Ho-Humm Canoe Rental & Campground Introduce
For local residents in the Lebanon, Missouri area searching for "camping near me" that offers more than just a place to pitch a tent, Ho-Humm Canoe Rental & Campground, located at 30651 Marigold Dr, Lebanon, MO 65536, USA, presents a dual offering of camping and canoe rentals. Potential visitors can contact them at (417) 588-1908 or mobile at +1 417-588-1908 to inquire about availability and services. Based on the available customer reviews, the campground elicits varied reactions, highlighting both potential positives and significant drawbacks that local users should consider.
The environment of Ho-Humm Canoe Rental & Campground is described by one reviewer as being "so far off the main roads, dirt road for miles and miles." This suggests a somewhat secluded location, which could be appealing to those seeking a more remote camping experience away from the noise and traffic of more accessible campgrounds. However, this remoteness also led to concerns about the condition and accessibility of the road leading to the campground, with the reviewer noting that the roadway was "not even wide enough for 2 campers to pass safely." This could pose a challenge for larger vehicles or during times of higher traffic.
In contrast, another long-term visitor mentions enjoying the experience of "floating back to the campground instead of waiting for a bus to run you back." This implies that the campground is situated along a river suitable for canoeing or floating, and that the layout allows for a self-guided return to the campsite after a water activity. This is a significant feature for those interested in combining camping with river adventures.
Services offered at Ho-Humm Canoe Rental & Campground appear to primarily revolve around camping and canoe rentals. The name itself clearly indicates the availability of canoe rentals, making it a convenient option for those looking to explore the local waterways. One positive service highlighted in a review is the presence of a "new shower house," which is described as "nice." This suggests that the campground has invested in improving its facilities, which is a significant comfort for campers.
However, the negative review raises serious concerns about the management and overall camping experience. The account of being "cussing us out" by someone claiming to be the owner due to noise levels, especially after the campers had been drinking, followed by an order to leave and a threat of involving the sheriff, paints a picture of potentially confrontational management. The subsequent claim of someone "sat up on a picnic table all night watching our campsite" creates a disturbing image of a hostile and unwelcoming environment. These are critical factors that local users should weigh heavily when considering this campground.
The same negative review also mentions that "the sites are right on top of each other," suggesting a lack of privacy and potentially crowded camping conditions. This is in stark contrast to the appeal of a secluded location and could detract from the overall enjoyment of the natural surroundings. The reviewer's decision to leave after only three nights of a paid four-night stay and their strong recommendation to "NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!" should not be ignored.
On the other hand, the long-term visitor's positive review mentions that "Clint and his wife Sherry run the place" and describes them as "great!" This provides a contrasting perspective on the management and suggests that experiences may vary. The reviewer's loyalty over "about 15 or more years" indicates that some campers have had consistently positive experiences at Ho-Humm.
Features of the campground seem to include the river access for canoeing and floating, the new shower house, and potentially picnic tables (as mentioned in the negative review regarding the overnight watcher). The fact that many campers seemed to be "regulars or long timers" could suggest a close-knit community, but it might also contribute to a feeling of being an outsider for new visitors, as implied by the negative experience.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any special offers or packages related to canoe rentals and camping would need to contact Ho-Humm Canoe Rental & Campground directly.
Given the conflicting reviews, local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider their priorities and risk tolerance when thinking about Ho-Humm Canoe Rental & Campground. The appeal of river access and canoe rentals, along with the positive feedback about the new shower house and friendly long-term management (from one perspective), is counterbalanced by serious concerns about accessibility, campsite crowding, and potentially negative interactions with management, as described by another visitor.
To make an informed decision, local users may want to:
- Contact the Campground Directly: Inquire about road conditions, campsite spacing, management policies regarding noise and guest interactions, and any specific rules or regulations.
- Seek More Recent Reviews: Look for more up-to-date reviews on other platforms to get a broader sense of current conditions and customer experiences.
- Consider Their Group's Needs: If traveling with a group that might be lively, it's crucial to understand the campground's policies on noise and behavior.
- Assess Road Accessibility: If traveling in a large RV or towing a trailer, inquire specifically about the ease of navigating the road to the campground.
In conclusion, Ho-Humm Canoe Rental & Campground offers a unique combination of camping and canoe rental services in a potentially secluded location near Lebanon, MO. While some long-term visitors have had positive experiences, serious concerns have been raised by others regarding management interactions, campsite crowding, and road accessibility. Local users searching for "camping near me" should weigh these contrasting perspectives carefully and conduct further research before making a reservation to ensure it aligns with their expectations for a camping getaway.

Ho-Humm Canoe Rental & Campground Reviews
This was absolutely the worst camping experience. It was so far off the main roads, dirt road for miles and miles. One night we were approached by a man who claimed to be the owner of the place cussing us out because our music was apparently to loud. We had all been drinking and we were ordered to leave. Really??? We were told he was going to call the sheriff and have us escorted off of the property. Then someone sat up on a picnic table all night watching our campsite. The sites are right on top of each other. We paid for 4 nights, only stayed for 3. Will definitely never go back. Everyone that was camping seemed to be regulars or long timers. The sheriff never showed up by the way, it was probably too far down the dirt road. The roadway into the campground was not even wide enough for 2 campers to pass safely. NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!
Sep 10, 2021 · Jerry CooperHohumm has been my go to for camping and floating for about 15 or more years now. Clint and his wife Sherry run the place. The new shower house is nice and the people are great! I like floating back to the campground instead of waiting for a bus to run you back. I will go again soon! You should come try it out!
Aug 10, 2020 · Brad DieckmannMad a reservation for 8 adults to camp. We were supposed to get #13, an electric site, 2 large rafts. When we got there, the store clerk said we were in site #6 and informed us that we had to be on the early 9am bus. When we went to the campsite, it was about 30' square. Clint (who appeared to be hammered drunk) was in the area, and although I had talked to him personally he said he didnt know we had 8 people. After a bit, he moved us to #1. We set up our tents and hung out a bit and went to bed. Excited for our float, we were up early and at the bus stop by 845 am. To our disappointment, Clint showed up in the bus at a out 945. We shook it off and were ready 3float. When we got up river, we found that the rafts were "on the way". 45 minutes later, the rafts finally showed up, they all had to be inflated. Finally, we are in the river and floating. We had a great day and got back to camp safely. Quiet hour is 12 midnight. Our neighbors had rap music blasting until 230 am. When we checked out, I expressed my concerns to the clerk. She replied "I only work in the store". We have been going to ho humm for over 5 years. Disappointment is an understatement. There are plenty of places to float the niangua. This may be our last time at ho humm.
Jul 24, 2021 · Nick FelicioneBeautiful place to camp and float with family. Ground maintained , clean shower and bath house and super nice and friendly staff. Have been a loyal camper to them for over 20 years and could not be convinced to change
