The environment at Lithia Springs Campground and Recreation Area is clearly a major highlight, with multiple reviewers praising the beauty of the lake. The lake is described as "clean and clear," suggesting an inviting body of water perfect for enjoying scenic views and potentially various water-related activities. While one primitive camper initially expected a more secluded setting, they still acknowledged the overall enjoyable stay and the beauty of the lake. Another reviewer with a family of four specifically mentioned a "beautiful view of the water" from their tent site. This indicates that many campsites likely offer pleasant vistas of the lake, enhancing the overall camping experience. The presence of "wonderful birds," including owls hooting at night, and deer suggests a natural environment rich in local wildlife, providing opportunities for nature observation and a connection with the outdoors. However, it's worth noting that the proximity to civilization also means potential noise from planes, boats, and trains, which some campers might find disruptive to a purely natural ambiance.
In terms of services, Lithia Springs Campground appears to prioritize cleanliness and convenience. A significant positive aspect highlighted by multiple reviewers is the presence of "plenty of bathroom/showers on site," which are also noted to be "very well maintained" and "super clean." This is a crucial amenity for any camper, and the positive feedback suggests that the campground takes hygiene seriously. For individual campsites, at least some, if not all, offer amenities such as a grill, an electric post, and a lantern post, providing essential infrastructure for cooking and lighting. The availability of electric posts particularly caters to RV campers and those who appreciate some level of electrical convenience at their tent sites. The positive interaction with the staff is also noteworthy. Reviewers describe the staff as "very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating," from the check-in personnel to the maintenance staff. One reviewer specifically mentioned the check-in staff assisting with setting up an online account for national park access, indicating a willingness to go above and beyond to help guests. This level of customer service contributes significantly to a positive camping experience.
One of the key features of Lithia Springs Campground is its combination of accessibility and natural beauty. While initially perceived as less "rural" by a primitive camper due to the open layout suitable for RVs and campers, the campground still offers access to the beautiful Lake Shelbyville. The availability of both RV and tent sites caters to a broad range of camping preferences. The tent sites are described as being "big with a gravel bottom," which can aid in drainage and cleanliness, but also offer "plenty of space for tenting in the dirt" for those who prefer a more traditional tent setup. The presence of individual amenities like grills, electric posts, and lantern posts at the campsites enhances convenience. The clean and well-maintained restroom and shower facilities are a significant feature that adds to the comfort of the stay. Furthermore, the option for online registration, although requiring pre-planning as walk-ins are not allowed, streamlines the check-in process for those who prefer digital convenience. The fact that one reviewer was able to locate more private settings for a future stay suggests that the campground might offer a variety of site layouts to cater to different preferences for seclusion.
While specific promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews, we can infer some potential benefits that might act as promotional draws for local users. The consistent praise for the cleanliness of the facilities and the friendliness of the staff suggests that these are key aspects the campground likely emphasizes to attract visitors. The "very enjoyable stay" and the intention of returning, expressed by multiple reviewers, serve as strong organic endorsements. For local users searching for "camping near me," the mention of a "beautiful view of the water" is a significant attraction, suggesting a scenic and relaxing environment. The fact that the staff is knowledgeable and accommodating, even assisting with things beyond the immediate campground stay (like national park access), indicates a commitment to guest satisfaction, which can be a powerful draw. While no specific discounts or special offers are mentioned, the overall positive sentiment and the focus on clean facilities and friendly service likely contribute to repeat business and positive word-of-mouth referrals among the local camping community.
In conclusion, Lithia Springs Campground and Recreation Area near Shelbyville, IL, offers a well-rounded camping experience for local users. Its beautiful lakeside environment, coupled with clean and well-maintained facilities, and a friendly, accommodating staff, makes it a desirable option within the "camping near me" category. While some campers might find the proximity to civilization resulting in some noise, the overall positive feedback, particularly regarding the lake views and the quality of amenities, suggests a welcoming and enjoyable destination for both RV and tent campers looking for a relaxing getaway in the Shelbyville area. The availability of electric hookups, grills, and lantern posts at campsites further enhances the convenience for campers. Remember that online registration is required prior to arrival. Consider Lithia Springs Campground for your next camping adventure and experience the beauty of Lake Shelbyville with reliable amenities and friendly service.

My Husband and I are Primitive Campers. Our 1st time here, we were unsure which spot to snag. You must register online, no walk ins.I expected a more rural site, but they are all open for RV and Campers. There are plenty of bathroom/showers on site, which was a Big plus! (Very well maintained!)After we got past the "it wasn't what we expected" feeling...we ended up just going ahead with it. We actually ended up having a very enjoyable stay! The Lake is so Clean and clear, absolutely beautiful!!We later drove around and located more private settings and wrote them down for a future stay!Lots of Wonderful Birds, (owls hooting at night) deer ...+Downside... 👎 I do not enjoy hearing planes, boats, and trains while I camp.We did have a Great time though.
Aug 15, 2024 · Jennifer Sorenson4.2.24 - Family of 4 stayed here one night. The tent sites are big with a gravel bottom, but also plenty of space for tenting in the dirt. There is a grill, electric post, lantern post, and a beautiful view of the water! The showers and restrooms are super clean. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating from the people at the check-in booth to the guy who cleans the shower. The check-in staff helped me get my online account setup for easier access to all national parks as a disabled veteran. Thank you all for making us feel welcome!
May 02, 2024 · StephanieOur 1st time here. We made the reservations online with no issues. The site is open for RV and Campers. There are plenty of bathroom/showers on site, which was a Big plus! (Very well maintained!)Plenty of space between spots. Each spot has their own sitting area and grill. Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy it as we were passing through. We will definitely be back and stay a few days.

Nov 02, 2024 · William BoswellLove this spacious and peaceful campground. A few precautions are necessary, be prepared for a bugs and ticks. Lots of deer roam the grounds, and you might see a raccoon if u have a sloppy campsite.
