Cable Town Campground Introduce
For local users searching within the "camping near me" category, Cable Town Campground, located at 12955 Cable Sunset Rd in Cable, Wisconsin, presents a camping option with a notable first-come-first-serve policy. This characteristic can be appealing for spontaneous campers who prefer not to make reservations. The campground can be reached by phone at (715) 798-4440 or via mobile at +1 715-798-4440.
Environment: Based on the limited information available from user reviews, the immediate environment of the campsites at Cable Town Campground includes the presence of "a lot of dead trees." This observation suggests that while the area is likely wooded, there may be a need for maintenance regarding the removal of these dead trees for safety and aesthetics. Additionally, the campground's proximity to a playground is mentioned, indicating that campers might experience some level of noise associated with playground activities during the day. While one reviewer notes that this might be noisy, they also state that it is "not a deal breaker" in itself.
Services and Amenities: The reviews do not provide extensive details about the services and amenities offered at Cable Town Campground. The mention of a first-come-first-serve policy suggests a potentially more basic setup where specific sites are not guaranteed in advance. The presence of a nearby playground indicates at least one amenity catering to families with children, although it's not clear if this playground is directly part of the campground or in an adjacent area. Information regarding typical campground amenities such as restroom facilities, water access, fire rings, or picnic tables is not available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in these specifics would need to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers.
Features and Highlights: The primary feature highlighted in the reviews is the campground's first-come-first-serve policy, which can be advantageous for campers who prefer flexibility in their travel plans and do not want to commit to a reservation. The proximity to a playground could be seen as a benefit for families with young children, providing a convenient recreational area. However, the noise associated with a playground might be a drawback for those seeking a quieter camping experience. A significant point raised in both reviews is the issue of floodlights being turned on at night. One reviewer mentions the lights being aimed at the campsites from 10 pm to midnight, while another states the spotlight comes on between 9:30 pm and 12 am. Both describe these lights as "incredibly bright" and a major disruption to sleep and the overall relaxing nature of the site. This nighttime lighting issue appears to be a significant negative aspect reported by multiple visitors.
Promotional Information and Local Appeal: For local users searching for "camping near me" with a flexible, no-reservation-needed option, Cable Town Campground's first-come-first-serve policy might initially seem appealing. The presence of a nearby playground could also be a draw for families with children looking for a convenient place for kids to play. However, the strong concerns raised in the reviews regarding the nighttime floodlights are crucial for potential visitors to consider. The bright lights aimed at the campsites for a significant period in the late evening and early night are described as disruptive to sleep and detrimental to the relaxing atmosphere typically sought during camping trips. One reviewer explicitly states, "I would not recommend it unless it is your last resort, those lights are no joke," and another echoes this sentiment, noting that the spotlight "ruins the otherwise relaxing nature of this site." These strong negative experiences regarding the lighting suggest that local campers prioritizing a peaceful night's sleep and an immersive natural experience might want to exercise caution or seek further clarification from the campground management regarding this issue before choosing to stay at Cable Town Campground. While the convenience of a first-come-first-serve policy and the proximity to a playground might be attractive to some, the reported problem with intrusive nighttime lighting appears to be a significant deterrent for others.
In conclusion, Cable Town Campground near Cable, WI, offers a first-come-first-serve camping option that might appeal to spontaneous travelers. Its proximity to a playground could be a benefit for families. However, potential local users searching for "camping near me" should be aware of the significant concerns raised by multiple reviewers regarding bright floodlights that are turned on and aimed at the campsites for several hours each night, potentially disrupting sleep and the peaceful camping experience. Additionally, the presence of dead trees on the sites suggests a need for potential maintenance. Campers are advised to consider these factors and perhaps contact the campground directly for more information before making a decision.

Cable Town Campground Reviews
This is a great place to show up with no plans, first come first serve. There are a lot of dead trees by the sites that need to be cleared up.It's next to a playground so it might be noisy but it's not a deal breaker. What is a deal breaker is that they turn on these floodlights aimed at the campsites from 10pm to midnight and make it really hard to sleep.I would not recommend it unless it is your last resort, those lights are no joke.
Jul 15, 2023 · Armando de la TorreFor some reason the spotlight turns on between 9:30 pm and 12am. It's incredibly bright and ruins the otherwise relaxing nature of this site.
Jul 15, 2023 · Brent MazurekWould not recommend for a peaceful rest. Nice set up, but not quiet. We were hoping to get a good sleep before a race but there were people on the playground late being obnoxious/loud vehicles and a band playing downtown until midnight (October days I guess). 😳😳 We would have left but it was raining (and dark). We should have went to the national forest - it would have been quiet and free.
Oct 01, 2022 · Nicole SandefurPickleball is growing in popularity in the area. The Cable Town Park has two tennis/pickleball courts. You can use the courts anytime you wish. A local group meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:30 AM, and welcomes anyone who wants to play. There's another group that meets Mondays at 5:30 PM. Anyone is welcome to join in and free loaner equipment is available, so that you can try it out. Just another reason to visit the Park!
Aug 19, 2019 · Kathy ZuelsdorffA brand new small, quiet campground with five walk-in tent sites. Part of the Cable Town Park. Close walking distance to restaurants, groceries, laundromat and hardware. Perfect for families, touring cyclists, and visitors in general.
