Laurel Hill State Park Campground Introduce
Looking for a serene "camping near me" experience? Consider Laurel Hill State Park Campground, a destination nestled in the heart of Somerset, Pennsylvania. This state park campground offers a natural retreat for local users seeking a break from the everyday. Located at Somerset, PA 15501, USA, Laurel Hill State Park Campground can be reached at (814) 445-7725 or their mobile number +1 814-445-7725 for inquiries and reservations.
Based on recent feedback from campers, Laurel Hill State Park Campground generally provides a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. One visitor in September 2024 noted the overall tranquility, highlighting the calm lake and the peaceful walking trail. This suggests that the park offers opportunities for relaxation and immersion in nature, making it an appealing option for those seeking a restful getaway close to home.
The campground features sites with what one reviewer described as "decent spacing," which can contribute to a sense of privacy and allow campers to enjoy their own space. However, it's important to note that one camper experienced an "extremely unlevel" site (site 250). This is something to be aware of when making reservations, and it might be beneficial to inquire about the levelness of specific sites if this is a concern for you. It's always a good practice to bring leveling blocks for your RV or camper to ensure a comfortable setup, regardless of the site's initial condition.
In terms of essential amenities, the reviews indicate that the bathroom and shower facilities are maintained to a satisfactory standard, with one camper stating they were "clean." Furthermore, the shower was reported to have "good water pressure and hot water," which are often appreciated features by campers. However, it's worth noting that the same reviewer mentioned water pooling on the bathroom floor, suggesting a potential maintenance issue to be aware of.
For those relying on cellular communication, it's crucial to understand the limitations at Laurel Hill State Park Campground. According to one recent visitor, there is "no cell service for Verizon or AT&T." This lack of connectivity could be a significant factor for campers who need to stay connected or rely on their phones for navigation or emergencies. It's advisable to plan accordingly and inform others of the potential communication challenges before your visit. Embrace the opportunity to disconnect and immerse yourself in nature, but be prepared for limited or no cell service.
Another important piece of information regarding services is the availability of potable water. One camper noted that there is "no potable water available to fill tank except next to dump station." This implies that filling your water tanks might require an extra step and could potentially involve using the water source near the sewage disposal area. Campers should be prepared for this and ensure they have appropriate equipment and sanitation practices in place when utilizing this water source. It might be wise to carry an adequate supply of water with you, especially if you have a large tank to fill.
Based on the available information, Laurel Hill State Park Campground offers a generally quiet and nature-oriented camping experience near Somerset, Pennsylvania. The decent spacing between sites is a positive aspect, although the levelness of individual sites can vary. The bathroom and shower facilities are reportedly clean with good water pressure and hot water, but potential water pooling on the bathroom floor is something to be mindful of. The significant limitations regarding cell service for major carriers like Verizon and AT&T, as well as the specific location for potable water fill-ups, are crucial pieces of information for planning your trip.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. However, state park campgrounds often offer affordable camping options and access to natural resources and recreational activities within the park. Laurel Hill State Park itself likely provides opportunities for hiking, exploring the lake, and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. To learn about any current promotions, seasonal rates, or specific amenities offered, it is recommended to contact the campground directly at (814) 445-7725 or +1 814-445-7725 or visit the official Pennsylvania State Parks website.
For local users seeking a tranquil "camping near me" option in Somerset County, Laurel Hill State Park Campground presents an opportunity to connect with nature. While the reviews highlight some areas for potential improvement, the overall quiet atmosphere and natural setting are appealing. Be sure to consider the lack of cell service and the specific information regarding potable water when planning your visit to ensure a comfortable and well-prepared camping experience. Contact the campground directly for site-specific information and any current updates or regulations.

Laurel Hill State Park Campground Reviews
Overall quiet except for the few campers that couldn't control their dogs. Lake was calm and walking trail was peaceful in September 2024
Sep 28, 2024 · Justin BurrellNice campground with sites that have decent spacing. However our site (250) was extremely unlevel. The bathroom and showers were clean. The shower had good water pressure and hot water. Water pooled on the bathroom floor. There is no cell service for Verizon or AT&T. No potable water available to fill tank except next to dump station.
May 29, 2023 · adamltwThis is a beautiful park and campground. Camp sites are clean and well cared for. There is lots to see and do not only in the park, but within easy driving distance. There are limited full hook ups, many with electric only , and a number of great tenting sites. Reservations are important for holidays and events either in the park or nearby. Wood and ice are available on site as is dump station and potable water at entry. Check in and out at 3pm. There is a pet friendly loop and other areas are non pet, so make sure if you have a pet that you get a site in the pet loop. Check the park website for available activities etc.
Oct 12, 2021 · Jim WeemsBeautiful family camping experience with gorgeous lake views, straight from our tent. Each camping spot has a picnic table, fire ring and grilling setup. There are plenty activities to do with family or friends: hiking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, paddle boarding, biking, etc. Will definitely camp there again.
Jul 27, 2021 · Simona BalintWe recently camped here and it was great!! Very nice place with large campsites. The bathrooms were clean, and well maintained. We will definitely return in the future.
