Glendale Campground Introduce
If you are searching for "camping near me" in the Elizabethtown, Kentucky area, Glendale Campground, located at 4566 Sportsman Lake Rd, Elizabethtown, KY 42701, USA, is a potential option. They can be reached by phone at (270) 369-7755 or +1 270-369-7755 for inquiries.
Based on recent customer reviews, Glendale Campground is currently undergoing changes under new ownership, which appears to be addressing some previously neglected aspects of the property. One reviewer who was seeking a "camping feel" rather than just concrete slabs in town found the location promising for their first trip. They noted that the new owners have taken over and are in the process of updating the campground. Specifically, they mentioned that the playground could use updating and that some parking spots need leveling. However, they were positive about their initial interactions with the staff, describing them as "very nice and helpful" with their questions. They also found the laundry and bathrooms to be "nice" and expressed anticipation about using the pool in the summer, indicating the presence of these facilities. This reviewer planned to provide updates after future trips, suggesting an evolving situation at the campground.
In contrast, another reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction with their experience, particularly considering the cost of $1000 (it is unclear if this was a weekly or monthly rate). This reviewer felt that the campground was "lacking big time" and seemed like a "money grab" potentially capitalizing on the proximity to the Blue Oval plant. They described the sites as gravel and the roads as rough. More concerningly, they reported "filthy bathrooms" and a "dirty pool that needs serious maintenance." This paints a starkly different picture of the current state of some of the facilities compared to the first review.
Furthermore, the second reviewer raised concerns about the management's communication regarding utility issues, stating that utilities would be shut off without warning for maintenance. They also mentioned a safety concern involving maintenance mowing too close to their camper, resulting in multiple rocks being thrown at it. This reviewer also alleged that a maintenance worker tried to help park their rig while intoxicated, though they thankfully believe this individual has been replaced. While acknowledging the campground's convenience for those working at the Blue Oval plant, this reviewer strongly advised seeking alternative accommodations if possible.
Considering these contrasting reviews, it appears that Glendale Campground is in a state of transition. The new ownership seems to be making efforts to update the facilities, as mentioned by the first reviewer regarding the playground and site leveling. The positive feedback about the staff's helpfulness and the niceness of the laundry and bathrooms suggests that some aspects of the campground are satisfactory. The presence of a pool is also a potential draw for summer campers.
However, the second review highlights significant issues that potential campers should be aware of. The complaints about gravel sites, rough roads, filthy bathrooms, and a dirty pool are serious concerns regarding the environment and services offered. The allegations of poor communication regarding utility outages and unsafe maintenance practices raise further questions about the overall management and upkeep of the campground.
Based on this information, it is difficult to provide a uniformly positive or negative introduction to Glendale Campground. The environment seems to be a more traditional campground setting (as desired by the first reviewer), not just concrete slabs, but the quality and maintenance of the sites and roads appear to be inconsistent, with gravel surfaces and rough conditions reported. The facilities include laundry, bathrooms (with mixed reviews on cleanliness), and a pool (also with concerns about cleanliness and maintenance). A playground is present but reportedly in need of updates.
The services seem to include helpful staff, but there are significant concerns about communication regarding utilities and the professionalism/safety of maintenance practices. There is no specific promotional information available in these reviews, such as discounts or special offers.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in Elizabethtown, Glendale Campground presents a mixed picture. While the new ownership's efforts to update the campground are a positive sign, the current state of some facilities and the reported issues with maintenance and communication are significant drawbacks. The convenience for those working at the Blue Oval plant might be a factor for some, but for others seeking a well-maintained and reliable camping experience, caution is advised.
Potential campers should weigh the positive comments about the staff and the ongoing updates against the serious concerns raised about cleanliness, maintenance, and management practices. It would be prudent to seek more recent reviews or contact the campground directly to inquire about the current status of the updates and to address the specific concerns raised in the available feedback. Visiting the campground in person, if feasible, could also provide a clearer picture of the current environment and facilities.
In conclusion, Glendale Campground near Elizabethtown, Kentucky, is a campground undergoing transition with new ownership. While some aspects, such as the staff and certain facilities like laundry and bathrooms, have received positive feedback, there are significant concerns regarding the condition of the sites, roads, pool, and the overall maintenance and management practices. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider these mixed reviews and seek further information before making a decision to stay at Glendale Campground.

Glendale Campground Reviews
We have been looking for camping near Elizabethtown that has the camping feel not just put on a slab in the middle of town. This seems perfect for our first trip. They say new owners have taken over and it has been neglected. So they are updating (Playground could use updated and spots just need to be evened out, not very even for parking). Staff was very nice and helpful with all my questions. Laundry and bathrooms were nice. Can’t wait to check out the pool this summer. Updates to come from next few trips
Mar 17, 2025 · Rhonda CardotThe girls that run it are nice enough, but for a $1000 this campground is lacking big time. It definitely seems like a money grab for this place with the blue oval plant. Gravel sites and rough roads, filthy bathrooms, and a dirty pool that needs serious maintenance. You also can’t expect a lot of communication if there are issue with utilities. They will just shut them off without warning to address it. Also, don’t expect maintenance to care about your rig when mowing. We had multiple rocks thrown at our camper during our stay from coming too close to the gravel. Maintenance also tried to help park us while intoxicated. Thankfully, I believe they have replaced her. I know it’s convenient if you are at blue oval, but if you can find somewhere else you are probably better off.
Jul 14, 2024 · Morgan McCarthyThis is the best campground I've ever stayed at. We were on the Blue Oval Kentucky job and stayed there 7 months. The office girls are kind and professional. The grounds manager is now one of my dear friends. I didn't have 1 problem the whole time we were there. Highly recommend!
Jun 15, 2024 · Cyndi HolifieldFantastic place and people. We blew up our transmission and stayed there for three days while it got fixed. So when we were leaving they said just pay 20 bucks for electric. We won't charge you because you had bad luck with your truck. What a wonderful thing to have such lovely people in this world.
Apr 20, 2018 · Warren BettsWhat a gem of a campground! Friendly and helpful owners and staff. Great layout, beautiful view of fishing pond and an awesome playground for the kids. Lots of open green space to walk the dogs, throw frisbee or football around and just enjoy. Owners plan outstanding events for campers. One of the quietest campgrounds at night which I very much appreciated. Also, conveniently located to small town charms and big town lights, everything and anything you need or want to do is very close. Easy to find, you will definitely want to mark this gem on your map for multiple stays!
