You can reach them at (320) 275-3483 or +1 320-275-3483 for inquiries and reservations. Based on the enthusiastic feedback from recent visitors, Lakewood Farm And Campground stands out for its exceptional hosts, well-kept property, and friendly atmosphere, making it a strong contender for your next camping getaway.
One glowing review highlights the outstanding hospitality provided by the campground owners, stating, "Super nice campground on a very well kept property!! Lail and Charlie are the best hosts anyone could ask for!!" This immediately sets a positive tone, emphasizing the care and attention given to both the campground itself and its guests. The description of the property as "very well kept" suggests that visitors can expect a clean, organized, and aesthetically pleasing environment during their stay. The commendation of Lail and Charlie as "the best hosts anyone could ask for" speaks volumes about their dedication to ensuring a positive and memorable experience for everyone who camps at Lakewood Farm And Campground.
The same reviewer further illustrates the accommodating nature of the hosts with a specific example: "Lail was more than accommodating, making a great spot for the entire White Bear Lake High School Fishing Team to camp together for the state tournament. Thanks again!!" This demonstrates a willingness and ability to cater to larger groups, such as school teams or other organized parties, and to go the extra mile to ensure their needs are met. The effort to create a "great spot for the entire... team to camp together" indicates flexibility in site arrangements and a commitment to facilitating group cohesion and enjoyment. This makes Lakewood Farm And Campground a potentially excellent choice for group camping events in the local area.
Another review offers insights into the atmosphere and community at the campground, mentioning, "Seasonal campers work a few weekend spots. Very welcoming. Great atmosphere that doesn't feel like a mobile home park." This suggests that Lakewood Farm And Campground has a strong presence of seasonal campers who contribute to a welcoming environment for short-term visitors as well. The fact that these seasonal campers "work a few weekend spots" might imply a sense of community involvement and pride in the campground. The crucial point that the atmosphere "doesn't feel like a mobile home park" is significant, as it suggests a more natural and recreational camping ambiance rather than a long-term residential feel, which can sometimes be the case at campgrounds with a large number of seasonal residents.
Based on these reviews, Lakewood Farm And Campground offers a compelling combination of a well-maintained environment and exceptional hospitality, making it an attractive option for those seeking "camping near me" in the Darwin, MN region. While specific details about the environment, services, and features are somewhat limited in these reviews, we can infer several key aspects based on the positive feedback.
Environment: The description of the property as "very well kept" suggests a clean and orderly environment. The presence of seasonal campers and the atmosphere not feeling like a mobile home park hints at a setting that prioritizes a recreational camping experience, possibly with natural elements and open spaces. While the reviews don't explicitly detail the landscape (e.g., wooded areas, proximity to water), the name "Lakewood Farm And Campground" implies a setting that might incorporate both open areas (farm) and possibly wooded or lakeside features (lake or "wood"). Local users familiar with the Darwin area might have a better understanding of the typical landscapes in the region, which could provide further context.
Services and Features: The reviews primarily focus on the hospitality and atmosphere rather than specific amenities. However, the fact that the White Bear Lake High School Fishing Team was accommodated suggests the presence of suitable camping spots for groups. The mention of seasonal campers implies the availability of longer-term sites, which often include hookups (water, electricity, sewer), though this is not explicitly stated. The welcoming nature of the seasonal campers suggests a friendly and inclusive environment for all visitors. The "very well kept property" likely includes basic campground necessities such as maintained grounds, and potentially features like picnic tables and fire rings at campsites, although these are not explicitly mentioned.
Given the positive emphasis on the hosts and the accommodating nature towards a large group, it is reasonable to assume that Lail and Charlie are responsive to the needs of their campers and likely provide essential information and assistance. However, specific details about restroom facilities, shower availability, laundry services, recreational amenities (like trails or playgrounds), or Wi-Fi access are not provided in the current reviews.
Promotional Information: The provided reviews serve as strong testimonials, highlighting the excellent service and welcoming atmosphere of Lakewood Farm And Campground. The fact that they were able to accommodate a large high school fishing team for a state tournament could be considered a form of implicit promotion for group camping. The positive comments about the well-kept property and the friendly seasonal campers also act as endorsements for the overall camping experience. However, there are no specific details regarding pricing, types of campsites available (e.g., tent sites, RV sites with different hookup levels), reservation policies, or any special offers or seasonal promotions in the provided text. Local users would need to contact Lakewood Farm And Campground directly to obtain this information.
In conclusion, for those in the Darwin, MN area seeking "camping near me," Lakewood Farm And Campground appears to be a highly regarded option, particularly for those who value exceptional hospitality and a friendly community atmosphere. The positive reviews emphasize the welcoming nature of the hosts, Lail and Charlie, and the well-maintained condition of the property. The campground seems capable of accommodating both seasonal and short-term campers, as well as larger groups. However, specific details regarding the full range of amenities and services are not available in the provided reviews. Local users are strongly encouraged to contact Lakewood Farm And Campground directly at (320) 275-3483 or +1 320-275-3483 to inquire about campsite availability, pricing, specific amenities, and any policies or guidelines for campers. The strong positive feedback suggests that Lakewood Farm And Campground offers a pleasant and welcoming "camping near me" experience in the Darwin area.

Apr 18, 2021 · Travis KindemI've spent my summers growing up at this campground, my parents had a camper here for over 20 years. My wife and myself have been here 7 years now and absolutely love it, my children are now 3 generation campers here. And we look forward to being here every weekend and spending time with family and friends. It is a family run campground with a great family feel. There are very diverse age groups here, and with that comes common courtesy and respect for one another.
Jun 28, 2024 · Jason OelfkeMy home away from home! We love coming out to the lake. The kids can play at the playground or walk down to grandma and grandpa's camper and go swimming! We love the simplicity of the campground. We do our thing and the other seasonals do their thing and we do our best to be respectful of everyone. There are people of all ages so it is a very diverse group of campers. I think management is doing their very best to keep everyone happy and enforce rules. They are doing great with handling their first season taking over after Lail. We have been here 3 summers now and hope to have many more. We are very happy to see more families coming in with kids. This summer has been amazing so far. Love seeing all the kids running around!
Jul 06, 2020 · Nicole GrimesStayed 3 nights while in town for a kayak fishing tournament, this campground is fabulous. Owners very nice and accomodating. We had our 3 boys and 2 dogs with and had no issues from seasonal site campers, in fact they were all very friendly. The weekend spot on the hill by the playground will offer you some great young and fun neighbors. By day 2 it felt like we were part of the group. If I was looking at seasonal spots, next to the playground is where its at!! We will definitley be back!
