Libby's Oceanside Camp Introduce
Looking for a memorable "camping near me" experience right by the ocean? Libby's Oceanside Camp, located at 725 York St in York, Maine, offers a fantastic opportunity to camp with breathtaking ocean views and easy access to the beach. Based on the provided customer reviews, this campground boasts a welcoming atmosphere, a helpful staff, and a location that has created lasting memories for many.
One long-time enthusiast shared a heartwarming account of their family's history with Libby's Oceanside Camp. They camped seasonally at this site for years, from the 1980s to the late 1990s, and fondly remember Norman, one of the owners, for his wonderful and always smiling demeanor. Raising their six children and spending summers at Libby's created their family's "greatest and fondest memories." This reviewer credits Libby's for instilling a love of camping in all their children. After over 20 years without a camper, they recently purchased one, and their first campground destination will be Libby's, a powerful testament to the positive impact this place had on their family. They encouraged the owners to "Keep up the good work. And keep smiling."
Another reviewer had an overall "wonderful" experience and stated they would "absolutely return." They specifically praised the staff as "wonderful and extremely helpful," which is always a significant factor in a positive camping experience. The location was highlighted as "great, overlooking the ocean and a very short walk down to the beach." This direct access to the ocean and the scenic views are major draws for this campground, making it an ideal choice for those who love the sea.
This reviewer did mention a few issues. Firstly, they noted that the spots are "very close" together but conceded that there is still "room to enjoy your spot, set up the picnic table and put out some chairs." They suggested that complaints about space might come from campers who bring excessive amounts of belongings. For those seeking a relaxing space by the ocean without needing to replicate their entire home setup, the space was deemed adequate.
Secondly, they pointed out that the spots have been "newly renovated with new pedestals put in (which is great!!)." However, in their specific spot, "the water spigot was attached so close to the pedestal that I couldn't even attach anything to it." They described the space as barely accommodating a thin adapter, which then required a wrench to tighten. This is a specific issue that potential campers might want to inquire about, especially if they rely on easy water hookups.
The third issue raised was that "the spots aren't even close to level," a concern also mentioned in other reviews. The reviewer noted that some oceanside spots in the lower numbers looked better in this regard. They speculated that "with the recent construction and the new layers of gravel, the gravel pads were pretty soft making it really hard to get level." Despite this challenge, they praised the staff again, noting that they were "amazing and were so helpful in working with me to get it level." This highlights the staff's commitment to customer satisfaction, even when addressing infrastructural issues.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the second reviewer reiterated that "Overall, it's a wonderful spot, and I'd absolutely return." This suggests that the positive aspects, such as the location, the staff, and the overall atmosphere, outweigh the challenges of closely spaced and sometimes unlevel sites or inconvenient water spigot placement for many visitors.
In summary, Libby's Oceanside Camp offers a compelling "camping near me" option for those drawn to the Maine coast. Its key features include:
- A fantastic location overlooking the ocean with very short walk to the beach.
- A history of creating wonderful family memories, suggesting a welcoming and enduring appeal.
- A staff described as wonderful, extremely helpful, and always smiling.
- Recently renovated sites with new pedestals.
Potential campers should be aware that:
- Campsites may be relatively close together.
- Some water spigots might have inconvenient placement due to the renovation.
- The ground in some spots may not be level, although the staff is reportedly helpful in addressing this.
For local users dreaming of camping by the ocean, waking up to the sound of waves, and enjoying easy beach access, Libby's Oceanside Camp in York, Maine, is a strong contender. The positive testimonials about the staff and the location's ability to create cherished memories make it particularly attractive. While there are some logistical considerations regarding the campsites themselves, the overall experience seems to be highly positive for many. Libby's Oceanside Camp Reviews
My wife and I are looking forward to go back in the next season. We camped at this site seasonally for years consecutively from the 80s - late 90s.Norman one of the owners was wonderful and always smiling. Raising our 6 children and spending our summers there is still all of our families greatest and fondest memories. All my children have camping in their blood thanks to Libby's. Keep up the good work. And keep smiling. We just purchased a camper after 20+ years without, our first campground is going to be yours at Libby's.
Dec 07, 2024 · Richard DurocherOverall this was a wonderful place and I would absolutely return. The staff was wonderful and extremely helpful and we had a great time. The location was great, overlooking the ocean and a very short walk down to the beach. My only issues:yes spots are very close but there is still room to enjoy your spot, set up the picnic table and put out some chairs. I think those campers that try to make their spot resemble their home by bringing everything under the sun with them, are complaining about the space - but it was fine for enjoying a relaxing space by the ocean. The spots have been newly renovated with new pedestals put in (which is great!!) but for my spot, the water spigot was attached so close to the pedestal that I couldn't even attach anything to it. It barely had room for just a thin adapter, and even that had to be tightened with a wrench. The other issue was that (as mentioned in other reviews) the spots aren't even close to level. There are a few oceanside ones in the lower numbers that looked much better. With the recent construction and the new layers of gravel, the gravel pads were pretty soft making it really hard to get level. However the plus here, is that the staff was amazing and were so helpful in working with me to get it level.Overall, it's a wonderful spot, and I'd absolutely return.

Jun 20, 2024 · The WildthingsThe owners are kind. The facilities are clean. Fellow RV campers are quiet and respectful. It's nice to hear the waves as you fall asleep.
Oct 02, 2024 · Katelyn VernerLibbyʻs Oceanside Camp has gorgeous views! Keep in mind the average price for full hook ups is about $100 and more to be in the first row with an unobstructed view of the ocean. Also, the sites are close together, so hopefully you have nice neighbors. When we visited, we enjoyed our stay. Every camper/RVer was kind, friendly, quiet (considering how close you are to them) and the facilities (laundry - coin, showers - included in price, public bathrooms, and check in area are adequate). The facilities are older, but well-kept. The staff is lovely and do not hover, but always seem readily available to answer questions or assist. The office was open at 830a and closed around 700p. There were lots of dogs, but every guest seemed to have well-behaved dogs and when walking the loop, it seemed most owners would respect another dog+person combo and change direction, if needed. The WiFi was great, until the last day of our stay. For some reason, it was down for a full day. So, if you work remotely and need dependable WiFi, there may not be a guarantee it will be working the entirety of your stay.Overall, this was a great stay and look forward to visiting again! Thank you Libbyʻs Oceanside Camp!
