Jericho Mountain State Park Campground Introduce
For local users exploring the "camping near me" category in the vicinity of Berlin, New Hampshire, Jericho Mountain State Park Campground, located on Jericho Lake Rd, presents a camping destination deeply intertwined with the region's prominent ATV culture. Situated within Jericho Mountain State Park, this campground offers direct access to extensive ATV trails, making it a potentially attractive option for off-road enthusiasts. However, feedback from recent visitors highlights both the appealing aspects and some potential drawbacks that local users should carefully consider when planning their camping trips.
One reviewer described Jericho Mountain State Park Campground as a "real hidden gem" despite mentioning the "unrelenting" mosquitoes. This suggests that the overall experience, encompassing the location, views, amenities, and friendly staff, left a positive impression. The reviewer noted that while other feedback mentioned ATV noise, they did not find it overly disruptive, possibly due to being out hiking during the day and only at the campsite in the evenings and early mornings. This perspective indicates that for campers prioritizing daytime activities like hiking and appreciating the natural setting, the ATV noise might be manageable or less impactful.
In contrast, another reviewer had a significantly different experience, strongly advising against visiting for those seeking "peace and quiet." This feedback emphasizes the pervasive nature of the "ATV culture" at the campground, characterized by "yelling, loud engines on every side of the campground and stinky fuel fumes." This camper, hoping for a relaxing fall weekend in the White Mountains with their camper for hiking, found the noise and disruption caused by ATVs within the campground to be so significant that they would not return. This perspective highlights a crucial aspect for local users to consider: the potential for noise and activity related to ATV use within and around the camping area.
Considering these contrasting viewpoints, the environment of Jericho Mountain State Park Campground appears to be one where the natural beauty and recreational opportunities are closely linked with a vibrant ATV community. The location within Jericho Mountain State Park suggests access to scenic views and potentially hiking trails, as mentioned by one reviewer. The "hidden gem" descriptor implies a certain level of natural appeal and perhaps less crowded conditions compared to more mainstream campgrounds, although this is subjective and not explicitly detailed.
Information regarding specific services and amenities is somewhat limited in the provided reviews. One reviewer mentioned "amenities" as a positive aspect contributing to the "hidden gem" status, but these amenities are not specified. Typically, state park campgrounds offer basic amenities such as restrooms, potable water sources, picnic tables, and fire rings at campsites. The presence of friendly staff was also noted as a positive aspect. However, details about the availability of hookups for RVs (water, electric, sewer), laundry facilities, or a camp store are not provided in these reviews. Local users with specific amenity requirements should inquire directly with the campground.
The primary feature of Jericho Mountain State Park Campground, as highlighted by both reviews, is its direct access to ATV trails within Jericho Mountain State Park. This is a significant draw for ATV enthusiasts in the "camping near me" category, offering the convenience of riding directly from their campsite. However, as the negative review points out, this feature also brings the potential for significant noise and exhaust fumes within the campground itself. For local users who are not primarily interested in ATV riding and are seeking a quiet natural retreat, this could be a major deterrent.
The mention of "hiking" by one reviewer suggests that the park and campground also cater to those interested in exploring on foot. The potential for scenic views, given its location in the White Mountains region, could also be a significant feature for nature lovers. The timing of one reviewer's visit ("fall weekend in the Whites") implies that the campground may be open during the fall foliage season, which is a popular time to visit New Hampshire for its stunning autumn colors.
Neither review mentions any specific promotional information, such as discounts for local residents, seasonal specials, or package deals that might combine camping with ATV rentals or guided tours. Local users interested in such promotions would need to check the official Jericho Mountain State Park website or contact the campground directly.
In summary, Jericho Mountain State Park Campground offers a unique camping experience centered around its access to ATV trails within a scenic location in the White Mountains near Berlin, NH. For local users who are avid ATV riders, the convenience of direct trail access could outweigh the potential for noise and exhaust. The positive mention of friendly staff and overall "hidden gem" status by one reviewer suggests that there are other appealing aspects to the campground, such as its location and possibly its amenities. However, the strong negative feedback regarding pervasive ATV noise within the campground is a serious concern for those seeking a peaceful and quiet camping experience.
Local users considering Jericho Mountain State Park Campground should carefully weigh their priorities. If ATV riding is the primary focus, the campground's direct trail access is a significant advantage. However, if peace and quiet are paramount, especially during times when ATV activity is likely to be high (such as weekends and holidays), this campground may not be the best choice. The issue of mosquitoes, mentioned by one reviewer, is also something to consider, particularly during the warmer months, and appropriate insect repellent and protective clothing would be advisable.
To make an informed decision, local users may want to:
- Contact the campground directly: Call (603) 752-4758 or +1 603-752-4758 to inquire about typical noise levels at different times of the day and year, specific amenities offered, and any policies regarding ATV use within the campground.
- Seek more recent reviews: Look for feedback from other campers on various online platforms to get a broader range of opinions and experiences.
- Consider the time of year: ATV activity might be more concentrated during certain seasons or weekends. If seeking a quieter experience, an off-peak time might be preferable.
Jericho Mountain State Park Campground, located at Jericho Lake Rd, Berlin, NH 03570, USA, offers a camping experience closely tied to ATV recreation. While it may be a "hidden gem" for some due to its location, views, and friendly staff, the potential for significant ATV noise within the campground is a crucial factor for local users to consider based on their individual preferences for peace and quiet. Weighing the benefits of direct trail access against the potential for a noisy environment is essential when deciding if this campground is the right fit for your "camping near me" needs.

Jericho Mountain State Park Campground Reviews
the mosquitoes were unrelenting, but the ATV noise other reviewers mentioned really wasn't all that bad (although we were mostly out and about hiking during the day and only at camp in the evening and early morning). considering the location, views, amenities, and friendly staff, this spot is a real hidden gem that we can't wait to come back to :)
Aug 13, 2024 · Vayda GoodDon't come here thinking you will have peace and quiet. The ATV culture is thick. Yelling, loud engines on every side of the campground and stinky fuel fumes. We wanted a nice fall weekend in the Whites with our camper to hike and relax, but found the noise and disruption of the ATVs through the campground to be prohibitive to returning here in the future.
Sep 30, 2023 · J HARDYThe campsite charges you for hot water. The prices were already a little high. Also after they close, you have to walk from the closest pit toilet.
Oct 05, 2024 · Deric PearsonThis is a campground no rooms. It is a great location for camping, ATV riding and outdoor adventures.
