For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Bardstown, Kentucky area, My Old Kentucky Home Campground, situated at 668 Loretto Rd, Bardstown, KY 40004, USA, presents itself as an option with a history of accommodating campers. With contact numbers (502) 348-3502 and +1 502-348-3502, it offers accessibility for those looking to explore the region.
Recent customer reviews provide a mixed perspective on the current state of My Old Kentucky Home Campground. One long-time visitor, while acknowledging its past appeal, suggests that they have found a "better" alternative for future stays. Their feedback raises concerns regarding the cleanliness of the restroom facilities, specifically mentioning "filthy" conditions with "a lot of mold growing on the bench’s you sit on after showering." The absence of handicap showers is also noted, potentially limiting accessibility for some individuals. Furthermore, this reviewer points out the presence of "hair and mold on and under the mats" in the showers, strongly recommending the use of shower shoes. Despite the campground's claim of clean restrooms, this personal account suggests otherwise upon closer inspection.
In addition to cleanliness issues, the same reviewer expresses dissatisfaction with the noise levels within the campground. They report that "mowers start every day around 7 and at 9:30 still going," describing this as "very annoying and not quiet at all." This early morning and prolonged noise could be disruptive for campers seeking a peaceful and nature-filled experience. The reviewer also notes an increasing level of "noise from the street at night," attributing it to the area's development, which detracts from the quiet ambiance they once associated with the campground.
Contrasting this experience, another reviewer offers a more positive perspective, particularly regarding the campsites themselves, giving them a "4 rating." They concede that "most are not even close to level but all are usable IMHO." This suggests that while the sites might require some adjustment for leveling, they are generally functional for camping. This reviewer highlights their repeated positive experiences, stating, "This was our second time staying here with camping friends and we have never been disappointed." They emphasize the quiet atmosphere and the campground's convenient proximity to the local golf course.
A significant advantage of My Old Kentucky Home Campground, according to this second reviewer, is its strategic location for exploring the renowned "Bourbon trail tours." They note that it is "the perfect location" and believe that "you are not more than a half hour away from all the local distilleries." This makes the campground an attractive base for bourbon enthusiasts looking to tour the numerous distilleries in the Bardstown area. Additionally, the presence of "several nearby wineries" is mentioned as another appealing aspect for visitors interested in exploring the local beverage scene.
Considering these contrasting reviews, local users considering My Old Kentucky Home Campground should weigh the potential benefits of its location and site usability against the reported issues with restroom cleanliness and noise levels. The proximity to the Bourbon Trail and local wineries is a significant feature for those interested in these attractions. The generally quiet atmosphere, aside from the mowing times and increasing street noise, might also appeal to some campers.
However, the concerns raised about the cleanliness of the restrooms, including the presence of mold and hair, and the early morning and prolonged noise from mowing are important factors to consider. Individuals with mobility issues should also take note of the reported lack of handicap showers.
Given the absence of specific information about the campground's amenities, such as the availability of water and electrical hookups at the campsites, the presence of a dump station for RVs, or other facilities like picnic tables or fire pits, it would be prudent for potential visitors to contact My Old Kentucky Home Campground directly for more details. Inquiring about the current condition of the restrooms and the typical hours for grounds maintenance would also be advisable.
Similarly, there is no promotional information provided in the reviews. Therefore, local users interested in staying at My Old Kentucky Home Campground should contact them via phone at (502) 348-3502 or +1 502-348-3502 to inquire about current rates, availability, and any special offers that might be available. It would also be beneficial to ask about any recent improvements or changes made to the facilities based on customer feedback.
In summary, My Old Kentucky Home Campground offers a convenient location for exploring the Bourbon Trail and nearby wineries in Bardstown, Kentucky. While some visitors have appreciated its quiet setting and usable campsites, recent feedback highlights significant concerns regarding the cleanliness of the restroom facilities and disruptive noise from early morning mowing and increasing street traffic. Local users considering this campground should carefully weigh these factors and are strongly encouraged to contact the campground directly for the most up-to-date information on its facilities and conditions before making a reservation.

My Old Kentucky Home Campground Reviews
We have been coming here for years. It was a great place to stay but next year found something better. The restroom are filthy - a lot of mold growing on the bench’s you sit on after showering - no handicap showers - there is hair and mold on and under the mats so wear shower shoes- they say the showers and restrooms are clean-smell clean but if you take a good look they are nasty. My soap fell on the floor outside the shower and it was so nasty I threw it out. Then the mowers start every day around 7 and at 9:30 still going. Very annoying and not quiet at all.The noise from the street at night is getting much louder through out the years - I guess a good sign that the area is building. It use to be a great spot but not anymore if you like quiet and nature seek something else…..
Oct 24, 2024 · Anne LewinMy 4 rating is for the sites. Most are not even close to level but all are usable IMHO. This was our second time staying here with camping friends and we have never been disappointed. It is quiet and close to the golf course if you golf. We have come here twice now for Bourbon trail tours and it is the perfect location. I don't think you are more than a half hour away from all the local distilleries. Several nearby wineries are also good to check out.
May 02, 2024 · B WiggersWe got to the park to find that someone else had parked their rv in our reserved campsite. The park host was not able to move them because they left in their vehicle. We wound up parking in a different site. The park host was very nice and accommodating. The people who parked in our site are still there and were supposed to have left by 2 today. We met another couple with a similar situation. This is a first for us. We booked 2-3 weeks in advance. When you are on the road for 3+ hours, you expect to be able to get into the site booked and get set up with no further issues.
May 04, 2024 · Happy CamperAll the reviews are accurate! This is not the Ritz! The pricing reflects that! It’s all relative! It’s worth the money! Sites are ok Left to Right. Front to back, not so much! My hitch is 4” off the ground and still not where it needs to be, but ok. Had a 36’ 5th wheel come in without reservation and left. If you’re under 25’ these site are for you!
Sep 18, 2024 · lenny warnerThe campsite is small but suited our needs. It is very close to Heaven Hill distillery where we took a tour. The showers are great- hot water and nice water pressure. The campground was quiet which was nice. There were only a few others there.
