Pappy's Creekside Camp Introduce
For local adventurers in West Virginia seeking "camping near me" with a focus on off-road experiences, Pappy's Creekside Camp in Genoa presents a unique and evolving option. Located at 5736 Old N&w Railroad Rd, Genoa, WV 25517, USA, this campground caters primarily to those interested in exploring the region's trails with ATVs and side-by-side vehicles. You can reach them at (304) 972-3257 or their mobile number, +1 304-972-3257, for inquiries.
Based on recent customer feedback, Pappy's Creekside Camp appears to be a campground in transition, with ongoing development and a clear emphasis on providing access to local trail systems. One reviewer who recently took their second trip to the camp expressed positive sentiments, highlighting the "awesome people taking care of camp" and noting the visible progress being made. This suggests a dedicated team committed to improving the facilities and overall experience for visitors. The same reviewer specifically mentioned that while there are currently no hookups available for campers, the primary focus of the campground seems to be geared towards those who plan to spend their time riding the trails rather than staying at their campsite throughout the day.
A significant feature of Pappy's Creekside Camp is the availability of guided group rides. For those unfamiliar with the local trails or who prefer to explore with experienced leaders, there are "a few guys that will lead groups on rides to show people around." This service can be particularly valuable given that one reviewer noted that the "trails are not marked," which could make independent exploration challenging for newcomers. Participating in these guided rides offers a safe and informative way to discover the area's off-road terrain.
Adding to the convenience for riders, Pappy's Creekside Camp also offers on-site KRX side-by-side rentals. According to a recent visitor, these are "solid machines that just work for the local trails." Having rental options directly at the campground can be a significant advantage for those who do not own their own off-road vehicles or prefer to rent upon arrival. This allows more people to easily access and enjoy the trail riding opportunities in the Genoa area.
However, it's important to consider all available feedback to gain a balanced understanding of the current state of Pappy's Creekside Camp. One particularly critical review paints a less favorable picture of a cabin stay. This reviewer described the cabin as "absolutely filthy" with issues such as "dirt and dead bugs on the floor," a "nasty" coffee pot, a "dirty" and "extremely small counter," and "no access to running water" even in the bathhouse, which was described as looking like a "shed" and also being dirty. This feedback suggests that the condition of the lodging options may be a significant concern for some visitors.
The same negative review also corroborated the information about frequent group rides, stating that they were told there were groups going out "every weekend, all day long and also night riding." This reinforces the campground's focus on off-road activities. Additionally, this reviewer reiterated the lack of marked trails, emphasizing the potential need to rely on guided rides. This individual also reported leaving after only two of the three nights they had paid for due to their dissatisfaction and stated that they were not offered a refund or partial refund.
Considering both positive and negative feedback, Pappy's Creekside Camp appears to be a developing campground primarily catering to ATV and side-by-side enthusiasts. Its key features include access to local trails, guided group rides, and on-site side-by-side rentals. The management seems to be actively working on improvements, as noted by the returning visitor. However, potential visitors should be aware that the facilities, particularly lodging options, may vary in quality, and amenities such as water hookups for campers are currently unavailable. The lack of marked trails suggests that participating in guided rides or possessing strong navigational skills may be necessary for independent exploration.
For local users searching for "camping near me" with a strong interest in off-road riding, Pappy's Creekside Camp offers a direct gateway to the trails. The availability of rentals makes it accessible even for those without their own machines. The presence of organized group rides can enhance the experience, especially for those unfamiliar with the area. However, it is advisable to inquire about the current condition of the facilities, particularly if lodging is required, and to come prepared for a more rustic camping experience without standard hookups.
In conclusion, Pappy's Creekside Camp presents itself as a work-in-progress campground focused on providing access to ATV and side-by-side riding in the Genoa, West Virginia area. Its strengths lie in its trail access, guided rides, and rental options. Potential visitors should weigh these advantages against the reported shortcomings in facility cleanliness and the current lack of certain amenities. For those primarily interested in hitting the trails and engaging in group riding activities, Pappy's Creekside Camp may offer a worthwhile local "camping near me" option. It is recommended to contact them directly for the most up-to-date information on facilities and services before making a reservation.

Pappy's Creekside Camp Reviews
I would give it a zero if possible. The cabin we stayed in was absolutely filthy-dirt and dead bugs on the floor, coffee pot was nasty, extremely small counter was dirty, no access to running water (no even a sink in the bathhouse) and I could go on but I think you get the point. The bathhouse looked like a shed and was also dirty. Were told there were groups going out every weekend, all day long and also night riding. Trails are not marked so you really can't go out on your own. We paid for 3 nights, but only stayed for 2. And of course, we were never offered a refund or partial refund.
Oct 18, 2023 · Connie DixonJust took our second trip to Pappy's and zero regrets. Awesome people taking care of camp. It's a work in progress and the progress has been awesome. At this point there are no hookups but chances are you're headed to ride and not sit in your camper all day. There's a few guys that will lead groups on rides to show people around. KRX side by side rentals, solid machines that just work for the local trails. Give em a shot and you won't regret it!
Jul 25, 2021 · Mark GalbraithWe have been camping at Pappys for the last two years. We could not ask for a better place to stay. The owners are more like family to everyone they meet. They go above and beyond to make sure everyone is well taken care of and have everything they need...Fireworks, pig roast, and probably the best riding trails I've ever come across couldn't imagine camping anywhere else when we are in East Lynn.
Jun 17, 2021 · Cait EganHave stayed at Pappys Creekside Campground numerous times over the past two years. The owners are amazing people and go above and beyond the call of duty to make your stay wonderful! The East Lynn outlaw trails are the best we have ever rode, from technical to creeks and scenic. Lots to ride and experience!
