Based on recent feedback from campers, it's a place many appreciate, especially for its natural beauty and welcoming hosts. Let's delve into what Old Salem Campground offers, keeping in mind both its strengths and areas that are currently under improvement.
Environment and Location: Old Salem Campground is situated in Greensboro, GA, and at least one reviewer specifically highlighted having a camping spot with an "amazing view of the lake." This suggests that the campground benefits from a picturesque lakeside setting, which can greatly enhance the camping experience. The presence of lake views implies opportunities for water-related activities or simply enjoying the tranquility of the waterfront. For local users searching for "camping near me" with natural beauty, the promise of lake views at Old Salem Campground is a significant draw.
Services and Amenities: Based on the provided reviews, the amenity situation at Old Salem Campground is currently a mixed bag. While the hosts are consistently praised as "amazing," some of the facilities are facing challenges:
- Laundry Facilities: Multiple reviews mention that the laundry facilities, including washers and dryers, are currently out of order. This is noted as a significant inconvenience for campers, especially those on longer trips or frequent visitors. One reviewer pointed out the difficulty of finding a suitable alternative laundromat nearby, adding to the frustration.
- Playground: It's mentioned that the "bigger playground" was closed for construction at the time of one reviewer's stay. While this suggests future improvements to the recreational facilities for children, it's a current limitation for families with young kids.
It's important for potential visitors to be aware of these temporary limitations regarding laundry and the main playground.

These features indicate that Old Salem Campground has a strong foundation in terms of its environment and the people who run it.
Promotional Information (Based on Reviews): While there isn't traditional promotional content, the positive aspects highlighted in the reviews serve as a form of endorsement. The love for the campground expressed by one reviewer ("I really love this campground") and the enjoyment of a "great 2 night stay" despite the amenity issues suggest that the core camping experience—the location and the hospitality—is strong. The mention of "amazing views" is also a key selling point for those seeking a scenic camping spot.

For those who prioritize scenic beauty and a welcoming atmosphere, Old Salem Campground could still be a great option for a local getaway. Old Salem Campground Reviews
I really love this campground. The hosts are amazing!! The georgia power company needs to prioritize fixing the washers and dryers or bringing in new ones. They were trying to make it free to use them, but instead, now they just don't work. The closest laundromat is in an extremely shady area and for the price of gas to get there and cost to wash and dry, I could have stayed another night. I CANNOT stress enough how it just doesn't seem priority at all. It is a huge set back, especially for people who like to visit quite often. So VERY inconvenient.
Apr 25, 2025 · Journey AsplundHad a great 2 night stay here. Camping spot we used had an amazing view of the lake. Only giving 4 stars bc all laundry facilities were out of order as well as the bigger playground closed for construction. Great family friendly campgrounds with amazing views.
Apr 19, 2025 · Rebecca StaleyThis campground is great. Been coming here since I was eight and I’m 30 now with my own family. It’s nice and isolated but still close enough to the bougie Publix incase you forget something.
Apr 19, 2025 · Brandon BaileyGreat overnight stay. Nice level site. Clean restrooms. Looking forward to our next stay.
Apr 04, 2025 · Chuck AlburyMy family and I live really close by to Old Salem so we visit frequently for nice weekend getaways. This past trip we took there started out to be our worst experience yet. We stayed in site 61 and my parents stayed on site 60. A different family came in on Friday and took sites 57, 59, 63, 62 and a couple in a different area. On Friday night, that same family stayed up past 2am running up and down the street, hollering, smoking pot, drinking and all out partying even though quiet hours start at 10pm. They even had a work spot light on a stand pointed straight into my parents tent keeping them up over half the night. Then the next morning one of the women tried to have words with my wife and get an attitude with her. After walking up to the gate and speaking with the couple who work there we were told that we could move to a different site and they allowed us to leave the next day well after check out time because we lost time having to pack and unpack to move. We were then told that since we had to deal with such people while trying to relax we would be given a free weekend stay. Once the workers were made aware of the situation, they had local PD often patrolling the area and they themselves rode by those sites to make sure those people weren’t disturbing anyone else during their stay. This campground is by far our favorite place to visit for an easy getaway and the two couples that work there couldn’t be nicer and more helpful. Even though we had a rough night during one trip, we will continue to go there and look forward to many more great weekend camping trips at Old Salem.
