Located at Causey Dr, Huntsville, UT 84317, USA, Weber Memorial Park is easily accessible and offers a truly immersive nature escape.
The park is strategically positioned adjacent to the picturesque Causey Reservoir and the South Fork Ogden River, providing a stunning natural backdrop for your camping adventure. This unique setting means endless possibilities for water-based activities, making it a prime spot for anglers, swimmers, and even those seeking the thrill of cliff diving in the reservoir's steep, forested slot canyons. The river also offers a charming stretch for activities like tubing, as fondly recalled by long-time visitors.
Weber Memorial Park truly excels in its natural environment. It encompasses 86 acres of diverse terrain, offering a blend of open spaces and wooded areas. While some sections towards the top could benefit from more shade trees, as noted by visitors, the overall aesthetic is one of natural beauty and tranquility. Many campsites are situated directly along the South Fork Ogden River, providing peaceful riverside experiences and the soothing sounds of flowing water. The presence of mature trees in many areas offers natural shade, and the overall maintenance of the campground is consistently praised, indicating a commitment to preserving its pristine condition. The park's proximity to Causey Reservoir means campers have immediate access to a large body of water for various recreational pursuits, surrounded by the stunning mountainous landscape of the Huntsville area. The reservoir itself is known for its clear, vibrant blue or turquoise green waters, depending on the sunlight, and is encased by steep, lush canyon walls, creating a truly picturesque backdrop for outdoor activities.
Weber Memorial Park is well-equipped to cater to a variety of camping needs, ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay. The park features 58 individual campsites, designed for both primitive tent camping and small RVs. For larger gatherings, there are four spacious group areas that can accommodate between 200 and 300 people, making it an excellent choice for family reunions, church groups, or corporate retreats. These large group areas are equipped with electricity, a significant convenience for group events.
Standard amenities available at most sites include fire pits and picnic tables, perfect for outdoor meals and campfire stories. For basic necessities, the park provides flushing toilets and drinking water, enhancing the comfort of your camping experience. While individual sites generally do not have hookups, the group areas offer partial electrical hookups. The campsites are primarily situated in an open setting with dirt roads and parking pads, and many individual sites feature concrete patios, adding a touch of convenience. Trash facilities are also available for the convenience of campers. A key service feature of Weber Memorial Park is the presence of dedicated camp hosts on-site. These hosts are known for being friendly and helpful, readily available to assist campers with questions or any needs that may arise during their stay. This on-site support contributes significantly to the positive atmosphere and well-maintained nature of the campground. The park is also pet-friendly, allowing visitors to bring their furry companions along for the adventure, though it is always advisable to call ahead for any specific pet restrictions. Handicap facilities are also available, ensuring accessibility for all visitors.
The features of Weber Memorial Park extend beyond just camping. The park offers a wealth of activities that cater to different interests, solidifying its reputation as an outdoor recreation haven. The immediate access to Causey Reservoir and the South Fork Ogden River opens up a world of water-based fun. Popular activities include fishing in both the reservoir and the river. Causey Reservoir is a known spot for species like Kokanee Salmon, rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout. It's also one of the few places in Utah where spearfishing is allowed, though visitors should always verify current Utah Fishing regulations from the Division of Wildlife Resources. Swimming is a popular pastime in the reservoir, and for the more adventurous, cliff diving into the clear waters of Causey Reservoir offers an exhilarating experience, with jumps up to 65 feet. However, it is crucial to exercise extreme caution and be aware of potential hazards such as changing water depths and submerged objects. Life jackets are highly recommended, and in some cases, legally required for water activities on Causey Reservoir. Motorized boats are not allowed on Causey Reservoir, making it perfect for non-motorized activities such as kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding. Visitors often bring inner tubes to enjoy floating down the gentle stretch of river between the bridges, a nostalgic activity for many returning guests.
On land, the park provides facilities for various sports and games. Volleyball poles and horseshoe pits are available, particularly at the large group areas, encouraging friendly competition and communal fun. The expansive 86 acres also offer plenty of room for exploring the woods, playing outdoor games, or simply enjoying peaceful walks in nature. The park's setting provides opportunities for bird and wildlife watching, with sightings of osprey, turkey vultures, and various ducks adding to the natural experience. Nearby trails, such as the Skull Crack Trailhead, can be accessed for hiking and biking, providing scenic views, especially during the fall when salmon are spawning in the river, creating a vibrant natural spectacle.
A notable feature of Weber Memorial Park is its recently renovated historic lodge. This versatile venue is an exceptional space for various events, including weddings, large family reunions, and corporate retreats. Its availability adds another layer of functionality and appeal to the park, allowing for celebrations and gatherings in a beautiful natural setting, complete with power and five riverside sites included in the lodge rental.
Weber Memorial Park is operated by Weber County Parks and Recreation, ensuring a well-managed and maintained facility. For booking and inquiries, the primary contact number is (801) 399-8230. It is important to note that individual campsites at Weber Memorial Park are typically available on a first-come, first-served basis, while reservations are generally required for the large group sites and the lodge. This first-come, first-served policy for individual sites means early arrival is often recommended, especially during peak seasons, to secure a preferred spot. The park usually opens around the first weekend of May and generally closes in early October, weather permitting, offering ample time for summer and fall camping. It is advisable to call the park for specific closure information, particularly towards the end of the season or during unpredictable weather.
Real customer reviews consistently highlight the positive aspects of the park. Visitors frequently praise the friendly and helpful campground hosts, who contribute significantly to a pleasant experience. The diligent upkeep of the campground is also a recurring point of appreciation, with many noting how well-maintained the facilities are, including clean restrooms. The beauty of the natural surroundings, particularly the river and ample space, often leaves a lasting impression, fostering fond memories and encouraging repeat visits. Many visitors recall childhood memories of tubing, exploring, and playing at the park, eager to share these experiences with their own children. While some feedback suggests a desire for more shade in certain areas, particularly towards the top, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, emphasizing the park's suitability for creating cherished family and group memories in a serene outdoor setting.
Weber Memorial Park offers a reasonably priced camping experience, making it an accessible option for many. Individual campsites are typically priced at $30 per night, accommodating up to 8 people, two cars, and either one RV unit and one tent or two tents with two vehicles. Weber Memorial Park Reviews
Great as always! Campground hosts very friendly and helpful. Campground kept up very well. Could use a few more trees for shade towards the top, although still very nice place for camping!
Jun 13, 2024 · Kendra “Kinda Kendra” PierceWe used to come here as a church group each year as a kid. I have fond memories of tubing the small stretch of river between bridges, exploring the woods, and playing Pooh Sticks with friends and family. It was great to be able to share that with my own kids. I hope to do it more. Camp hosts were friendly and helpful and there was plenty of room for everyone. Beautiful.
Jul 22, 2023 · BJ RedfordNice. Clean. Camp manager was very nice. Guests were a bit rude, they keept huge dogs out of leash, but camp hosts resolved situation. clean restrooms. Place to fish. there is lake near, and it is mainly used for the kayaking and fishing... No signal.... It was great escape from all the digital fuss....
