Lee Creek Campground Introduce
For local residents of Montana seeking a "camping near me" experience near the scenic town of Lolo, Lee Creek Campground, located on Lee Creek Rd, offers a smaller and generally quiet retreat in a natural setting. You can reach them at (406) 329-3750 or +1 406-329-3750 for inquiries and reservations. Based on recent customer reviews, Lee Creek Campground provides a mix of environments and amenities across its upper and lower campsites, making it a versatile option for different camping preferences.
The environment surrounding Lee Creek Campground appears to be conducive to outdoor activities, with reviewers noting the presence of "decent trails for hiking or biking." This suggests that the campground serves as a good base for exploring the natural beauty of the Lolo area on foot or by bicycle. The trails likely wind through the surrounding forests and terrain, offering opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and potentially observe local wildlife. For local trail enthusiasts, the easy access from the campground is a significant advantage.
The campground itself is described as "smaller and fairly quiet," which can be a major draw for those seeking a more peaceful and less crowded camping experience. This intimate setting allows for a greater connection with nature and a more relaxing atmosphere, away from the often bustling environment of larger campgrounds. The tranquility of Lee Creek Campground makes it an appealing option for individuals, couples, and families looking for a serene getaway.
One important environmental factor mentioned in the reviews is the impact of recent logging. Due to "necessary logging of damaged timber," some of the campsites, particularly in the upper lot according to a later review, lack shade. This is a practical consideration for campers, especially during warmer months, as prolonged sun exposure can affect comfort levels. However, the logging has a silver lining, as it reportedly results in "lots of wood for campfires," which is a significant amenity for many campers who enjoy the warmth and ambiance of a campfire in the evenings.
The campground seems to be divided into an upper and a lower campsite, each with distinct characteristics. One reviewer specifically recommends trying to secure a camping spot in the "lower campsite for shade and working water." This indicates that the lower section of the campground benefits from more tree cover, providing natural shade, and also has reliable access to water. This would likely make the lower campsite more desirable for those prioritizing comfort and convenience.
In contrast, the same reviewer noted that they "stayed in the upper lot which is exposed to sun and weather." This confirms the lack of shade in at least some parts of the upper campsite. Campers choosing the upper lot should be prepared for more direct sunlight and potentially greater exposure to rain or wind. However, the abundance of firewood might be more readily available in this area due to the logging.
Despite the differences between the upper and lower campsites, the hosts at Lee Creek Campground are described as "nice." Friendly and helpful hosts can significantly enhance the camping experience, providing assistance, information about the area, and ensuring a pleasant stay for all visitors.
Overall, one reviewer summarized their experience as "a decent stop along the way," suggesting that Lee Creek Campground is a reliable option for both longer stays and as a convenient overnight stop for travelers. The combination of natural beauty, trails, and a quieter atmosphere makes it a worthwhile "camping near me" destination for local Montanans.
In terms of services and amenities, the reviews mention "working water" in the lower campsite, implying the availability of potable water in at least that section. The presence of trails suggests opportunities for hiking and biking. The provision of firewood, likely due to the logging, is another notable amenity. However, the reviews do not explicitly mention other common campground facilities such as restrooms (flush or vault), showers, picnic tables, or fire rings at each campsite. Local users should inquire about these amenities when making reservations or contacting the campground.
For promotional information targeting local users, Lee Creek Campground can be highlighted for its decent hiking and biking trails, its smaller and quieter nature, and the availability of campsites in both shaded (lower lot) and sunnier (upper lot) areas. The friendly hosts also contribute to a positive camping experience. The abundance of firewood for campfires is another appealing feature. Potential campers should be advised to inquire about the specific amenities available at each campsite and to express their preference for shade or sun when booking, if possible.
To further enhance its appeal, Lee Creek Campground could provide more detailed information about the hiking and biking trails accessible from the campground, including their length and difficulty. Highlighting any scenic viewpoints or natural attractions in the immediate vicinity would also be beneficial. Information about wildlife that might be encountered in the area could add to the experience for nature lovers. Clear directions to the campground from Lolo and surrounding areas would also be helpful for local users.
In conclusion, Lee Creek Campground near Lolo, Montana, offers a tranquil "camping near me" option with decent trails for hiking and biking. Its smaller size contributes to a quieter atmosphere, making it a peaceful retreat. Campers have the choice between potentially shadier spots with water access in the lower campsite and sunnier spots with ample firewood in the upper lot. The friendly hosts ensure a pleasant stay. Local outdoor enthusiasts looking for a convenient and enjoyable camping experience in a natural Montana setting should consider Lee Creek Campground for their next adventure.

Lee Creek Campground Reviews
Decent trails for hiking or biking. Smaller and fairly quiet. Some of the spots lack shade because of necessary logging of damaged timber....but that makes for lots of wood for campfires. Enjoyed our time there!
Aug 24, 2020 · Andy CrossTry to get a camping spot in the lower campsite for shade and working water. We stayed in the upper lot which is exposed to sun and weather. Nice hosts there. Overall, it was a decent stop along the way.
Sep 03, 2023 · Bryan DeesLots of spaces to choose from. Good stop between Lewiston and Missoula.
Jul 26, 2023 · Greg RussellNice Forest Service campground. We had site 3, with a level place to pitch our tent and right next to the creek. There were plenty of spots when we arrived around 7:30 pm on a Monday evening in August. The vault toilet was clean and not too smelly and there were no particular problems with bugs. It cost ten dollars a night.
Aug 18, 2018 · David RobertsUnexpected gem. Two camping areas, one heavily treed on creek, and another on a shelf above the other area and interspersed with some pine and larch, most of which have been removed due to insects and disease. Paved road and driveways. Best part was the plethora of hiking trails allowing easy access to gorgeous country. Lolo Hot Springs only 1.4 miles away. Only complaint was bathrooms. We never observed them being cleaned during our seven days.
