Lake Ripley Campgrounds Introduce
For local residents in and around Litchfield, Minnesota, searching for "camping near me," Lake Ripley Campgrounds, located at 1810 S Ripley Dr, Litchfield, MN 55355, USA, offers a lakeside camping experience. With contact numbers (320) 693-7201 and +1 320-693-7201 available, it provides a direct line for inquiries and reservations. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground presents a mix of appealing features and potential drawbacks that local users should consider.
The environment of Lake Ripley Campgrounds is notably defined by its direct access to Lake Ripley. One of the significant advantages highlighted in the reviews is that "every spot is right on the lake." This lakefront setting offers campers the opportunity to enjoy scenic views, potential water activities such as swimming and fishing, and the generally tranquil ambiance associated with being near a body of water. The presence of a "nice beach" is also mentioned, suggesting a designated area for swimming and enjoying the sandy shore. For local users seeking a lakeside retreat, this direct access is a major draw.
However, one review points out a crucial environmental consideration for tent campers: the lack of shade in the tent camping area. The reviewer, who had to leave early due to heat, sun exhaustion, and sunburn despite taking precautions, specifically warns that the area was "not very tent friendly." This suggests that local users planning to camp in tents at Lake Ripley Campgrounds should inquire specifically about the availability of shaded sites or come prepared with adequate sun protection and shade structures. This is a critical factor to consider, especially during the warmer summer months in Minnesota.
In terms of services and features, Lake Ripley Campgrounds appears to cater well to RV campers, as one reviewer noted it as a "great campground if you have an RV." This implies that the campground likely offers amenities such as electrical hookups, water connections, and possibly sewer hookups suitable for recreational vehicles. However, the experience for tent campers might be less optimized.
The reviews offer mixed feedback on the campground's facilities. While one reviewer found the campgrounds to be "nice and clean," another described the "bathrooms" as "old and not the best." This suggests that while general cleanliness might be maintained, the facilities themselves might be dated and could be a point of concern for some visitors. The unusual setup of the showers and toilet stalls having "curtains instead of doors" is also mentioned, which could impact privacy and comfort levels for some campers.
The size of the campsites is also noted, with one reviewer mentioning "smallish spots." This could be a factor for local users with larger tents or RVs, as it might limit the space available for setting up and maneuvering. It's advisable for potential visitors to inquire about the dimensions of the campsites when making a reservation to ensure they can comfortably accommodate their equipment.
Another environmental factor mentioned is that the campsites are "all along a road," which results in "road noise." This is a potential drawback for local users seeking a quiet and secluded camping experience. The level of road noise might vary depending on the location of the specific campsite within the campground and the traffic volume on the adjacent road.
Despite these drawbacks, the friendly nature of the campers and the "kind owners" are highlighted as positive aspects. This suggests a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere, which can significantly enhance the overall camping experience for local users.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. Local users interested in Lake Ripley Campgrounds should contact them directly using the provided phone numbers to inquire about seasonal rates, weekend specials, or any other promotions that might be available. It would also be beneficial to ask about the availability of shaded tent sites and the specific amenities offered at each type of campsite. Given the lakefront location, they might also offer packages that include access to water-related activities or equipment rentals.
For local residents of Litchfield and the surrounding areas searching for "camping near me" with lake access, Lake Ripley Campgrounds offers a convenient option. However, potential visitors, especially those planning to tent camp, should be aware of the potential lack of shade and the reported condition of the bathroom facilities. RV campers might find the campground more suitable based on the reviews. It is recommended that local users contact the campground directly to get the most up-to-date information on site availability, amenities, and any current promotions to ensure it meets their specific needs and preferences for a lakeside camping experience.
In conclusion, Lake Ripley Campgrounds in Litchfield, MN, offers a lakefront camping experience that is highly appreciated for its access to Lake Ripley. While it appears to be well-suited for RV camping and boasts friendly campers and kind owners, tent campers should be aware of potential issues with lack of shade. The bathroom facilities are described as old and having curtains instead of doors. Local users should weigh these factors and contact the campground directly for more details to determine if it's the right "camping near me" choice for their next outdoor adventure.

Lake Ripley Campgrounds Reviews
Great campgrounds if you have an RV. We brought a tent and had no shade on our area. We ended up having to leave early because of the heat and sun exaustion and sun burn. Yes we had water and reapplied sunscreen frequently It was not very tent friendly. However the campgrounds were nice and clean the beach was nice only writing this to warn other people who want to kick it old school this summer and tent it up otherwise it was great

Jul 22, 2018 · Jill ShowalterGreat lake! wonderful camp ground! We try to get to this spot every year! This spot fills up quick, and sometimes weather can be bad, being on the east side of the lake... however we try to stay every year! Beautiful sunsets!Stay away from the RV park on the west side.
May 01, 2021 · Alec HFun little strip of land along Lake Ripley! Campground is very active during the day but quiet at night. Lots of Lakeshore perfect for swimming and floating. 2 docks for boating and fishing.
