Hermann Horse RV and Camp park Introduce
Looking for a convenient and locally situated camping experience near the charming town of Hermann, Missouri? Hermann Horse RV and Camp Park, located at 12321 MO-100, Berger, MO 63014, offers a no-frills, old-school camping experience for those seeking proximity to Hermann's attractions. You can reach them by phone at (573) 237-6600 or mobile at +1 573-237-6600 to inquire about availability and make reservations.
As a featured option in the "camping near me" category, Hermann Horse RV and Camp Park provides a basecamp for exploring the local area. While it might not boast the most modern amenities, its key advantage lies in its location. For those specifically wanting to camp in close proximity to Hermann, where camping options can be limited, this park offers a viable solution. It allows you to easily access Hermann's wineries, shops, restaurants, and historic sites without a long drive.
Based on customer reviews, the environment of Hermann Horse RV and Camp Park is described as somewhat rustic and straightforward. One reviewer noted it as "nothing more than some gravel over weeds," while another appreciated the "beautiful hilltop view." It's important to have a realistic expectation of the setting. The park is situated next to a somewhat busy two-lane highway, which may result in some road noise. Additionally, some campsites back up to a fence bordering what appears to be a junkyard, which some visitors might find less appealing.
In terms of services and features, Hermann Horse RV and Camp Park offers full hookups, which is a significant advantage for RV travelers. This includes water, sewer, and power connections at your campsite. However, one review mentioned very little water pressure and the absence of individual breakers on the power, so it's wise to be prepared for potentially variable utility performance. The park also has a communal fire pit, which can be a great place to meet other campers and enjoy an evening campfire. However, if you prefer a private fire pit at your own site, this might be a consideration.
A unique feature mentioned in the reviews is the "jam hut," which apparently provides weekend entertainment. This could be a pleasant surprise for those looking for some social interaction and local flavor during their stay. The owner is consistently described as "sweet" and operating in an "old-school and informal" manner, which suggests a more relaxed and personal camping experience. Be prepared for a less structured and perhaps less polished environment compared to more modern campgrounds.
It's worth noting the comments regarding overflow camping. When the park is busy, the owner may utilize the main lot near the jam hut for additional campers. While one reviewer didn't find this to be a negative aspect, it's something to be aware of, especially if you are seeking a more secluded or traditional campsite. The pricing was also a point of contention in one review, with a customer feeling it was overpriced compared to other options, potentially including lodging in Hermann itself. It would be prudent to inquire about the current rates and compare them with other campgrounds or accommodation options in the area to ensure it aligns with your budget and expectations.
In summary, Hermann Horse RV and Camp Park offers a conveniently located camping option for those wishing to be near Hermann. Its key strengths include its proximity to the town and the availability of full hookups. The "jam hut" entertainment and the friendly owner also contribute to its unique character. However, potential campers should be aware of the highway noise, the rustic environment (gravel and weeds), the communal fire pit, and the possibility of overflow camping in the main lot. The water pressure and electrical setup might also be less than ideal for some. It's crucial to understand the nature of this campground – an older, more informal operation focused on location rather than extensive amenities – to fully appreciate your stay.
For local users searching for "camping near me" and specifically looking to explore Hermann and its surroundings, Hermann Horse RV and Camp Park provides a functional option. We recommend contacting them directly at (573) 237-6600 to discuss your specific needs, inquire about current rates, and get a clear understanding of what to expect during your stay. By having open communication with the owner, you can ensure that this campground meets your requirements for a local camping adventure.
While some reviews highlight areas for potential improvement, the recurring theme of the owner's friendliness and the park's convenient location for accessing Hermann suggest that for the right kind of camper – one who prioritizes proximity and full hookups over modern amenities and a pristine environment – Hermann Horse RV and Camp Park can serve as a suitable base for exploring the beautiful Hermann area. As one satisfied customer concluded, "we WILL stay here again and we would recommend to our friends with full disclosure."

Hermann Horse RV and Camp park Reviews
You have to understand what you are booking in order to appreciate your stay here. This park is owned by a sweet, older gentleman who operates very old-school and informal. Nothing fancy here and why should there be??? Its called CAMPING.The good: you're close to Hermann (and there is not a lot of camping around Hermann), the jam hut makes for a good entertainment on the weekends, the owner is sweet, beautiful hilltop view, and full hook ups.The less than good but not bad: the camp is next to a somewhat busy 2 lane highway. If they are really busy, owner will put a couple of overflow campers in the main lot by the jam hut (its not a bad thing, but maybe not for everyone). There is only one communal fire pit (if you don't like to meet her people, you may not like that).Inconclusion, we WILL stay here again and we would recommend to our friends with full disclosure.
Sep 20, 2020 · Gennesa JaneNothing more than some gravel over weeds with water, sewer and power. Right next to highway on front and you back into the fence of the junkyard. Creepy at best. Way over priced. Could of stayed in Herman for a week with what we paid him for 2 nights. Very little water pressure! No individual breakers on power. Will never go back! Very misleading description over the phone.
May 26, 2022 · Julie FraserSo much fun! Water, sewer, and electrical hook-ups. Luis's prices are very reasonable considering it is October Fest! It is a great place to end you day around the campfire with your friends after spending all day at the wineries.
Oct 09, 2022 · Tracy McCombsGreat little indoor/outdoor country bar with large selection of local wines, beer, and karaoke. Great location to park your RV and visit all the local wineries. The alcoholic slushies are a must have and owner is very nice.
