Oak Creek Estate Introduce
For local residents in and around Hawkeye, Iowa, seeking a unique "camping near me" experience, Oak Creek Estate, located at 25499 U Ave, Hawkeye, IA 52147, USA, offers a tranquil and potentially "off the grid" retreat. With phone numbers (563) 379-7449 and +1 563-379-7449, reaching out to the owners for bookings and information is readily available. Based on the limited but positive customer feedback, this campground provides a clean, creek-side environment with access to trails and a hospitable atmosphere, making it an appealing option for those looking to disconnect and enjoy nature.
The environment of Oak Creek Estate is a significant draw, particularly for those seeking a more secluded and natural camping experience. The campground is situated right by a creek, offering the soothing sounds of flowing water and a picturesque setting. One reviewer specifically mentioned their campsite being right by the creek, enhancing their connection with nature. The description of it being a great place to be “off the grid” in Iowa suggests a more rustic and less developed camping experience, potentially away from the typical amenities and connectivity of more commercial campgrounds. This could be highly appealing to those looking to truly unplug and immerse themselves in a natural setting. The proximity to Decorah, mentioned as "not far," offers a balance by providing access to a larger town and its amenities if needed, while still allowing for a secluded camping experience.
In terms of services, Oak Creek Estate appears to focus on providing a clean and well-maintained basic camping experience. The positive mention of a clean outhouse suggests that while it might be a more primitive facility, it is kept in good condition for guests. The provision of plenty of firewood at the campsite is another valuable service, especially for those planning to enjoy campfires for cooking and warmth. The hospitality of the owners, Tom and Suzane, is also highlighted in the review, indicating a personal and welcoming approach to hosting campers. This can often make a significant difference in the overall camping experience, fostering a sense of community and support.
The features of Oak Creek Estate cater to those who appreciate a more natural and less structured camping environment. The creek-side campsites are a key feature, offering a unique ambiance and potential for water-related enjoyment (though specific activities are not mentioned). The presence of trails suggests opportunities for hiking and exploring the surrounding area, allowing campers to further immerse themselves in the natural landscape. The "off the grid" nature, while implying fewer amenities, can be a significant feature for those seeking a break from technology and the hustle of modern life. The pet-friendly aspect, indicated by a reviewer mentioning camping with their dog, is another important feature for many travelers who wish to bring their furry companions along on their outdoor adventures.
Given the limited number of reviews, detailed information about all services and features is not available. For instance, it is unclear if there are designated RV sites with hookups, or if the campground primarily caters to tent campers seeking a more primitive experience. The extent and difficulty of the trails are also not specified. However, the existing feedback paints a picture of a natural, creek-side camping area with basic but clean facilities and hospitable owners.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. However, smaller, privately owned campgrounds like Oak Creek Estate might offer different rates for weekdays versus weekends, or potentially discounts for longer stays. Given its "off the grid" nature, it might appeal to a specific niche of campers looking for a more rustic experience, and promotions might be tailored to this audience. Local residents might consider contacting Tom and Suzane directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about any special offers for local campers, seasonal rates, or discounts for extended stays, especially if they are looking for a longer break from urban life. It's also possible that they offer group rates or have special pricing for certain times of the year. Engaging directly with the owners is likely the best way to get detailed information about pricing and any current promotions.
In conclusion, Oak Creek Estate near Hawkeye, IA, offers a unique "camping near me" experience for those seeking a tranquil, creek-side escape that feels "off the grid." The clean campsite by the creek, the provision of firewood, the access to trails, and the hospitality of Tom and Suzane are all positive aspects highlighted by a recent visitor. The pet-friendly nature is an additional benefit for many. While detailed information about all amenities is limited, the existing feedback suggests a focus on a more natural and rustic camping experience. For local residents looking to disconnect, enjoy the sounds of a creek, explore nearby trails, and experience the personal touch of hospitable owners, Oak Creek Estate is a compelling option worth exploring further by contacting them directly.

Oak Creek Estate Reviews
My husband, dog and I had a great time camping at Oak Creek Estates over the Labor Day weekend. Our campsite was clean, and right by the creek supplied with plenty of firewood. A great place to be “off the grid” in Iowa, and not far from Decorah. We appreciated the clean outhouse not far from our campsite and the trails. Tom and Suzane were very hospitable and we will definitely come back to camp in the near future.
