Hill Top Camping Area Introduce
For local residents in New York State and those seeking a family-friendly "camping near me" experience, Hill Top Camping Area, located in Laurens, NY, offers a welcoming environment with engaging activities and natural beauty. Situated in a potentially scenic area of upstate New York, this campground appears to prioritize creating a fun and community-oriented atmosphere for its guests.
The environment of Hill Top Camping Area is highlighted by its "beautiful and really clear" lake, although noted as being small. Lakeside camping offers opportunities for relaxation by the water, and the clarity of the lake suggests a pleasant environment for potential water-based activities, even if not explicitly detailed in the reviews. Surrounding the lake are "quite nice" trails, indicating that the campground provides opportunities for leisurely walks and enjoying the natural surroundings. This combination of a lake and trails makes Hill Top Camping Area an appealing option for those who appreciate natural beauty and gentle outdoor activities.
A significant feature of Hill Top Camping Area is its focus on family engagement, exemplified by the "GREAT" family Olympics event. This activity is described as "low-key, not cut-throat competitive, and lots of fun," suggesting a well-organized and enjoyable experience designed to bring campers together in a relaxed and friendly way. Such organized activities can greatly enhance the camping experience, particularly for families with children, providing entertainment and fostering a sense of community within the campground.
In terms of services, Hill Top Camping Area is noted for its cleanliness. One reviewer explicitly stated that "everything was clean," indicating a commitment to maintaining a tidy and hygienic environment for guests. Additionally, the staff is described as "very friendly," which contributes significantly to a positive camping experience, making guests feel welcome and well-cared for.
However, the reviews also provide some important considerations regarding the campground's amenities. One camper noted that the bathroom near their site, while "very clean," did not have showers or a place to wash dishes. While this was not a "deal-breaker" for a short two-night stay, it is an important piece of information for those planning longer stays or who prioritize these facilities. The reviewer did mention that another bathroom with dishwashing facilities was "not too far away," suggesting that these amenities are available elsewhere within the campground, but not universally located near all campsites. This highlights the importance of checking the campground map or asking for site-specific amenity information when booking.
Another crucial aspect to consider is the privacy between campsites. One reviewer expressed a significant concern about the lack of "real privacy" between sites. They were described as being "all on the same plane," leading to a feeling of being "all in the same site." While the reviewer enjoys some socializing while camping, they also value downtime without the constant presence of neighboring campers. This lack of privacy might be a drawback for those who prioritize seclusion and a more private outdoor experience. Potential campers who value privacy should inquire about site layouts or if any sites offer more natural separation.
The reviews do not provide specific details about the types of campsites available (e.g., tent-only, RV sites with hookups), the overall size of the campground, or other potential amenities such as a camp store, playground, or organized recreational areas beyond the Family Olympics. Without this information, it is difficult to provide a complete picture of the campground's offerings.
Similarly, no promotional information, such as discounts, special rates for longer stays, or themed weekends (beyond the Family Olympics, which seems to be a regular event), is mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential deals or special offers would need to contact Hill Top Camping Area directly.
In summary, Hill Top Camping Area near Laurens, NY, offers a clean and friendly environment with engaging family-oriented activities, such as the well-regarded Family Olympics, and the natural beauty of a small, clear lake with nice surrounding trails. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported lack of privacy between campsites and the potential need to travel to access showers and dishwashing facilities, depending on their campsite location. For those prioritizing a social and activity-filled camping experience with a focus on family fun and natural surroundings, Hill Top Camping Area could be a great "camping near me" option. To get more detailed information about campsite availability, amenities at specific sites, and any potential promotions, interested individuals should contact the campground directly.

Hill Top Camping Area Reviews
Enjoyed 2 night stay, in the camp. Everything was clean and the staff was very friendly.
Jun 01, 2024 · Vlad VoloshinIn terms of activities, this is a GREAT place to be, they have this family Olympics event that's really low-key, not cut- throat competitive, and lots of fun. The lake, though small, is beautiful and really clear. The trails around the lake are quite nice as well.Camping-wise, the bathroom we were near, while very clean, didn't have showers or a place to wash dishes. We were only there two nights, so the shower thing wasn't a deal-breaker, and the other bathroom where you could wash dishes wasn't too far away. But perhaps the thing i didn't care for the most at the site was that there was no real privacy between one site and the next. They were all on the same plane, and it felt like everyone was all in the same site. Yes, I like socializing a little while camping, but I prefer the downtime where I don't have the distraction of other people being right there.
Aug 29, 2023 · Talal JabariOur family enjoys cabining at GLSP, but we always spend some time up in Hilltop area to use the showers, and also to get a little bit of Verizon cell service, when the planets are aligning correctly. The sites are nice sized, as with most state parks, and quite a lot of mature trees and shade, as well. Nice area, with hiking trails that connect up here, as well as down lower. A bit more of a hike to the beach than the cabins are, but overall a nice place to spend time. :)
Jul 15, 2022 · Stacy RomaineIt's beautiful here. Downside poor phone and internet service because of location. Beach and concession stand clean and reasonable prices. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful
Aug 06, 2024 · Evan GottliebCamping was good , facilities were best of any park we've been to this year and We have been to several , very clean . I do think there is a safety issue at the park , when coming from the beach there is no stop sign entering the main road and there is no stop sign heading to the hill top sites which is a collision waiting to happen , the sign coming from hilltop should be placed coming from the beach area before entering main road. Just saying.
