Lewiston Shady Acres Campground Introduce
Are you a local resident in search of "camping near me" in the Lewiston, Michigan area, perhaps prioritizing affordability and shaded campsites? Lewiston Shady Acres Campground, located at 4329 N Red Oak Rd, presents a budget-conscious option for those looking to explore the natural beauty of Northern Michigan. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground offers both advantages and drawbacks that local users should consider when planning their next outdoor getaway.
One of the frequently mentioned positives of Lewiston Shady Acres Campground is the presence of "long narrow lots with shade." This is a significant benefit, particularly during the warmer months, as shaded campsites provide relief from the sun and contribute to a more comfortable camping experience. For local users seeking "camping near me" where they can stay cool and protected from direct sunlight, this feature could be quite appealing.
Another positive aspect highlighted in the reviews is the "nice large clean Bathrooms." Clean and well-maintained restroom facilities are essential for a comfortable camping experience, and the positive feedback in this regard suggests that Lewiston Shady Acres Campground prioritizes this aspect of guest comfort. This can be a significant factor for families and individuals alike when choosing a "camping near me" location.
The campground also features a "small playground area," which can be a valuable amenity for families with young children. Having a designated space for kids to play can enhance the overall camping experience for families looking for "camping near me" that caters to the needs of all age groups.
Furthermore, one reviewer noted that "the owner Dennis was extremely friendly." Hospitable and helpful campground staff can significantly contribute to a positive camping experience, making guests feel welcome and assisting with any needs or questions. This personal touch can be a key differentiator when choosing a "camping near me" option.
The availability of "20/30 amp power" at the campsites is also a practical feature for those camping with RVs or requiring electricity for their equipment. Knowing the power options available is crucial for ensuring compatibility and convenience for campers with electrical needs when searching for "camping near me" that accommodates their setup.
However, the reviews also point out several areas of concern. One reviewer described the "entrance & office area" as being in an "unkempt condition" and noted that the "area & campgrounds were rundown." This suggests that the overall aesthetic and maintenance of the campground might not be up to the standards of all campers. Local users who prioritize a well-maintained and visually appealing environment might find this to be a significant drawback when considering "camping near me."
Another crucial point raised is the potential functionality of the amenities. The reviewer advises to "call ahead to make sure the pool and hot tub are working." This implies that these amenities might not always be operational, which could be disappointing for guests who are expecting to use them as part of their "camping near me" experience. It underscores the importance of verifying the availability of specific amenities before booking a stay.
Perhaps one of the most significant limitations mentioned in the reviews is the lack of connectivity: "NO CELL SERVICE OR WI-FI 😟 but the whole area up there has very little service." In today's connected world, the absence of cell service and Wi-Fi can be a major inconvenience for many local users. While some may see this as an opportunity to disconnect and fully immerse themselves in nature, others may find it challenging for communication, navigation, or accessing information. It's important for local users searching for "camping near me" in this area to be aware of this limitation.
Despite the drawbacks, one reviewer concluded that "for what we needed we will probably return," citing the "great price" as a significant factor, especially as they primarily used the campground for evenings after day trips. This suggests that Lewiston Shady Acres Campground offers a budget-friendly option for local users who are primarily looking for an affordable place to sleep while exploring the surrounding area. For those prioritizing cost-effectiveness over extensive on-site amenities and a pristine environment, this campground might be a viable "camping near me" choice.
The question "Is there an Updated number for booking?" suggests that potential guests might have encountered difficulties reaching the campground using the provided phone numbers or are seeking confirmation of the correct contact information. Local users attempting to book a stay should verify the phone numbers: (989) 786-3000 and +1 989-786-3000, to ensure they are using the most current contact details.
In conclusion, Lewiston Shady Acres Campground in Lewiston, Michigan, offers shaded campsites, clean bathrooms, and a friendly owner at a potentially attractive price point. It also features a small playground and 20/30 amp power. However, local users considering this "camping near me" option should be aware of the reported rundown condition of the grounds, the potential for non-operational amenities like the pool and hot tub, and the lack of cell service and Wi-Fi. For budget-conscious campers who plan to spend most of their time exploring the surrounding area and prioritize shade and clean facilities, Lewiston Shady Acres Campground might be a suitable choice, provided they are prepared for the limited connectivity and potential maintenance issues.

Lewiston Shady Acres Campground Reviews
Long narrow lots with shade. Entrance & office area are in a unkempt condition. Call ahead to make sure the pool and hot tub are working. Nice large clean Bathrooms. It did have a small playground area but the area & campgrounds were rundown. We did a lot of day trips and really only was around for the evening. So the price was great for this. It has 20/30 amp power. The owner Dennis was extremely friendly. It’s not the greatest but for what we needed we will probably return. NO CELL SERVICE OR WI-FI 😟 but the whole area up there has very little service.
Oct 11, 2022 · Mary Jo WarrenIs there an Updated number for booking?I have stayed here before it was nice.
Jan 28, 2025 · Elliott SmithI have not camped a lot ad an adult but did camp a ton when a kid. My whole family camped here for a few days and this is the worst campground I every remember! It has a pretty cheap nightly rate, but be prepared to use your own bathroom in your camper. If you are unlucky like me and tent camp, you will be highly disappointed with their bathrooms. The woman's bathroom has the ceiling caving in and it was like that a year ago. So clearly they do not do much in the way of maintenance. We did not try the pool. The playground is a joke and pretty run down. The lady who manages it often loses information so make sure you keep your receipt to confirm you paid! I would not recommend staying here.
Jul 17, 2021 · Jacquelyn WardDon't believe the photos. The place is definitely run down and the photos have to be from years ago. No working pool, no working hot tub. No fire ring and the sites are very close. If your looking for a place to stay overnight with no kids, this place will do. For those with kids find somewhere else
Jul 22, 2022 · Geoffrey JosephIts a decent place to camp and worth the money. They even have an indoor pool. The only complaint would be the bathrooms. They're clean but there was only one lightbulb in the entire men's room so you'll need to bring your own lighting. Still, I'd stay again!
