Lake Logan KOA Journey Introduce
Looking for a convenient and welcoming campground close to home? Lake Logan KOA Journey, situated at 28920 Lake Logan Rd, Logan, OH 43138, offers a range of camping options and amenities for those searching for "camping near me." You can easily reach us at (740) 385-7120 or our mobile number, +1 740-385-7120, to inquire about availability and make reservations for your next local getaway.
Based on recent customer feedback, Lake Logan KOA Journey is generally considered an average campground with some notable highlights. Many guests have praised the owner's exceptional friendliness and hospitality. One reviewer specifically mentioned the warm welcome upon arrival and the thoughtful gesture of checking in during setup. The self-serve firewood, operating on an honor system, has also been appreciated for its convenience, allowing campers to access wood throughout the night without worry.
The campground offers individual bathroom units, each containing a toilet and shower. Guests have described these facilities as clean and pleasant-smelling. However, it's important to note that these bathrooms are not heated, which might be a consideration for campers visiting during colder months, as one reviewer who stayed in mid-October opted not to shower due to the temperature.
One recurring point in the reviews concerns the size of some campsites. Several guests have found the interior campsites to be quite small. One reviewer mentioned that they effectively occupied two to three sites to comfortably fit two small tents and a vehicle at a safe distance from the fire ring. They cautioned that these central sites might only be suitable for couples or solo travelers with a single small tent. In contrast, the sites located on the outer edges of the park appear to offer more generous space, potentially accommodating small campers and tents more comfortably. If you have specific space requirements, it's advisable to discuss your needs with the campground staff when making your reservation to ensure you are allocated an appropriate site.
For families with children, Lake Logan KOA Journey appears to be kid-friendly, featuring playgrounds and a swimming pool that is open during the summer months. These amenities provide opportunities for recreation and entertainment for younger campers.
Another practical consideration highlighted by a reviewer is the availability of water at individual campsites. It was noted that some sites do not have direct water hookups, and there isn't a designated community area for filling up water for drinking and cooking. Therefore, if your assigned site lacks a water connection, it's recommended to bring your own supply. One guest mentioned having to utilize a vacant site to access water, which might not always be feasible if the campground is at full capacity.
One guest who stayed at campsite 55 near the back of the campground reported having a large campsite with ample space. They also mentioned the unique experience of a temporary "waterfall by the creek" during a heavy rain, which they found enjoyable. However, they also noted that the campground can get busy on weekends, and with only four working bathrooms, strategic planning for bathroom use might be necessary during peak times, particularly in the mornings. They found that showering late at night helped avoid any congestion. A potential downside of the larger, more secluded campsites at the back was the noticeable noise from the nearby expressway, especially during quiet nights. The reviewer suggested using a fan or white noise to mitigate this.
Despite some of the mentioned drawbacks, the overall sentiment from this reviewer was positive, particularly regarding the price and the opportunity to explore the beauty of the Hocking Hills area. The campground also offers firewood for purchase, a volleyball net, and the aforementioned small playground, adding to the available amenities.
In summary, Lake Logan KOA Journey offers a welcoming atmosphere with a friendly owner and convenient amenities like clean, individual bathrooms and self-serve firewood. It appears to be a family-friendly campground with a pool and playground. However, potential guests should be aware that some interior campsites can be small, and water hookups may not be available at all sites. Noise from the expressway might also be a factor for campsites located towards the back. If you are looking for "camping near me" and value friendly service and basic amenities, Lake Logan KOA Journey could be a suitable option, especially if you inquire about site sizes and water availability when booking. Lake Logan KOA Journey Reviews
This is an average campground. Not the worst I've ever been to but also not the best. The owner was super friendly very hospitable. She even came over to us while setting up camp to make sure we were settling in nicely. Also the firewood is self serve all night and they use the honors system, which was nice because we didn't have to worry about running out of wood in the middle of the night. The bathrooms were nice each was a single with a toilet and shower. They were clean and smelled pleasant however, they were not heated so we opted out of showers since we went in mid October when it was cold.If we went on a busier weekend I would probably be giving this place a much lower rating as I don't know where we would have set up camp. The campsites are very small. We were taking up 2 if not 3 campsites as realistically we would not have been able to fit our 2 small tents on one site with a vehicle that was a safe distance from the fire ring. Basically we set up camp on one site and used the fire ring on the campsite behind us. It looks very kid friendly with playgrounds and a pool in the summer. The sites on the outside of the park looked to be decent size for small campers and tents. I would not recommend a site in the middle of the park (this is where we were) unless you are a couple or single individual with one small tent. Also if your site does not have water bring your own as there is not a community area to fill up water for drinking and cooking. Luckily the park wasn't busy so we went to another site to get water.
Oct 10, 2022 · Ashleigh KleinWe camped via tent which was a little muddy but also expected. We stayed at campsite 55 near the back and one of the days it rained some much we had our own waterfall by the creek which was awesome. Our campsite was huge with lots of space. Campground gets busy during weekend with 4 working bathrooms so you have to be strategic with planning your bathroom use, we took our showers late at night and had no issues, however 8-9 am is a busy bathroom time so plan accordingly. The campground has firewood for purchase, a pool, volleyball net, and small playground. One of the down sides of the big campsite in the back is the background sounds of the expressway behind the campground which seemed louder at night probably because it was so quiet. Have a fan or something for white noise and you should be fine. Great price! We enjoyed our stay and seen all the beauty Hocking Hills had to offer.
Jun 13, 2021 · Krystal MorinWe really enjoyed our 1st experience at this simple but cozy campground. I'm so familiar with bigger state park ran campground so I was unsure of how it would go with a smaller family owned campground. Unfortunately it had rained quite a bit before we had arrived and that is completely out of the owners control. When we arrived we were told that our campsite was submerged in water but they did not hesitate to find us another location to set up for the night. (I wouldn't expect this at a state park campground because it's usually a get what you get situation) It was a very small corner that didn't really look like a campsite but luckily it was just the 2 of us and we are pretty flexible people. They even found us a fire ring and brought it over. It definitely added to our adventure and they even let us use the electric box next to it even though we had a primitive site originally. The lady was working super hard to accommodate the requests of every person on the campground. It seemed like she was the only staff onsite and she was a very patient lady. We would like to come back for the customer service alone. Thank you for the memories!
Aug 08, 2022 · Courtney GibsonNice & quiet little campground, the staff is very friendly & helpful. Sites are a bit smaller than we’re used to but it’s plenty room for two to three people. They’re dog friendly which is a big bonus, the only downfalls are the shower heads are a bit short. I’m 6’2” & they measure up to about 5’5”, also the fire pits are fairly small & not really seated in the dirt. But it’s otherwise a great campground, the nightly cost is also very affordable
Jul 16, 2021 · Matthew JamesThis campground is small with a Big bang for your buck!! We had an amazing camping experience. The owner's and staff are friendly and work hard to keep the bathroom/shower house's clean and stocked during business hours. We stayed during a busy holiday weekend and everything was calm and quiet. The owner's provided great entertainment and activities for the 4th. We look forward to coming back!
