Oak Knoll Family Campground Introduce
Looking for a delightful family-oriented camping experience in your local area? Oak Knoll Family Campground, located at 1522 E Fruitvale Rd, Holton, MI 49425, USA, comes highly recommended by recent visitors. For those searching within the 'camping near me' category, this campground offers a blend of natural beauty, spacious campsites, and exceptional customer service, making it a strong contender for your next getaway.
The environment at Oak Knoll Family Campground is frequently praised. One reviewer noted that they prefer campgrounds with a more wooded and rustic feel, and Oak Knoll definitely met this expectation, providing "lots of trees and lots of privacy." This suggests that if you appreciate being surrounded by nature and having a sense of seclusion at your campsite, this campground could be an excellent choice. The spaciousness of the sites is also highlighted, with one camper mentioning that their site was large enough to comfortably accommodate their 30-foot camper, truck, and a shade tent, with plenty of room to spare.
The services and the attitude of the owners seem to be a standout feature of Oak Knoll Family Campground. Multiple reviews commend the owners for their kindness and helpfulness. One particularly positive anecdote recounts how the owners graciously allowed a rebooking after a last-minute cancellation, ensuring the campers didn't lose their deposit – a gesture described as "so kind." Furthermore, the owners reportedly offer assistance with backing in campers upon arrival, a service that the reviewer noted was a first for them among the campgrounds they had visited. This level of personal care and attention suggests a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for all guests.
The location of Oak Knoll Family Campground is also considered a significant advantage. It is conveniently situated for those wanting to explore the surrounding area. For families planning a visit to Lewis Adventure Farm, the campground is just a 20-minute drive away. Additionally, it boasts close proximity to many beautiful Lake Michigan beaches, offering opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the stunning shoreline. A nearby gorgeous county park was also mentioned as a place that visitors enjoyed exploring, indicating access to diverse outdoor recreational activities beyond the campground itself.
However, one review did mention a recent addition to the property – a Verizon cell tower. While acknowledging the inevitability of such infrastructure in today's world, the reviewer noted that the tower is visible from the campsites and Big Blue Lake, which, for some, might detract from a more secluded or "boondock" vibe where cell service is absent. This is a point to consider for those specifically seeking a technology-free natural escape.
Considering the 'camping near me' category, Oak Knoll Family Campground offers a compelling package: lovely wooded campsites providing privacy, exceptionally kind and helpful owners, and a convenient location near popular attractions like Lewis Adventure Farm and the Lake Michigan beaches. While the presence of a visible cell tower might be a minor drawback for some, the overall positive feedback emphasizes a great stay and a desire to return.
Based on the customer reviews, Oak Knoll Family Campground offers:
- A "lovely family campground" atmosphere.
- "Seriously so nice" owners who are accommodating and helpful.
- Assistance with backing in campers.
- A great location near Lewis Adventure Farm (20-min drive) and Lake Michigan beaches.
- A more wooded and rustic feel.
- Campsites with lots of trees and privacy.
- Large sites capable of fitting a 30-foot camper, truck, and shade tent with extra room.
A potential consideration is:
- The visibility of a Verizon cell tower from campsites and Big Blue Lake, which some might find detracts from a natural vibe.
For local users seeking a family-friendly campground with a wooded feel, spacious sites, and easy access to both inland attractions and the Lake Michigan shoreline, Oak Knoll Family Campground appears to be an excellent choice. The positive comments about the owners' hospitality further enhance its appeal. While the cell tower is a visible modern addition, the overall experience seems to be highly positive for those who have stayed there.

Oak Knoll Family Campground Reviews
We had a GREAT stay at this lovely family campground. The owners are seriously so nice. We had previously booked a weekend here and had to cancel at the last minute. They offered to let us rebook for a different weekend so we wouldn't lose our deposit – it was so kind of them to offer that, because they would've been well within their rights to just pocket the money for the canceled stay. And can we talk about the fact that they offered to help us back in when we arrived? This is the first campground we've been to where we have been offered that. This campground is in a great location. We were staying here because we wanted to visit Lewis Adventure Farm (so worth it!) and this was just a 20-min drive away. It's also super close to many beautiful Lake Michigan beaches, and we had a wonderful time exploring a gorgeous county park nearby. We prefer campgrounds that have a more wooded/rustic feel and this definitely fit the bill. We had lots of trees and lots of privacy. Our site was big enough to fit our 30-foot camper, truck, and shade tent, with plenty of room to spare. Thanks for a great stay! We look forward to returning next summer.
Sep 16, 2024 · Chrissy BrackelThey put a Verizon cell tower on their property, which is viewable from the campsites and Big Blue Lake. It ruins that “Boondock” vibe you get me you don’t have cell service… I guess that’s the world we live in. You can’t escape it.
Apr 02, 2025 · Patrick TuccoriWe are first time camper owners, reserved a seasonal site for next year, Owners are awesome! They are there to help with everything, can't wait to get the season started!
Oct 12, 2024 · Jill LanningWonderful campground with amazing hosts! We had a full hookup site right next to the camp store and it was huge. The campground is very clean, the owners were out working every day we were there. We saw them grating the roads, chopping wood and cleaning every day. It's 15 minutes from michigan adventure and about 30 from Silver Lake Sand Dunes. We did both. I'm glad we found this place, we will be back. The owners were kind and helpful from the minute we got there. He helped me back my trailer in, they sold me some firewood even tho they were closed which was so helpful we would have been left without a campfire the first night, and they let me use their portal compressor to fill my low trailer tires. Highly recommend this camp ground, kid and family friendly, tons to do!
Jul 31, 2023 · JoshStayed in a camper Thursday, Friday, Saturday, left on Sunday.Nice owners. Nice site.I tried to sleep on the bunk bed the first night, but the thing you lay on is much too thin, making it very uncomfortable. I switched to the pullout sofa for the other nights.Could not access phone data. The free WiFi made it so I could barely watch a video on the lowest quality. You can pay for better internet, but I chose not to. I get it, internet costs money.Wait, does "Service" mean "customer service" or "internet service"? I think it's "customer service"...
