Indian cabins

100 PA-36, Cooksburg, PA 16217, USA

4.0
Overall, nice state park. We stayed in Indian cabin 2, which was a bit tight, but fine for two adults on a weekend. The gas fireplace keeps the place very toasty warm! Oven and stove were hard to cook on, since there's no real way to tell what the temperature is. Restrooms and showers are right across the drive, but you need your cabin key to get in. Water is hot, but sprays everywhere and the huge shower area lets heat escape. Cabin curtains do not fully cover the windows. As someone else said, fridge and microwave smell like floor cleaner, so don't put anything inside without a container. Electrical outlets next to take, by the entry door, and end of the bed near the window. Forget about the top bunks! Low ceiling and large beams in the middle. For the cabin size, it should have just been one full sized bed. - K Weir

Indian cabins Introduce

Looking for "camping near me" that offers the comfort of a cabin within a picturesque setting? Consider Indian cabins, located at 100 PA-36, Cooksburg, PA 16217, USA. Based on recent customer reviews, these cabins are situated within a "nice state park" in a beautiful area with plenty to do, offering a secluded feel compared to some other state parks. For local users seeking a cabin experience close to nature, Indian cabins could be a viable option.

One reviewer who stayed in "Indian cabin 2" described it as "a bit tight, but fine for two adults on a weekend." This suggests that the cabins, at least some of them, might be on the smaller side, making them perhaps more suitable for couples or small groups for shorter stays. The reviewer did highlight a significant positive feature: "The gas fireplace keeps the place very toasty warm!" This indicates that the cabins are equipped with heating, making them suitable for use even during cooler times of the year and providing a cozy atmosphere.

The cooking facilities in cabin 2 include an oven and stove, but the reviewer noted that they were "hard to cook on, since there's no real way to tell what the temperature is." This is a practical consideration for those planning to do their own cooking during their stay. It suggests that while the means to cook are provided, temperature control might be an issue.

Regarding bathroom facilities, the restrooms and showers are located "right across the drive," indicating they are in a separate communal building. A notable point is that "you need your cabin key to get in," suggesting a level of security for these facilities. The water is reported to be hot, which is a plus, but the shower "sprays everywhere and the huge shower area lets heat escape." This provides a heads-up for potential users about the shower experience.

Another point of feedback concerns the cabin's privacy, as the "cabin curtains do not fully cover the windows." This might be a consideration for guests who value complete privacy. Additionally, the reviewer echoed a previous comment about the "fridge and microwave smell like floor cleaner, so don't put anything inside without a container." This is an important hygiene tip for future guests.

In terms of the sleeping arrangements in cabin 2, there are "electrical outlets next to take, by the entry door, and end of the bed near the window." This information about power access can be helpful for charging devices. However, the reviewer advised to "Forget about the top bunks! Low ceiling and large beams in the middle. For the cabin size, it should have just been one full sized bed." This suggests that the top bunks in at least this cabin are not very practical due to space limitations, and a single full-sized bed might have been a better use of the space.

Another reviewer offered a more general positive sentiment: "Cabins are small but nice. The area is beautiful and lots to do. Love the seclusion of it vs some other state parks." This reinforces the idea of a pleasant stay within a scenic and relatively private state park setting. The mention of "lots to do" implies that the location offers various activities, although these are not specified in the reviews.

Based on these reviews, the features and services of the Indian cabins in Cooksburg, PA, appear to include:

  • Cozy, albeit potentially small, cabins.
  • A gas fireplace for heating.
  • A stove and oven for cooking (with potential temperature control issues).
  • Access to communal restrooms and showers across from the cabins (requiring a cabin key).
  • Hot water in the showers, though with a spray issue and potential heat loss.
  • Limited privacy due to curtains that don't fully cover windows.
  • Refrigerators and microwaves that might have a cleaning product odor.
  • Electrical outlets in convenient locations within the cabin.
  • Some cabins may have bunk beds, with top bunks being less practical due to low ceilings and beams.
  • Location within a beautiful state park with a sense of seclusion and "lots to do."

The environment is clearly a major draw, being within a "nice state park" known for its beauty and relative seclusion. Cooksburg is situated in the heart of the Pennsylvania Wilds, famous for the Cook Forest State Park and the Clarion River. This suggests that local users can expect a setting rich in natural landscapes, including old-growth forests, river valleys, and opportunities for outdoor recreation like hiking, canoeing, and exploring scenic overlooks.

There is no specific promotional information in the provided reviews. However, the positive comments about the beautiful area and the sense of seclusion could be seen as indirect promotion for local users seeking a peaceful and nature-oriented "camping near me" experience.

For local users looking for a camping cabin in a beautiful and somewhat secluded state park setting, Indian cabins in Cooksburg, PA, offer a potential option. While some cabins might be small and have certain quirks (like the cooking temperature issue, shower spray, and curtain coverage), the warmth of the fireplace, the hot showers, and the overall appeal of the area seem to be positives. If you value being close to nature and enjoy a quieter state park experience, Indian cabins could be worth considering. It might be helpful to inquire about the specific cabin you would be renting to understand its size and features better.
