Lake Nummy Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Woodbine, New Jersey area, Lake Nummy, located at 210 Meisle Rd, Woodbine, NJ 08270, USA, offers a natural lakeside setting with opportunities for relaxation and some recreational activities. While the provided reviews offer insights into specific aspects of the campground and the lake itself, it's important to note that one review mentions its connection to Belleplain State Park, suggesting that Lake Nummy might be part of or closely associated with the park's broader offerings. Potential visitors may find it beneficial to also explore information related to Belleplain State Park for a more comprehensive understanding of the area.
Accommodation options at Lake Nummy include "little lean-to cabins." One reviewer who stayed in a cabin provided specific feedback about the heating system, noting that while they have heat, it "doesn't work very well." The reviewer cautioned that "the walls and the floors are very cold," and while temperatures above freezing might be tolerable, colder conditions would necessitate "bundling up when you sleep." This suggests that while the lean-to cabins offer shelter, they may not be adequately insulated for colder weather, making them potentially more suitable for warmer seasons. This is a crucial consideration for those planning to camp during the shoulder seasons or in cooler temperatures.
The environment surrounding Lake Nummy is described as a "nice place to go" by one reviewer. While they noted that there isn't "much to do" directly at the lake itself, they did highlight the presence of "Kevin's Kitchen" and a "nature center" as points of interest. Kevin's Kitchen likely offers food and refreshments, providing a convenient option for campers who may not want to cook all their meals. The nature center suggests opportunities for learning about the local flora and fauna, potentially offering exhibits, programs, and guided walks that can enhance the outdoor experience, especially for families and nature enthusiasts.
One of the recreational activities available at Lake Nummy is canoeing. The reviewer mentioned the possibility to "rent a canoe for $10 an hour," providing an opportunity to explore the lake from the water. Canoeing can be a peaceful way to enjoy the natural scenery and get some exercise. The shallow nature of the lake, as mentioned later in the review, might make it particularly suitable for leisurely paddling.
For those interested in fishing, the review provides some important details about Lake Nummy. The lake is described as "not very deep," which has implications for where fish are likely to be found. The reviewer advises that "any fish you can catch you got to get out on a boat," suggesting that shore fishing might be less productive for catching fish. They further elaborate that those fishing from the shore can "expect to catch a lot of algae," while "there are fish in the deeper out in front of the swimming area." This information is valuable for anglers planning a visit, indicating that boat access is recommended for a better fishing experience and to avoid areas with excessive algae.
The mention of a "swimming area" implies that Lake Nummy is also used for swimming, suggesting that it is a multi-purpose lake for recreation. The presence of a designated swimming area typically indicates a safer and more accessible part of the lake for swimming activities, which can be a significant draw during the warmer months.
Given the limited information, details about other potential services and features at Lake Nummy are scarce. Standard campground amenities such as restroom facilities, picnic areas, and fire pits are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews. Similarly, information about the types of campsites available (beyond the lean-to cabins), potential RV accommodations, or other recreational activities (like hiking trails, if any) is not provided. Local users would need to seek additional information to get a comprehensive picture of the campground's offerings.
Promotional information is also absent from the provided reviews. There are no mentions of special rates, packages, or seasonal offers that might be available at Lake Nummy. Those interested in potential deals or discounts should contact the campground directly or check for any official websites or listings associated with Lake Nummy or Belleplain State Park.
In conclusion, Lake Nummy in Woodbine, NJ, offers a lakeside environment with lean-to cabin rentals and opportunities for canoeing and fishing. It is also associated with a nature center and Kevin's Kitchen, providing some additional points of interest. However, potential visitors should be aware of the limitations of the lean-to cabins in colder weather and the shallow nature of the lake, which affects fishing, with boat access being recommended for better results. Swimming is also an activity that appears to be available. For local users searching for "camping near me" with a focus on a natural lake setting and basic amenities, Lake Nummy might be a consideration, but further research into the facilities and the broader offerings of Belleplain State Park is advisable to ensure it meets their specific needs and expectations. Direct contact with the park or the lake management would be beneficial to obtain complete information on services, fees, and any current promotions.

Lake Nummy Reviews
We rented a little lean-to cabin. They have heat but the heat doesn't work very well. The walls and the floors are very cold. If the outside temperature is above freezing you will be okay. But if it is colder than that you better bundle up when you sleep.
Jan 27, 2025 · Bill HeroWrote about my camping experience at this lake on the belle plain state park page but this lake is a nice place to go. Not much to do but there is Kevin's Kitchen and the nature center. You can also rent a canoe for $10 an hour. The lake isn't very deep so any fish you can catch you got to get out on a boat. If your gonna fish from the shore expect to catch a lot of algae but there are fish in the deeper out in front of the swimming area.
Sep 02, 2022 · Pasquale CuccaroI absolutely love this lake and nature trails, and I love that it’s dog-friendly. But, BEWARE OF TICKS! It’s April and there are already so many ticks out. I picked 4 off of my dog when we came home. Wear a hat and protective clothing if possible, and check for ticks!
May 01, 2022 · Venice ReikiShort drive to this state park now with water and electric hookups. Easy flat hiking. We just wish the trees were trimmed back on the RV sites. There are usually a few low hangers.
