Masonic West River Campground Introduce
For local residents and travelers exploring the Hutchinson, Minnesota area in search of a well-regarded "camping near me" experience, the Masonic West River Campground, located at 1110 MN-7, Hutchinson, MN 55350, presents an attractive option. Based on recent customer feedback, this campground appears to be a popular choice, offering a range of amenities and access to local attractions. While one review does mention an administrative concern, the overall impression suggests a pleasant camping environment with desirable features.
One reviewer shared their experience on what seems to have been the opening day of the season, noting the popularity of the full hookup sites: "Opening Day, all the $40 full hookups were fully booked because it's such a nice park." This indicates that Masonic West River Campground is considered a desirable location, especially for RVers seeking the convenience of full hookups (water, electricity, and sewer). The fact that these sites were fully booked on opening day suggests that reservations, particularly for full hookup sites, might be advisable, especially during peak season or on weekends.
The same reviewer also provided information about other camping options available: "Tent sites and electric hook ups available riverside." This highlights the variety of accommodations offered, catering to different camping preferences. For those who prefer tent camping or RVs that only require electricity, the riverside location of these sites could be particularly appealing, offering scenic views and a potentially more natural ambiance. The availability of electric hookups for some sites provides a degree of convenience for powering devices and appliances.
For travelers passing through or those not staying overnight but needing essential services, Masonic West River Campground offers practical amenities: "$3 dump & water fill for travelers." This is a valuable service for RVers who need to empty their holding tanks or replenish their water supply, and the nominal fee makes it an accessible option. Additionally, the campground provides recreational opportunities with a "$ paddleboard rental available." This allows guests to enjoy the river directly from the campground, adding an element of fun and outdoor activity to their stay.
The location of Masonic West River Campground is also a significant draw, with the reviewer mentioning a "Wildlife Sanctuary adjacent." This proximity offers opportunities for nature enthusiasts to observe local wildlife and enjoy the natural surroundings. Furthermore, the campground benefits from being near local recreational infrastructure: "over 26 miles of bike trails in the city." This extensive network of bike trails provides campers with ample opportunities for cycling and exploring the Hutchinson area. For those looking for water-based recreation beyond the river, a "Municipal Waterpark across town" offers a family-friendly option for swimming and aquatic fun.
Another reviewer offered a concise overall assessment: "Nice place." However, they also mentioned a caveat: "Only reason they didn't get a 5 star is because of the poor attitude of the administration. Good thing you hardly have to deal with them." This feedback is important for potential visitors to note. While the campground itself and its amenities seem to be well-regarded, there appears to be an issue with the administrative aspect that affected this reviewer's experience. The silver lining, according to the review, is that interaction with the administration might be infrequent.
Based on these reviews, Masonic West River Campground offers a range of appealing features for those seeking "camping near me" in Hutchinson, MN. Key aspects include:
- Full Hookup RV Sites: Popular and likely in high demand, offering water, electricity, and sewer connections for RVs, priced at $40 (as of the review).
- Riverside Tent and Electric Hookup Sites: Providing scenic camping options for tents and RVs needing electricity, potentially at a different price point than full hookups (though not specified).
- Essential Services for Travelers: A convenient and affordable dump and water fill station available for a $3 fee.
- On-Site Recreation: Paddleboard rentals offer a fun way to enjoy the adjacent river.
- Proximity to Nature: Adjacent to a Wildlife Sanctuary, providing opportunities for wildlife viewing and nature walks.
- Access to Local Amenities: Close to over 26 miles of bike trails within the city and a Municipal Waterpark located across town.
- Generally Nice Park: Overall positive feedback regarding the campground environment and facilities.
- Potential Administrative Issues: One reviewer noted a negative experience with the administration, though interactions might be limited.
While specific promotional offers or detailed pricing for tent and electric hookup sites are not mentioned in the reviews, the information provided strongly suggests a well-equipped and conveniently located campground. The popularity of the full hookup sites indicates a demand for quality RV camping in the area. The availability of riverside tent and electric sites caters to a broader range of camping preferences. The on-site paddleboard rental and the proximity to a wildlife sanctuary and extensive bike trails enhance the recreational appeal of the campground.
For local users considering Masonic West River Campground for their "camping near me" needs, it appears to be a solid choice with a good range of amenities and access to local attractions. However, the comment regarding the administrative attitude is something to keep in mind, although the reviewer suggests it might not significantly impact the overall camping experience due to limited interaction. To obtain the most current information on pricing for all site types, reservation policies, and any seasonal promotions, it is recommended to contact Masonic West River Campground directly. The phone number is not provided in the initial information, so potential campers may need to search online for contact details to make inquiries and reservations. Despite the one administrative concern, the positive aspects of the campground, including its location, amenities, and popularity, make it a strong contender for camping in the Hutchinson, MN area.

Dec 14, 2024 · Dustin BablerNice campground, not far from the town. There is a basketball and volleyball area to play and a small playground for kids. Crow river runs by campground, so fishing is an option. There is a paddle boat/kayak rental center but it is open on Thursday and Sunday (currently). There is no shower area and the bathroom nearby was not well-maintained.Besides that, they do have an animal sanctuary and a nicely paved trail to walk. They could do a better job cleaning up after the geese so the trails are not all clear.
May 30, 2023 · Areeha DurraniCozy, inexpensive, right on the Crow river. 4th of July weekend 2023.The electric hook up sites on the river are very large, large enough for multiple campers (were that allowed). The full hookup sites are only about 100 yards away from the river.Lots of old growth trees that provide shade but some site are a bit sparse. The best sites for shade along the river are 15 - 19. Sites 19 and 18 have the greatest distance between them if you're looking for a large space for a group gathering. The group camping sites have tons of room too. We only saw a couple of tents pitched there on a holiday weekend. There's a rental shack for kayaks that's open Thur - Sun.There's several toilets (flushies) and two unisex showers. The shower/toilet combos were very clean, the toilet by the pavilion less so.There's a paved bike and walking path right along the river. It's part of the Luce Line trail. You can ride bikes or walk right into downtown, just a mile away. The park is just a few hundred yards off one of the main drags in Hutchinson but it still feels secluded. And if you forgot to bring anything there's multiple convenience stores minutes away. There's dumpsters for trash and a dump station. For the sites that are electric only there's only one water fill that we found, by site 15.
Jul 03, 2023 · Michael SmithWe had a great time at this campground! We loved having a lakeside hookup lot, with easy access to the (very clean) bathrooms, playground, and bike trails. Can't wait to go back.
