Situated along the Upper North Fork Siuslaw River, the campground offers direct access to the waterway, enhancing the camping experience with the soothing sounds of flowing water and opportunities for riverside activities. The presence of a small creek, which is actually the North Fork Siuslaw River itself, teeming with wild rainbow trout, highlights the natural richness of the area and its appeal to anglers. The campground is described as "lovely" and "peaceful," suggesting a setting that allows for a quiet retreat into nature. The campsites are noted to be well-spaced out, providing campers with a sense of privacy and ample room to enjoy their surroundings. The overall environment fosters a sense of being away from the hustle and bustle, allowing for a genuine connection with the natural landscape of the Oregon coast range.
In terms of services, North Fork Siuslaw Campground is described as a "basic campground." This typically implies that while it may not offer extensive amenities, it provides the essentials for a comfortable and rustic camping experience. According to one review, the campground offers picnic tables and fire pits at the campsites, which are fundamental for enjoying outdoor meals and campfires. A vault toilet is also mentioned as the restroom facility, indicating a more primitive but functional amenity. The reviewer also noted that the bathroom was clean, which is a significant aspect of maintaining a pleasant camping environment. While details on other potential services like potable water, trash disposal, or specific RV hookups are not provided in the reviews, the focus on basic amenities suggests a more traditional and nature-oriented camping experience rather than a full-service RV resort.
The features of North Fork Siuslaw Campground are centered around its natural setting and access to the river. The plentiful wild rainbow trout in the North Fork Siuslaw River are a significant draw for fishing enthusiasts, as highlighted by a camper who caught three trout in under ten minutes. This accessibility to quality fishing directly from the campground is a notable feature. The level and well-spaced campsites contribute to a comfortable stay, accommodating different types of camping setups, including converted vans and tents. The quiet atmosphere of the campground, especially at night, ensures a peaceful sleeping environment. The friendly demeanor of other campers, including those who appeared to be long-term residents, adds to the welcoming feel of the campground.
Based on the available information, there is no specific promotional information mentioned for North Fork Siuslaw Campground. As a more basic and potentially publicly managed campground (given the lack of specific ownership details in the reviews), it might not frequently offer special deals or packages. To inquire about camping fees, reservation policies (if any), and any potential discounts for longer stays or during off-peak seasons, it is recommended to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (541) 563-8400 or mobile +1 541-563-8400. The reviews suggest that North Fork Siuslaw Campground might have a smaller number of sites, with one camper estimating around 7 or 8 spots. This smaller size could contribute to the peaceful and less crowded atmosphere. For those traveling in vans or tents and seeking a more intimate camping experience away from larger, more developed campgrounds, this could be a significant advantage. The seemingly established presence of some long-term campers indicates a potentially stable and familiar community within the campground, further contributing to the friendly environment noted by visitors.
Given its "basic" nature, potential campers should be prepared for a more rustic experience and may need to bring their own amenities beyond the picnic tables and fire pits provided. Inquiring about the availability of potable water and any restrictions on campfires or other activities when contacting the campground is advisable. Understanding the campground's policies will help ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay.
In conclusion, for those searching for "camping near me" in the Florence, Oregon area, particularly those who appreciate a lovely, peaceful, and basic campground with river access, North Fork Siuslaw Campground is a highly recommended option. Its beautiful environment along the North Fork Siuslaw River, coupled with level and well-spaced campsites, a clean vault toilet, and the opportunity for excellent trout fishing, makes it a great spot for a night or two, or perhaps even longer for those seeking tranquility. The friendly atmosphere reported by visitors adds to its appeal. To obtain detailed information about fees, reservations, and available amenities, contacting the campground directly at (541) 563-8400 or +1 541-563-8400 is essential for planning your visit to this natural Oregon gem.

North Fork Siuslaw Campground Reviews
Camped here the end of August 2022. I was on a cross country trip in my converted van, think there are 7 or 8 spots there, found a nice spot with plenty of room for the van, and seemingly far enough away from the other 4 sites that were occupied. I can say this, it seemed as if everyone in those 4 sites had been living there for quite some time. Everyone waved and seemed friendly, bathroom was clean and everyone was quiet at night. Also small creek back there (North Fork Siuslaw River) was plentiful of wild rainbow trout, caught 3 in under 10 minutes on my 4 wt. Definitely a great spot for one to two nights!
Jan 02, 2023 · Pat RoellLovely peaceful basic campground with access to the river. Picnic tables and fire pits, vault toilet. Clean.
Aug 19, 2022 · Carla ArklessThe campground is pretty nice. Camp spots could be closer to the river. Lots of late visitors to couple spots. There's still an abandoned motor home occupying one of the best spots. IT'S FREE, and has a vault and campfire tubs.
Jul 25, 2024 · Ted DarcyMust honestly say that this is one of the true gems of the Pacific Northwest. This campground is in the category of dispersed camping. And it's a great spot for creekside activities. Very Serene, spiritual place. This is a Oregon forest service site with a vault toilet, 7 Tent site's approximately 14 miles from Florence Oregon. 14 day stay limit for free, Pack it in, pack it out rules apply. Enjoy...
Jun 02, 2021 · Joe MayesThis is an alright campground, but you get what you pay for. It's nice that it's free, but this means that people can claim a campsite and not leave. There is no trash service, so some people have thrown their trash into the bushes. It is a beautiful area and the river is nice and calm around the campground.
