Meadows ORV Campground

Luzerne, MI 48636, USA

4.0
The Meadows ORV campground has got the perfect name for its location. It is right in the center of the Meadows ORV trail. The Meadows loop connects to the MCCCT trail to the north and covers a lot of ground in Huron National Forest to the south of Luzerne. The trail is a 50” ORV mainly with the MCCCT moto trail weaving its way through and along side the 50” trail. The proximity to the trail is the main attraction. If you are looking for amenities in your camp site, this isn’t it. The campground itself is a rustic style with nicely spaced lots, large tree coverage, outhouse bathrooms and a hand pump well. For $10 bucks a night to be literally in the middle of trail, it doesn’t get much better than that. If you are going to get dirty, take it easy and enjoy the forest, this is the place for you. - Neal Koenig

Meadows ORV Campground Introduce

Attention all off-road vehicle (ORV) enthusiasts and nature lovers in Michigan! If you're searching for the ultimate "camping near me" experience that puts you right in the middle of premier ORV trails, look no further than Meadows ORV Campground in Luzerne. Situated directly on the Meadows ORV trail within the expansive Huron National Forest, this campground is a haven for those eager to explore the wilderness on their ATVs, motorcycles, or other off-road vehicles.

The primary and most significant feature of Meadows ORV Campground is its unparalleled proximity to the Meadows ORV trail. As one enthusiastic camper noted, the campground has the "perfect name for its location" as it sits squarely in the center of this renowned trail system. The Meadows loop is a key connection point, linking to the Michigan Cross Country Cycle Trail (MCCCT) to the north and extending southward through a significant portion of the beautiful Huron National Forest. This strategic location provides immediate and effortless access to a vast network of trails, making it an ideal destination for riders looking to maximize their time on the trails.

The trail system surrounding Meadows ORV Campground caters primarily to 50” ORVs, with the MCCCT moto trail weaving its way alongside and through the 50” trail. This combination offers a diverse riding experience, accommodating both wider off-road vehicles and motorcycles. Riders can expect to traverse a variety of terrains within the Huron National Forest, immersing themselves in the natural beauty of the area while enjoying the thrill of off-road exploration. The extensive network allows for both shorter loops and longer, more adventurous rides, catering to different preferences and skill levels.

It is important to note that Meadows ORV Campground offers a "rustic style" of camping. This means that while the location and trail access are the main attractions, the amenities within the campground itself are basic. According to a customer review, you can expect "nicely spaced lots" with "large tree coverage," providing a degree of privacy and shade. However, the facilities are described as including "outhouse bathrooms and a hand pump well." This indicates a more primitive camping experience, focusing on the natural environment and the outdoor activities rather than extensive campground amenities.

For those who prioritize direct trail access and a natural setting over luxurious amenities, Meadows ORV Campground offers exceptional value. At a very affordable price point of just $10 per night, campers can enjoy the unparalleled convenience of being "literally in the middle of trail." As one reviewer aptly put it, "it doesn’t get much better than that" for riders seeking immediate access to the Meadows ORV trail system. This affordability makes it an attractive option for individuals and groups looking to spend multiple days exploring the Huron National Forest on their ORVs without breaking the bank.

The environment surrounding Meadows ORV Campground is the pristine beauty of the Huron National Forest. Campers can expect to be immersed in a natural landscape characterized by dense woodlands, diverse flora and fauna, and the tranquility of being away from more developed areas. The "large tree coverage" mentioned in the review suggests shaded campsites, enhancing the camping experience, especially during warmer months. The peaceful atmosphere, also highlighted by a camper who noted it's "always some empty spot's for camping," further adds to the appeal for those seeking a quiet escape into nature.

Meadows ORV Campground caters specifically to those who are primarily interested in off-road riding and are comfortable with a more rustic camping setup. If your priority is to "get dirty, take it easy and enjoy the forest," as one reviewer recommended, then this campground is likely the perfect fit for you. It provides a no-frills basecamp that maximizes your time on the trails and allows you to fully immerse yourself in the natural surroundings of the Huron National Forest.

In summary, Meadows ORV Campground offers a unique and highly desirable "camping near me" experience for ORV enthusiasts. Its direct location on the Meadows ORV trail within Huron National Forest is its standout feature, providing immediate access to an extensive network of riding opportunities. While the campground itself offers rustic amenities, including outhouse bathrooms and a hand pump well, the spacious, tree-covered lots and the incredibly affordable price of $10 per night make it an exceptional value for those prioritizing trail access and a natural camping environment. If you're looking to explore the Huron National Forest on your ORV and want a convenient and budget-friendly place to camp, Meadows ORV Campground is your ideal destination.
