Mountain Empire Campgrounds Introduce
For those in search of "Camping Near Me" in the Campo, California area, Mountain Empire Campgrounds, located at 29146 CA-94, Campo, CA 91906, USA, presents itself as a campground with a unique community atmosphere and a picturesque natural setting. You can reach them by phone at (619) 478-5207 or their mobile number, +1 619-478-5207, for inquiries about availability and rates. As you explore your options within the "Camping Near Me" category, understanding the environment, services, and community dynamics of each location is crucial for a fulfilling experience.
Mountain Empire Campgrounds has garnered attention for its strong sense of community, as highlighted by one reviewer who awarded it 5 stars due to the "good neighbors and the small village mentality." This sense of community is further described as one where "when someone is down everybody pitches in to help 'em out," indicating a supportive and close-knit environment. For individuals seeking a campground that offers more than just a place to park their RV or pitch a tent, the social fabric of Mountain Empire Campgrounds, as portrayed by this reviewer, could be a significant draw.
**Environment:** The natural environment surrounding Mountain Empire Campgrounds also appears to be a significant positive aspect. Another reviewer, who moved their Airstream trailer there, described the transformation of a "former tiny creek" into a "rushing river," suggesting the presence of dynamic water features, especially during rainy periods. The beauty of the natural surroundings is further emphasized by the mention of "beautiful" trees and the blooming of "yellow Iris'" near their trailer home. This paints a picture of a campground nestled in a scenic location where residents can enjoy the natural flora and possibly the sounds of flowing water. Campo, California, is known for its rural setting in the Mountain Empire region of San Diego County, characterized by rolling hills and natural landscapes, which likely contribute to the campground's appealing environment.
**Services and Features:** While specific details about the services and features of Mountain Empire Campgrounds are somewhat limited, we can infer some common offerings of campgrounds and glean insights from the reviews:
- **RV and Trailer Sites:** The mention of an Airstream trailer being moved in indicates that the campground accommodates RVs and trailers, likely offering sites with necessary hookups (electricity, water, and possibly sewage).
- **Natural Water Features:** The presence of a creek that can become a rushing river suggests potential for enjoying natural water, although the reviews do not specify if there is direct access for recreational activities.
- **Natural Beauty:** The beautiful trees and blooming flowers point to a setting where the natural landscape is valued and appreciated by residents.
- **Community Atmosphere:** The strong emphasis on good neighbors and a village mentality suggests a social environment where residents interact and support each other.
However, a more recent update from the same reviewer who initially praised the environment and people introduces significant concerns regarding the management and overall living experience since March 2023. This update details a troubling incident where the manager allegedly threatened the reviewer with eviction, leading to the filing of a Restraining Order (RO). The reviewer states that the manager is still present and "angry as ever," raising serious concerns about the safety and well-being of residents.
Furthermore, the updated review mentions bullying by a female resident who is reportedly friendly with the manager. This bullying has allegedly led to slander and social shunning of the reviewer by other residents. Additionally, the upkeep of the reviewer's yard has reportedly declined, with tall weeds causing concern about snakes posing a threat to the reviewer and their small dog. These are serious issues that potential residents must consider.
The reviewer's concluding statement, "If it weren't for the low rent and beautiful park, I'd leave," highlights a significant dilemma: the attractive natural environment and affordability are weighed against serious interpersonal and management issues. This suggests that while the campground might offer visual appeal and a lower cost of living compared to other options in the "Camping Near Me" category, the social and managerial aspects could be problematic.
**Promotional Information:** Based on the initial positive review, potential promotional points could have included the strong sense of community and the beautiful natural surroundings. However, the subsequent negative update significantly tempers this initial positive image. Any objective introduction must acknowledge both aspects of the feedback.
For local users searching for "Camping Near Me" and considering Mountain Empire Campgrounds, it is crucial to be aware of the conflicting reports. While the environment and the sense of community (at least initially perceived by one reviewer) might be appealing, the serious allegations of management misconduct and resident bullying cannot be ignored. The low rent, mentioned as a reason for staying despite the negative experiences, might be a factor for some individuals, but it should be balanced against potential risks to personal safety and well-being.
Prospective residents should consider the following before making a decision:
- **Inquire about the current management and their policies on conflict resolution and tenant relations.** It would be prudent to ask directly about the incident described in the review and how such issues are addressed.
- **Seek recent feedback from multiple current residents** to get a broader understanding of the current living conditions and management style.
- **Assess the safety and security measures** in place within the campground, especially in light of the reported threats and bullying.
- **Evaluate the upkeep of the grounds and individual sites.** The reviewer's concern about overgrown weeds and potential snake hazards should be addressed with the management.
- **Understand all the rules and regulations** of the campground, including lease terms and eviction policies.
- **Visit the campground in person** to observe the environment and the interactions between residents and management, if possible.
In conclusion, Mountain Empire Campgrounds near Campo, CA, offers a setting with natural beauty and, at least historically, a strong sense of community. However, recent feedback raises serious concerns about management practices and interpersonal issues within the campground. For those searching for "Camping Near Me" and considering this location, a thorough investigation into the current conditions and management is strongly advised to weigh the potential benefits of the environment and low rent against the reported negative experiences.

Mountain Empire Campgrounds Reviews
I give it 5 stars due to the good neighbors and the small village mentality, where when someone is down everybody pitches in to help 'em out. Good people to live near.
Dec 08, 2023 · Darryl WinchelI just moved my Airstream trailer home here just in time for our many rainy days. The former tiny creek in the campgrounds has been transformed into a rushing river. Trees are beautiful and yellow Iris' just bloomed outside my trailer home. Ppl are nice too. :)Update:Since moving here in March, 2023 some things have changed, not good change.A month after moving in I was terrorized bc the mgr came to my space - swinging a can in my facethreatening me with eviction. Filled an RO - he's still here and angry as ever. Also a resident female here is bullying me (pals with mgr). She slandered name & so other ppl here are shunning me. My yard hasn't been weedwacked like when I first moved in, I'm scared that snakes will bite me or my little dog in the thick, tall weeds. If it weren't for the low rent and beautiful park, I'd leave.
May 02, 2024 · Tweedle Dumnice and quiet, people are friendly and good neighbors. I haven't had any problems and I've lived here 3 years. Large flock of turkeys wake up and come around on a daily walk with their baby chicks. No snakes.
