Located at 45 South 100 West, Woodruff, UT 84086, USA, and reachable by phone at (385) 273-1100 or mobile at +1 385-273-1100, this campground appears to be a well-maintained and peaceful destination, according to visitor feedback. This introduction aims to provide local users with detailed information regarding the environment, services, features, and any implicit considerations based on the available reviews to help plan their next camping trip.
The Awesome Scenery and Environment of Monte Cristo Campground
Monte Cristo Campground is situated in the vicinity of Woodruff, Utah, an area known for its natural beauty. Reviewers consistently praise the "awesome scenery" and "beautiful views" surrounding the campground, suggesting a picturesque setting that allows campers to immerse themselves in nature. While specific details about the immediate environment (such as the types of trees, nearby water bodies, or terrain) are not extensively described, the positive comments indicate a visually appealing landscape. The peaceful and not too crowded atmosphere further enhances the environmental appeal, offering a serene escape from more bustling locations. The mention of cold evenings, even in August, suggests a higher elevation or a climate where temperatures can drop significantly after sunset. This highlights the importance of being prepared for varying weather conditions, even during the summer months. The overall impression from the reviews is that Monte Cristo Campground provides a beautiful and tranquil natural environment, ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat.
Clean and Well-Maintained Services with Friendly Staff
One of the standout aspects of Monte Cristo Campground, according to visitor feedback, is its cleanliness and maintenance. Reviewers specifically mention that the "campgrounds were very clean and very well-maintained," indicating a commitment to providing a pleasant and comfortable environment for campers. The staff is also highlighted for their positive attributes, described as "very kind and helpful." One reviewer specifically noted the "great" camp host, suggesting a welcoming and supportive on-site presence. The process for payment appears to be straightforward, with a camp attendant driving by periodically to check on new campers and collect fees. The cost of camping is described as "very inexpensive and hassle-free," making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers. It is important to note, however, that "only cash is accepted," so visitors need to plan accordingly and ensure they have sufficient cash before arriving, potentially needing to visit an ATM beforehand. The hourly rounds by the camp attendant also suggest a level of monitoring and care for the campground and its visitors.
Features and Considerations for Your Stay
Monte Cristo Campground offers a peaceful and relatively uncrowded camping experience, which is a significant feature for those seeking tranquility. The affordability of camping is another notable feature, making it accessible for various budgets. The presence of a helpful and friendly staff, including a great camp host, can enhance the overall camping experience by providing assistance and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. However, the reviews also point out some important considerations. The narrow roads within the campground, coupled with low-hanging trees, stumps on the edge of the road, and large rocks, can make navigating and backing into campsites challenging, particularly for larger vehicles like RVs. One reviewer experienced damage to their vehicle due to these obstacles, including a "4ft stump in our site driveway." While individual sites may be long enough once accessed, the difficulty in maneuvering to reach them is a significant factor to be aware of. The cold evenings, even in summer, necessitate bringing warm clothing and layers to ensure comfort during the night and early morning. The cash-only payment policy requires prior planning to avoid inconvenience upon arrival. While the scenery is praised, specific amenities like restrooms, showers, or water hookups are not mentioned, suggesting that campers should be prepared for a more basic camping experience. The mention of an "overnight car camp trip" or a stay of "maybe even a couple nights or so" might implicitly suggest that the campground is well-suited for shorter stays, although longer stays are certainly possible given the positive overall experience.
No Explicit Promotional Information
The provided information, consisting of the campground's contact details, address, and customer reviews, does not contain any explicit promotional information such as discounts, special offers, or seasonal packages. However, the "inexpensive" nightly rate mentioned by a reviewer could be considered an ongoing attractive feature for budget-conscious campers. To inquire about any potential promotions or special rates, local users are encouraged to contact Monte Cristo Campground directly via the provided phone numbers: (385) 273-1100 or +1 385-273-1100. For local residents in and around Woodruff, Utah, Monte Cristo Campground presents an appealing option for those searching for "camping near me" that is both peaceful and affordable. The consistently positive feedback regarding the scenery, cleanliness, maintenance, and friendly staff suggests a well-run and enjoyable camping destination. The challenges posed by the narrow roads and obstacles within the campground, particularly for larger vehicles, are important considerations for potential visitors. Additionally, being prepared for cold evenings and the cash-only payment policy are crucial for a smooth experience. Despite these considerations, the overall positive sentiment from reviewers, especially regarding the tranquility and affordability, makes Monte Cristo Campground a worthwhile option for individuals, couples, and families looking for a scenic and budget-friendly camping getaway in the Woodruff area.
