The environment surrounding Meeman-Shelby Forest Cabins is a significant draw for those seeking an escape into nature. Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park encompasses over 13,000 acres of diverse ecosystems, including bottomland hardwood forests, cypress swamps, and the shores of the Mississippi River. Guests at the cabins can expect to be immersed in this natural beauty, with opportunities for wildlife viewing, hiking, and enjoying the tranquility of the forest. The presence of Grassy Lake Road in the address suggests proximity to Grassy Lake, which could offer additional scenic views and potential for water-related activities, although the reviews provided do not explicitly mention this.
The cabins themselves are described as "nice" and "spacious," making them suitable for various group sizes. One review specifically mentions Cabin 4 being comfortable for two couples sharing, indicating ample room and potentially multiple sleeping areas. A notable service provided is the inclusion of clean and comfortable bedding, as one reviewer who brought their own bedding found it to be unnecessary. This suggests that the cabins are well-maintained and equipped with basic necessities for a comfortable stay. The presence of a "nicely equipped kitchen" is another significant feature, allowing guests the convenience of preparing their own meals, which can be particularly appealing for longer stays or those traveling with families.
Outdoor amenities at the cabins include a campfire place and a grill, perfect for enjoying evening campfires, cooking outdoors, and creating a traditional camping atmosphere. This setup encourages guests to spend time outside and take advantage of the natural surroundings. The pet-friendly nature of at least some of the cabins is also a valuable feature for those who travel with their furry companions, allowing them to enjoy the outdoor experience together. However, one reviewer noted that the beds are "very firm," which is something to be aware of for guests who prefer softer mattresses.
A unique feature of the location is the presence of a General Store within the vicinity of the cabins. One reviewer had a positive experience dining there, describing the meal as "delicious" and "fun." Additionally, they highlighted the proprietor as a valuable source of information about the area, suggesting that local insights and recommendations are readily available. This adds a personal touch to the stay and can enhance the overall experience by providing local context and tips for exploration.
The overall sentiment from the reviews is overwhelmingly positive, with one guest describing their stay as "definitely an A-one vacation stay." This strong endorsement suggests that Meeman-Shelby Forest Cabins provide a high-quality experience that meets and exceeds expectations. The beauty of the area is also consistently mentioned, reinforcing the appeal of the natural environment as a key feature of this destination.
It is important to note that, as with any natural area, conditions can sometimes be affected by weather events. One reviewer mentioned that some of the trails and part of the disc golf course were inaccessible due to downed trees from storm damage. This highlights the fact that while the area is beautiful, visitors should be prepared for the possibility of temporary disruptions to certain amenities or access points due to natural causes. It might be advisable to inquire about the current conditions of trails and recreational facilities when making a reservation or before arrival, especially after significant weather events.
Promotional aspects of Meeman-Shelby Forest Cabins can be derived from the positive reviews and the inherent appeal of the location. The spacious and well-equipped cabins, combined with the beautiful natural setting of Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, make this an attractive option for families, couples, and individuals looking for a local outdoor getaway. Meeman-Shelby Forest Cabins Reviews
Loved this place. Nice spacious cabins. We were 2 couples sharing cabin 4. Didn't know what to expect so I brought my own bedding...Definitely not needed. Beds were so nice and clean. Nicely equipped kitchen. Outdoor campfire place and grill.Went up to the General Store for a meal. That was both delicious and fun. If the proprietor has time to talk she is a wealth of fun information of the area.Definitely an A-one vacation stay.
May 01, 2023 · Wendy FivashStayed at one of the pet friendly cabins. Overall, it was a very good experience. The beds are very firm, so be prepared. Area is beautiful. Some of the trails and part of the disc golf course were unnaccessable due to downed trees from storm damage.
Aug 01, 2023 · Jennifer RogersWe have been using the cabins here for a couple years, and have had a wonderful experience. The cabin #1 just got new comfortable furnature a huge upgrade from the past. Christmas '22 was Absolutely miserable. The cold came through the non insulated walls and had Frozen hot water pipes so no shower was warming you up in the morning. We couldn't stay there way too cold but the park refund the fee so we really cannot say anything bad. Just hoping for moderate weather in the future.
Dec 28, 2022 · Ted HoristAbsolutely loved staying here. I live in Memphis and this is a hidden treasure. It is so quiet. The cabins are very nice and spacious. I stayed with my parents in one of the pet friendly cabins so they could bring the dog. There isn't much cell signal but you get enough to make phone calls. I loved being unplugged from internet to avoid emails and all. The cabin has the basics to be able to cook. They provide linens and towels. There is a outdoor grill if you bring charcoal and they have a fire pit. Firewood is provided in the winter months!! Would definitely recommend!!
Nov 11, 2020 · Elizabeth GibsonGreat place to go for a few days & relax especially if u want to take your furkids along with you. But make sure to make reservations because ONLY 2 of the cabins are pet friendly. We all love it here. Having a awesome time
