Osage Bluff Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Warsaw, Missouri area? Consider Osage Bluff Campground, located on Truman Lake at an unnamed road in Warsaw, MO 65355, USA. While one reviewer notes it as their "least favorite" among the Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Truman Lake, it still receives high praise, particularly for its exceptional value during the shoulder seasons and its scenic environment. Let's delve into what Osage Bluff Campground offers for local camping enthusiasts.
One of the most significant features highlighted in the reviews is the affordability of Osage Bluff Campground, especially during the shoulder seasons. From October 1st to November 30th and again from March 15th to April 15th, all campsites, including those with electric hookups, are available for an incredibly low rate of just $10 per night, and even $5 per night for those with the America the Beautiful pass. This makes it an exceptionally budget-friendly option for those looking to extend their camping season into the fall or get an early start in the spring. This pricing structure is a major draw, offering significant savings compared to peak season rates and potentially other campgrounds in the area.
The environment of Osage Bluff Campground is described as "beautiful," with one reviewer stating it would get 5 stars for the views alone. Being a Corps of Engineers campground on Truman Lake, it's likely situated in a naturally attractive setting with lake access and potentially scenic overlooks. Truman Lake itself is known for its large size and recreational opportunities, suggesting that campers at Osage Bluff can expect a lakeside environment with opportunities for fishing, boating, and enjoying the natural beauty of the area.
However, some drawbacks were mentioned regarding the facilities, which is typical for some Corps of Engineers sites according to one reviewer. The bathrooms are described as "old, buggy," and lacking soap for hand washing. Additionally, the showers are noted as needing some work. These are important considerations for campers who rely on campground amenities for hygiene and comfort. If you prioritize modern and well-maintained bathroom facilities, this might be a point of concern.
Despite the issues with the bathrooms and showers, the reviewers still express overall positive experiences, particularly those who are "self-contained campers." If you have your own bathroom and shower facilities within your RV or camper, these drawbacks would be less of an issue. One reviewer specifically "loved our site," indicating that the individual campsites themselves are appealing.
For those who prefer a more rustic experience, the campground also offers "primitive" camping options. These sites are noted as being in "amazing" locations next to the water. This suggests that if you enjoy tent camping closer to the lake, Osage Bluff Campground has particularly desirable spots for a more immersive natural experience. Waking up to the views and sounds of Truman Lake from a primitive campsite could be a significant draw for many.
In summary, the features and services of Osage Bluff Campground include:
- Extremely Low Shoulder Season Rates: $10 per site (or $5 with the America the Beautiful pass) from October 1st to November 30th and March 15th to April 15th, including electric hookup sites.
- Beautiful Environment and Views: Located on Truman Lake, offering scenic vistas.
- Electric Hookups Available: Some campsites are equipped with electric hookups.
- Primitive Campsites by the Water: Amazing locations for tent camping right next to Truman Lake.
Points to consider:
- Older Bathroom Facilities: Described as old, buggy, and lacking soap.
- Showers Need Work: The condition of the showers is noted as needing improvement.
- Campsites Closer Together: One reviewer felt the campsites were a bit closer together compared to other Corps campgrounds.
For local users looking for "camping near me" around Truman Lake, Osage Bluff Campground presents a compelling option, especially if you are camping during the shoulder seasons and are looking for an affordable getaway. If you are a self-contained camper or prefer primitive camping by the water, the drawbacks of the older facilities might be less significant. The beautiful environment and the value offered by the low rates are strong incentives to consider this campground.
To get more specific information about the layout of the campground, the types of campsites available (beyond electric and primitive), and the current condition of the facilities, it would be advisable to contact Osage Bluff Campground directly using the provided phone numbers, (660) 438-3873 or +1 660-438-3873. You could inquire about site availability, specific amenities at each site, and the status of the bathroom and shower facilities.
In conclusion, Osage Bluff Campground on Truman Lake offers a beautiful setting and remarkably low rates during its shoulder seasons, making it a fantastic value for "camping near me." While the bathroom facilities have been noted as older and in need of maintenance, the appeal of lakefront primitive sites and the availability of electric hookups cater to different camping styles. If you're in the Warsaw, MO area and seeking an affordable and scenic camping experience, particularly outside the peak summer months, Osage Bluff Campground is definitely worth considering. Just be aware of the potential limitations of the restroom and shower facilities.

Osage Bluff Campground Reviews
Of all of the Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Truman Lake, this one is my least favorite. That being said it still gets 5☆s due to their extremely low shoulder season rates. All campsites including those with Electric hookups are only $10 ($5 with America the beautiful pass) Oct.1- Nov.30 & March 15th-April 15th. It is a beautiful Campground but the campsites just seemed a bit closer together than many of the other Corps campgrounds.Thank you USACE for staying open until November and providing wonderful campgrounds and campsites at such a great price.
Nov 16, 2024 · Rebecca LentsIt would get 5stars for views alone...but as is typical for corps of engineers sites, the bathrooms are old, buggy, and there is no soap for hand washing. The showers need a bit of work, too. If you are a self-contained camper, your set. Loved our site. If you camp primitive, their next to the water location are amazing.
Oct 11, 2020 · Deana HillWhat a beautiful, enjoyable campground. The views, sunsets and cleanliness was excellent. A "do-over" for sure.
May 02, 2021 · Leslie CardinaleWe love this campground. It has 50 amps and water hookups. The restrooms and shower house are very clean. The sites are very large and our favorite 37 is right on the water. The hosts Jim and Cythinia are the greatest. They are very friendly and drive around to talk to you. They do a great job keeping the place clean.
Jun 22, 2024 · JeffFamily stays down here every year. Absolutely beautiful views throughout the day. Sun set is great from here. The bathrooms are pretty clean but bring your own soap to wash your hands. Showers needed updated but work just fine. They are reworking their electric for the 2023 year over the winter. 30 amp to 50amp sites and some of the currently non electric will be getting electric. The host are great. They don't tolerate b.s. around camp. They take noise down here very seriously. The boat ramp is just on the other side of camp so do be ready for that if you are a later than sun rise sleeper on the outer sites here. They cleaned up the thick brush in the woods so you can see the water from sites you couldn't really see it before. Makes for a better breeze on the warms days in camp. Tents are welcome. Mostly RV's and travel trailers down here though. Overall great place to stay.
