Pelican Lake Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Randlett, Utah area and considering Pelican Lake Campground, located at Randlett, UT 84063, USA? While the campground boasts some attractive natural elements, it's essential for local users to be aware of certain environmental factors and logistical considerations highlighted in recent customer reviews before making a reservation.
One of the potentially appealing aspects of Pelican Lake Campground is its natural environment. Reviewers specifically mention the "pretty lake," suggesting that the campground offers scenic waterfront views and possibly opportunities for lake-related activities. Additionally, the "exceptional flora" and "pretty flowers in the sagebrush" indicate a visually appealing landscape with diverse plant life, which could be particularly attractive to nature enthusiasts and those who appreciate botanical beauty.
However, the environment surrounding Pelican Lake Campground is also characterized by significant industrial activity. Multiple reviewers express concern about the proximity of "oil pumps or whatever that is," with one explicitly stating, "I can't believe how noisy and near the pump jacks are." This suggests that campers should anticipate potential noise pollution from nearby oil extraction operations, which could detract from the natural tranquility typically sought during a camping experience. The noise appears to be a persistent issue, with one reviewer mentioning a diesel tanker truck driving by at 1 am, further contributing to the disturbance.
Accessibility to Pelican Lake Campground is another crucial factor to consider. Multiple reviews caution against relying on Google Maps for directions, with one user describing them as "absolutely garbage" and recounting a scary and unsafe experience of driving on someone’s ranch in the dark. Another reviewer explicitly advises, "Follow the signs that say pelican lake, not google," and notes that it’s "several miles on unpaved roads." This indicates that reaching the campground requires navigating unpaved roads, which may necessitate a vehicle with good clearance and could result in a dusty or bumpy journey. It is imperative for potential visitors to heed the advice to follow local signage rather than GPS directions to avoid getting lost or trespassing.
In terms of services and features, Pelican Lake Campground offers some basic amenities. Reviewers mention that the "vault toilets are clean," which is a positive aspect for hygiene. Campers also appreciated the presence of "covered tables and fire ring" at the campsites, providing essential infrastructure for outdoor dining and campfires. However, one reviewer noted that the "parking spaces are not level," which could pose challenges for leveling RVs or setting up comfortable tent areas.
One particularly frustrating issue reported by a reviewer concerns the reservation system, which apparently "wouldn't let me book one night." As a result, the reviewer was charged for two nights despite only intending to stay for one and not even being present for the first night. This suggests a potential inflexibility or issue with the booking system that local users should be aware of when making reservations. It might be advisable to confirm booking details and minimum stay requirements directly with the campground management.
Based on the objective information from the reviews, local users considering "camping near me" at Pelican Lake Campground should be aware of the following:
- **Pretty Lake and Exceptional Flora:** The campground offers scenic beauty with a lake and interesting plant life.
- **Proximity to Oil Operations:** Expect significant noise from nearby oil pump jacks and potential industrial traffic.
- **Unreliable Google Maps Directions:** Do not rely on GPS; follow local signs for Pelican Lake.
- **Unpaved Roads:** Access to the campground involves several miles of unpaved roads, requiring a suitable vehicle.
- **Clean Vault Toilets:** Basic but clean restroom facilities are available.
- **Covered Tables and Fire Rings:** Campsites are equipped with these appreciated amenities.
- **Uneven Parking Spaces:** Parking or setup areas may not be level.
- **Potential Booking Issues:** Be cautious with the reservation system regarding minimum stays or unintended charges.
Promotional information is not available in the provided reviews. To inquire about current rates, availability, specific campsite conditions, or to address concerns about the reservation system and directions, local users should contact Pelican Lake Campground directly at (435) 781-4400 or +1 435-781-4400.
In conclusion, while Pelican Lake Campground offers a potentially attractive natural setting with a pretty lake and unique flora, the significant drawbacks of noise from nearby oil operations, unreliable GPS directions leading to unpaved roads, and potentially uneven campsites are crucial considerations. Local users seeking "camping near me" in the Randlett, Utah area should carefully weigh these factors against the basic amenities provided and the scenic elements before deciding to book a stay at Pelican Lake Campground. Direct communication with the campground management is highly recommended to clarify any concerns and ensure a more informed decision.

Pelican Lake Campground Reviews
If the flora wasn't exceptional, it is, this would be a one star review. I'm not sure if the oil came first or the campground. I can't believe how noisy and near the pump jacks are. A diesel tanker truck drove by at 1am. The reservation system wouldn't let me book one night so I paid for last night and tonight. I wasn't even here yesterday. Pretty flowers in the sagebrush. Vault toilets are clean. Parking spaces are not level. Covered tables and fire ring was appreciated.
Aug 13, 2023 · Brad GrimmAbsolutely garbage google maps directions, now I see someone called that out but I missed that and drove around in the dark on someone’s ranch — scary and unsafe because it’s their ranch and not real roads!!!!Campsite was okay, lake is pretty but the oil pumps or whatever that is really ruin the nature vibe. I recommend having a good car bc it’s several miles on unpaved roads. Follow the signs that say pelican lake, not google.

Oct 25, 2024 · jaiyme petersenUnexpectedly great little campsite with raised platforms for the tents, fire pits, and bathrooms that actually smelled nice. NOTE: APPROACH FROM PELICAN LAKE ROAD ON THE WEST, NOT THE EAST SIDE. Google Maps seems to think right now there's a road to the east but it's actually all a ranch.
Apr 25, 2020 · Jeremiah ScanlanAside from the lack of trash receptacles, and the bugs, this place is amazing! Just a short drive from Vernal, UT to clean / quiet camping, and nice fishing!
