our kayak trip this year, Zach was great getting us to our drop off spot and helping with our kayaks. They have made so many upgrades within the past few years! The new pool is a great spot if you don’t want to be in the river. We will never give up our River site! Our kids love it there, they are 9 and 11 and tell us that they will take it over when they get older😊
