Namekagon Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the scenic Cable, Wisconsin area? Namekagon Campground, located at Fire Rd 209, Cable, WI 54821, USA, offers a range of camping options within the beautiful Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. You can reach them at (715) 634-4821 or +1 715-634-4821 for inquiries and reservations.
Based on feedback from fellow campers, Namekagon Campground caters to different camping preferences. As one reviewer noted, "The section of the campground to your left when you enter offers slightly more rustic sites well suited for tent campers." This suggests that if you are seeking a more traditional and secluded tent camping experience, these sites might be ideal. They likely offer a greater sense of privacy and immersion in the natural surroundings, which is often desired by tent campers looking to escape the more developed areas.
In contrast, the reviewer also points out that "The remainder of the sites (past the beach) are much more developed and lack the spacing and privacy that you'd find at most other campgrounds on this national forest." This indicates that these sites are likely geared towards RV campers or those who prefer more amenities and less isolation. While they might offer easier access and hookups, they may be closer together and less immersed in the wilderness feel that some campers seek within a national forest setting.
Despite the differing characteristics of the camping areas, Namekagon Campground offers several appreciated amenities. One camper who stayed in August highlighted several positives, including "electric hookups," which are a significant convenience for RVers and those who rely on electronic devices. The presence of "fishing" suggests that the campground is located near a body of water suitable for angling, likely the Namekagon River or a nearby lake. The reviewer also praised the "clean bathrooms," which is a crucial factor for a comfortable camping experience. The availability of "firewood on site" is another convenient feature, saving campers the hassle of sourcing it elsewhere. Furthermore, the provision of "fresh safe water" is essential for any campground and is explicitly mentioned as a positive aspect here.
Beyond the individual campsites, Namekagon Campground offers communal facilities that enhance the camping experience. The presence of a "covered pavilion" provides a sheltered space for gatherings, picnics, or activities, which can be particularly useful during inclement weather or for group events. The mention of a "family camping site" suggests that the campground also caters specifically to families, potentially offering larger sites or locations near family-friendly amenities.
For those concerned about staying connected, one reviewer noted that they "got Verizon in different areas but mostly on the fishing dock." This indicates that while cell service might be somewhat limited or patchy within the campground, Verizon users may find a signal in certain spots, particularly near the fishing area. This can be important for staying in touch, accessing information, or in case of emergencies.
The overall positive experience of the reviewer is evident in their statement: "Definitely will go back to enjoy again." This strong recommendation speaks to the positive aspects of Namekagon Campground, particularly the amenities and the potential for a pleasant camping trip.
In summary, Namekagon Campground near Cable, WI, within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, offers a diverse range of camping experiences to suit different needs. Tent campers seeking a more rustic and private setting might prefer the sites to the left upon entering. In contrast, those with RVs or who desire more developed amenities like electric hookups might find the sites past the beach more suitable, although they may offer less spacing. Regardless of the chosen area, campers can benefit from amenities such as clean bathrooms, firewood available on site, and fresh safe water. The campground also features a covered pavilion and a designated family camping site. Fishing opportunities are likely a significant draw, given the campground's name and the reviewer's comment. While cell service may be limited, Verizon users might find connectivity in certain locations. For local users looking for "camping near me" that offers a blend of natural beauty and essential amenities within a national forest setting, Namekagon Campground appears to be a worthwhile option to consider.

Dec 26, 2022 · Greg KruegerWe stayed here in august. What we loved was the electric hookups, fishing, clean bathrooms, firewood on site, and fresh safe water. We didn't use the covered pavilion but it was nice, also they had a family camping site. We got Verizon in different areas but mostly on the fishing dock. Definitely will go back to enjoy again.
Dec 15, 2022 · Kathy BaileyWe LOVE this campground. What a surprise to have electricIty at all sites. Sites are mostly flat especially close to lake. Enough space between for privacy. (30ft. tt) Vault toilets are immaculate. Water well with spigots nearby. BEAUTIFUL views from our site looking out on the lake. Deer spotted along roadsides. Very limited Verizon . . . when the wind blows near the lake or in parking lot can pick up 4G one bar going in and out. Thirteen miles to Cable you can find good 4G.
Aug 26, 2020 · Carolyn LeCroyOnly 3 star as the boat landing pier could be stabilized better to make it more handicap accessible. I did not feel safe walking on it.It is a beautiful park and it is very well maintained.
Jun 28, 2023 · lonnette sVery nice campground, will definitely stay here again. Can get busy during holiday weekends so book several months in advance! The beach and boat launch is super nice, although a bit small. Bathrooms were very clean. Lots of families with RVs come here if that matters to you
