The location of Deer Meadow Campground is a significant feature, particularly for those interested in exploring Cook Forest and its surrounding natural attractions. Being "literally across the street" provides unparalleled access to the forest's hiking trails, scenic overlooks, and diverse ecosystems. For local users planning to visit Cook Forest for a day trip or an extended stay, Deer Meadow Campground offers an incredibly convenient basecamp.
Returning visitors consistently praise the excellent management and smooth operation of Deer Meadow Campground. One reviewer, a two-year repeat guest who drives over five hours for a specific electric/water hookup site, attests to the campground's quality and appeal. The check-in and check-out processes are described as "very well set up," and the gate access is noted as "fantastic," suggesting a well-organized and secure environment.
Families with children will appreciate the impressive pool area at Deer Meadow Campground. It features large walk-down steps for easy entry and a gradual depth ranging from three to five feet, making it safe and enjoyable for a wide range of ages. Additionally, the campground boasts two playgrounds, one large and another about half the size, providing ample space for kids to play and burn off energy.
While the camp store is described as "small," it is also noted as "well stocked," suggesting that campers can find essential items without having to travel far. This convenience can be particularly valuable for those who may have forgotten something or need basic supplies during their stay.
Deer Meadow Campground goes the extra mile to provide entertainment and foster a sense of community, especially on weekends. One family, who booked a total of five sites, reported having an "amazing" experience, highlighting the campground's suitability for group camping and family gatherings.

The fact that all pictures in one review were taken within 50 feet of their site suggests well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing surroundings.
For RV campers, Deer Meadow Campground offers electric and water hookup sites, as mentioned by a long-term visitor who stayed for a full month. They emphasize the extremely friendly and helpful staff, specifically mentioning that "Tracie does a great job of making everyone feel welcome." This personal touch and commitment to guest satisfaction contribute significantly to the positive experiences reported by campers.

Deer Meadow Campground Reviews
This is our second year. We stay a full week each time. We drive five hours and 15 minutes for spot 34. This is electric/water hookup. We bring a rhino hookup for easy dumping of black water by the office. This campground is by far the best and we love it. Extremely well run. Check in and out is very well set up. Gate access is fantastic. Great pool with large walk down steps and goes from 3-5 foot gradually.Small camp store that is well stocked. Weekend activities (this year it was bingo and two live bands). Free Hey Rides on Saturdays at 3.Relaxed atmosphere. We had 5 sites total betwen all the family that came down and it was amazing.Clean campground with a great feel for the country setting. All pictures were within 50 feet of our site.
Jul 04, 2023 · Bobby Jo WinkelmannBecause I travel full time, my family and I stayed for a full month. The campground could have more RV spots for campers but its okay. The weekends here get BUSY! But the weekdays are very quiet .They don't have any bathroom facilities except for the outhouses near the pool. No bath houses also means no showers unless you have an RV or happen to know one of the annual site members. The pool is nice! Only 5ft deep so great for the kids, there are two playgrounds one big one and the other is about half the size. They have an off leash dog area and this place is very dog friendly. You're literally across the street from Cooks forest so if you are planning on visiting the forest or staying for a week or two, this was a great place. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Tracie does a great job of making everyone feel welcome. I would definitely recommend this camp ground to anyone looking to stay in Cooks forest/Cooksburg.