In conclusion, Monte Cristo Campground near Woodruff, Utah, offers awesome scenery, clean and well-maintained facilities, and friendly service at an inexpensive price. However, potential visitors should be aware of the narrow roads and potential obstacles when navigating the campground, the need to dress warmly for cold evenings, and the cash-only payment policy. Monte Cristo Campground Reviews
Camp host was great, the scenery was awesome, our site once we were able to get in was gorgeous. The reason for 3 stars is how narrow the roads were with low hanging trees, stumps on the edge of the road as well as very large rocks. It made backing into our spot extremely difficult. We ended up scratching the crap out of the brand new bumper on the truck on a random stump on the side of a narrow road. There was a 4ft stump in our site driveway that made it even more difficult to back in. The site was long enough once you could get in. They could easily fix the problem on this particular site.
Sep 12, 2024 · Don SlickThis is a great place to go for an overnight car camp trip, or stay for maybe even a couple nights or so. The campgrounds were very clean, and very well-maintained, and the staff was very kind and helpful as well. The price to camp per night was very inexpensive and hassle-free. The camp attendant drives by every hour or so to check on new campers, and collect the payment. I think we paid around $40 for two nights. Only cash is accepted so go to an ATM before you leave. We had a really fun time, it was so peaceful, not too packed or overcrowded, and the views were really beautiful. Surprisingly, even though we went in August, it was still very cold from about 8 p.m. through 6 a.m. Definitely dress warm for the evenings, and bring some layers.
Aug 27, 2017 · Zach SmithFound out there was no water after we got there. Luckily, we were in a trailer with our own water supply. Beautiful green and healthy forest. Big pines and quakies. The sites are spaced apart, so you don't feel like you're camping on top of each other. The roads are narrow, and some of the turns are difficult for larger trailers. But the scenery made up for a lot.
Jul 20, 2023 · Ruth JacobsonWe love camping here! This campground is so pretty. Lot's of big trees and wild flowers. Depending on the loop you stay in there's flush toilets or pit toilets. The loop with the group campsites has flush. The picnic tables here are on cement which is such a nice touch. I don't know what it is about it, but I'm just really impressed by that. The driveways for the campsites are mostly very tiny here though. If you plan on bringing a trailer you need to get there early, especially if you're staying for the weekend! All the sites are walk up as in non reservable (except the group ones), but they are always completely filled on the weekend. ALWAYS. You've got to get there pretty early on a friday to secure a weekend spot. It's a great place to take milky way shots, no light pollution for miles! Also this campground doesn't open on memorial day like most others do, so make sure you check ahead of going all the way up there. We learned that the hard way.
Sep 17, 2018 · StormieI have been camping up at Monte Cristo for over twenty years! It is a beautiful area to camp and enjoy cooler temperatures! There are also flush toilets which is an added bonus. To my dismay and disappointment the last two years have been terrible. There has been NO water available at this campground! This has caused the flushable toilets to shut down and if you are not able to bring enough water to last you and your family for the days you are camping you have to drive down to Hunstville or Woodruff to get more!I have called both the management company Go Camp Utah/Utah Recreation Company and the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Service department and neither can give any answers as to WHY it has taken THREE years to fix the water problem. They point the finger at each other and give excuses as to why it’s not fixed.Utah Recreation Co has placed porta potties on site and only have them changed out weekly. They are disgusting and there are not enough of them placed to serve the amount of people camping there.Shame on both the Forest Service and Utah Rec for not fixing this problem in a timely manner. We are now in our third year without this being fixed!I am going to contact Matt Gephardt next to try and get to the bottom of who is responsible for this!
