This area is known for its rolling hills, wooded landscapes, and proximity to outdoor recreational opportunities. Campers can anticipate a setting conducive to a peaceful retreat, with the potential for nearby hiking trails and access to the natural attractions of Somerset County. The campground's name, "Lost Mountain," itself suggests a location nestled within or near mountainous terrain, offering a sense of seclusion and immersion in nature. One positive review highlights the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of the campground, indicating that it can be an appealing destination for those seeking tranquility in their 'camping near me' search.
Based on customer reviews, the services at Lost Mountain Campground appear to be a mix of standard camping amenities and areas where experiences can differ. One positive review commends the staff as "very accommodating, friendly, and willing to go above and beyond to help." This suggests a commitment to guest service by at least some members of the staff. The same review also mentions that the facilities are "well kept and clean," which is an important aspect for any camper seeking a comfortable stay. Firewood is reportedly available at a "pretty good amount for what you pay for," which can be a significant convenience for those planning campfires.
However, another review presents a contrasting experience, describing a negative interaction with the owner characterized by rudeness and what was perceived as an attempt to maximize charges. This review mentions a disagreement regarding fees for a utility trailer and a demand for the exact number of occupants prior to arrival. It's important for potential guests to be aware of these differing accounts regarding customer service and potentially the campground's policies on additional vehicles and guest counts. The fact that one reviewer felt compelled to mention the campground being "empty" might also be a point of consideration, though it's unclear if this was an isolated observation or a consistent trend.
The features of Lost Mountain Campground seem to include notably large campsites, as highlighted in a positive review. The reviewer stated that the sites are "HUGE" and provide a better camping experience compared to many other places in the area. This spaciousness could be a significant advantage for campers with larger tents, multiple vehicles, or those who simply appreciate more room and privacy at their site. The availability of trails nearby is also mentioned, catering to those interested in hiking and exploring the local area. Its proximity to Seven Springs Mountain Resort suggests potential access to a wider range of activities and attractions, depending on the season.
The quiet and peaceful atmosphere, as mentioned in one review, can be considered a key feature for those seeking a relaxing camping experience away from noise and crowds. The same reviewer also noted that "people are respectful of the quiet time," indicating a community of campers who value a peaceful environment. This could be particularly appealing to families and individuals looking for a serene natural retreat within their 'camping near me' options.
Regarding promotional information, the provided text does not contain any specific details about current discounts or special offers at Lost Mountain Campground. Local users interested in potential promotions should inquire directly when contacting the campground via phone. It's possible that they might offer seasonal rates, discounts for longer stays, or other incentives to attract campers. Given the mixed reviews regarding management and occupancy, it would be prudent for potential guests to ask about current policies on additional vehicles, guest counts, and any other fees to ensure a clear understanding before booking.
One particularly positive aspect highlighted in a review is the understanding and kindness shown by the owner/operator in a situation where a camper accidentally left without paying. The owner contacted the camper and arranged for payment via check, leaving the camper with a very positive impression after two previous enjoyable weekends at the campground with "great rates." This anecdote suggests that despite some reported negative interactions, there can also be instances of considerate and accommodating behavior from the management. This highlights the importance of considering multiple perspectives when evaluating a campground based on individual reviews.
In conclusion, Lost Mountain Campground near Rockwood, PA, offers the appealing features of large campsites, a potentially quiet and peaceful environment, and proximity to outdoor activities and Seven Springs. While one review raises concerns about customer service and certain policies, another praises the helpful staff and clean facilities. The positive experience of a camper who was treated with understanding after an oversight also suggests that positive interactions can occur. Local users searching for 'camping near me' in the Somerset County area should weigh these differing perspectives and consider contacting the campground directly to inquire about current services, features, policies, and any available promotions to determine if it meets their needs and expectations for a camping getaway.

Lost Mountain Campground Reviews
We had planned a nice family vacation here but I guess they are hurting for money because they wanted to charge us for an additional campsite for a utility trailer. When I questioned why the owner started screaming at us and woke our grand children in another camper. She is very rude person over the phone and face to face. We will never stay there again. There are a lot of other nicer campgrounds in the area. We were also not sure who was coming and in a phone conversation she demanded to know how many in each of our campers. I told her that we would settle it when we arrived at the site. She demanded numbers right then. I guess she wanted maximum number to collect as much money as they could. The place was empty, hardly any people camping but I guess I know why now.
Jun 12, 2023 · Tom JacksonThe staff at Lost Mountain are very accommodating, friendly, and willing to go above an beyond to help. The sites are HUGE and provide for a better camping experience than most other places in the area. The facilities are well kept and clean. You get a pretty good amount of Firewood for what you pay for, unlike some other places. It is very quiet and peaceful, and people are respectful of the quiet time. Lots of trails nearby and just minutes to Seven Springs.I accidentally left without paying for the site and the owner/operator called me . She was very understanding and told me to send a check. I felt terrible about the mistake after having been treated so kindly for two weekends in a row at such great rates. We will definitely be going back here next year for an extended stay.
Sep 20, 2016 · MikeVisiting some friends that were on site we noticed some upgrading being done. Maybe adding additional sites. It seemed to be full hook up on the rv sites available which is a nice feature. The bath house was as good as it could be with a full camp area. The pool said heated, but it definitely wasn't for some reason or another. Personally I prefer having a bit of space between camp sites. These seemed to close together for me personally, specially when a fellow camper brings out the impact guns to set their stability jacks amongst other things. Sometimes quality is better than quantity when it comes to camping and personal space. Other than that it seemed good.
Aug 13, 2021 · LarryI loved being up here. It's so peaceful and pretty. The pool is really nice. All the other campers I met were friendly and respectful. A great place to park your RV or pitch a tent for a weekend.
Jul 19, 2022 · jackie pNice quiet campground. Nice playground and a small heated pool. Very nice owners and residents. Sites and facilities were well kept. They had a fenced deer viewing area with a few deer inside. Not too far from everything to do in the area.
