Looking for a "camping near me" experience that caters to the whole family, offering a blend of recreational activities and comfortable accommodations? Mountain Lake Camping Resort, located at 485 Prospect St #3, Lancaster, NH 03584, presents itself as a potential destination. You can reach them at (603) 788-4509 or +1 603-788-4509 for inquiries and reservations.
According to one enthusiastic guest, Mountain Lake Camping Resort proved to be "the perfect place for a family gathering." This reviewer highlighted the availability of separate spaces for different families within their group while still providing ample opportunities for togetherness, particularly around the "clean, warm pool." The pool appears to be a significant attraction, especially for children, with mentions of water slides that were a hit with kids aged 5 to 7 and twins aged 7. The lake also provided another water-based activity for the children to enjoy.
The accommodations at Mountain Lake Camping Resort include cabins that are described as "clean and as described on the website." This suggests a level of transparency and reliability in the lodging options, allowing guests to have a clear expectation of what to expect upon arrival. For families looking for more comfort than traditional tent camping, the cabins offer a convenient and well-maintained alternative.
Beyond the resort itself, its location offers proximity to other family-friendly attractions. Santa's Village, a popular theme park, is reportedly just a 15-minute drive away, making Mountain Lake Camping Resort a convenient base for those planning a visit to this regional highlight.
Practical amenities at the campground include clean showers and bathrooms, as well as laundry facilities. These are important conveniences for families and those planning longer stays, ensuring a more comfortable and hassle-free experience.
Perhaps one of the most consistently praised aspects of Mountain Lake Camping Resort is its staff. One reviewer described the staff as "so helpful and attentive," noting their quick response to any problems and how their leadership fosters a "family friendly, secure-feeling campground." This emphasis on positive and helpful staff can significantly enhance the overall guest experience, creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
However, it's essential to consider all feedback to gain a balanced understanding of what Mountain Lake Camping Resort offers. Another reviewer expressed disappointment, stating that despite high expectations based on positive reviews, their experience was a "one and done."
This reviewer did acknowledge some positive aspects, such as the water slides being a "hit" with their 8-year-old and the presence of a "nice playground." These features further highlight the resort's appeal to families with young children.
On the other hand, this reviewer raised several concerns. One significant issue was the campground's proximity to a busy road, resulting in "constant traffic" noise at their campsite. This detracted from the peaceful "retreat in the woods" atmosphere they were hoping for, suggesting that some campsites might be more affected by road noise than others. This is an important consideration for those particularly sensitive to noise and seeking a tranquil natural environment.
Another point of criticism was the perceived lack of organized activities for children. The reviewer mentioned expecting daily fun such as bingo or crafts, typical of a "camping resort." However, they found that activities were primarily scheduled for Saturdays, and a Sunday craft had a per-child cost that was not communicated in advance. This suggests that the level of organized activities might not meet the expectations of all families looking for structured entertainment for their children.
The reviewer also expressed reservations about the lake, describing it as possibly being more of a pond and noting that their children found the water to feel "murky." Their experience swimming in other lakes led them to this observation. Additionally, they found the fishing dock to be "crowded" with no one appearing to have any luck catching fish during their trip. These points might be important for those specifically seeking lake-based recreational activities like swimming and fishing.
Despite these criticisms, the second reviewer did acknowledge that "everyone was very friendly and the grounds are well taken care of." This reinforces the positive feedback regarding the staff and the general maintenance of the campground.
For local users considering Mountain Lake Camping Resort for their next "camping near me" getaway, it appears to offer a family-friendly environment with key attractions like a clean pool with water slides and comfortable cabin rentals. Its proximity to Santa's Village is a significant bonus for families with young children. The friendly and attentive staff also contribute to a positive experience for many guests.
However, potential visitors should be aware of the potential for road noise on some campsites due to the campground's location near a busy route. The availability and frequency of organized children's activities might be limited, primarily occurring on Saturdays with potential costs for some activities. Additionally, the lake experience, in terms of swimming and fishing, might not meet everyone's expectations based on one reviewer's observations.
It is recommended that prospective guests inquire about campsite locations in relation to the road if noise is a concern. Families interested in organized activities for children may want to confirm the schedule and any associated costs in advance. Those planning to utilize the lake for swimming and fishing might want to gather more recent information about water quality and fishing conditions.
In conclusion, Mountain Lake Camping Resort offers a range of appealing features for families seeking "camping near me" in the Lancaster, NH area, particularly those valuing a clean pool with water slides, comfortable cabins, and a friendly staff. Its proximity to Santa's Village adds to its appeal as a family vacation destination. However, it's important to consider the potential for road noise, the schedule and cost of children's activities, and the lake conditions based on the varied experiences reported by past guests to make an informed decision.

Mountain Lake Camping Resort Reviews
This was the perfect place for a family gathering for 4 nights. We had our 3 separate spaces but plenty of together time, especially in the clean, warm, pool. The kids-- boys 7 and 5, and twins 7 loved the water slides at the pool as well as being in the lake. The cabins were clean and as described on the website. We had a day at Santa's Village, which is a 15 minute drive away. Another fun place for this age kids. The showers and bathrooms are kept clean. There is a laundry. The best part, though, is the feeling I get being there. The staff is so helpful and attentive. They are quick to address any problems, and their leadership sets the tone for a family friendly, secure-feeling campground. I heard about this place from a friend and highly recommend it.
Jul 12, 2024 · Cynthia KnowlesI wanted to love this campground. From all the positive reviews, I was so excited for my family to enjoy a vacation. However, this was a one and done.ProsThe water slides were a hit with our 8 yr oldNice playgroundConsThis campground is right off the road so that parts can be seen while traveling on a busy route. Our site was close to the route and I could hear constant traffic. Instead of having a relaxing retreat in the woods- I could hear constant noise. It’s quieter in my own backyard! ( just putting it out there for anyone who may be like me and really wants to just hear the sounds of nature )No activities for the kids( As a camping resort I thought there would be some daily fun for the kids, bingo, crafts, etc.) but they have them on Saturdays and the Sunday we were there they had one craft which cost 8 dollars per child- but they didn’t let us know about the cost until we got thereThe lakeI think it’s actually a pond and my kids even stated the water felt “murky” and yes we have swam at plenty of lakesFishingCrowded little dock and nobody seemed to catch anything the whole tripOf course these are just some of our experiences and thoughts. Everyone of course looks for different things in a campground! Everyone was very friendly and the grounds are well taken care of. But like I said for our family, it was one and done!
Jul 23, 2024 · AnnaWe found our "just right" place in Mountain Lake! All of the staff were so friendly and helpful, the pool and playground are first rate, and the setting is so peaceful. A huge perk for us was the ability to put a small tent on a cabin site. This way, the kids could take turns in the tent that they prefer, and Mom could be in the cabin when it was rainy or cold! Our only regret was that our visit was too short - we will be booking a longer stay next time!
Jul 02, 2024 · Lauren Adamek CookNot for bigger group. We were 5 families with parents so our group was like of 25 people. Visited in July 2024. Quiet hours begin at 10:30 and they mean it. They would come twice to check that you are back in your cabin/tent. Lady came & told us that no radio is allowed all the time. Quite surprising. Was telling us about camping etiquettes. If you are booking in a group, be sure to check proximity of your friends cabin/tents. From the map, it doesn't show ups & downs and it was quite far. Too many mosquitoes, bugs so come prepared for that. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean. Good for families who wants to camp alone.
Jul 15, 2024 · Rachana AgrawalOur large family with over 20 of us just stayed for a week. We had at least 7 sites. Some in tents, some in rvs and some in cabins. We can't say enough about how amazing this place is! The whole Campground was immaculate. The cabins were so clean we had 15 year old teenage girls who were even impressed with how clean they were. However, because they have a variety of amenities in the cabins, I would recommend verifying exactly what is included in the cabin you want to book to accommodate your needs. This is a family run Campground that truly love what they do. Every interaction with everyone that works there was very pleasant. We had planned to do alot of site seeing, but ended up staying at the Campground enjoying the pool with the watersides, swimming, pattle boating and kayaking. We did less site seeing than planned because we enjoyed the Campground so much!I have been camping in the White Mountain area in many different Campgrounds for over 18 years and highly recommend this Campground!!
