Praised by visitors as a "hidden gem," this campground provides a perfect escape for those seeking relaxation, fishing opportunities, and a strong sense of community. If you're a local user yearning for a peaceful riverside getaway, Penn's Creek Campground could be your ideal destination.
One of the most significant features of Penn's Creek Campground is its prime location directly on Penns Creek. This offers campers immediate access to the water, making it a haven for fishing enthusiasts. Imagine stepping right from your campsite to cast a line into the creek, known for its excellent fishing. The reviews highlight the joy of fishing directly from the campsite, emphasizing the convenience and the quality of the angling experience. The soothing sounds of the flowing creek also contribute to the overall relaxing atmosphere of the campground.
Beyond fishing, Penn's Creek Campground provides a serene environment perfect for unwinding and connecting with nature. Visitors consistently mention the relaxing ambiance, making it an ideal spot to escape the stresses of everyday life. The natural beauty of the area surrounding Penns Creek enhances this peaceful experience, creating a scenic backdrop for your camping adventure. The campground fosters a welcoming atmosphere where fellow campers are friendly, contributing to a positive and enjoyable stay.
For those interested in exploring the local area, Penn's Creek Campground's location in Millmont, PA, may offer proximity to various events and attractions. One reviewer specifically mentions "events in the surrounding area" and "TD Cats," suggesting that there might be local happenings of interest to campers. While the specifics of these events are not detailed, this indicates that the campground can serve as a convenient base for exploring the wider region.
A crucial piece of information highlighted by a recent visitor is the limited to non-existent cell phone service at Penn's Creek Campground. This is an important consideration for local users who rely on their mobile devices for communication, navigation, or accessing information. The reviewer noted that even in the nearest town, Verizon service was spotty. This lack of connectivity means that accessing weather reports, online maps, or other internet-based services can be challenging. The reviewer strongly advises future campers to be prepared for this by bringing physical maps, a cell booster if they have one, or a radio for weather updates. They also suggest downloading any important information or media beforehand, especially if not using a satellite internet service like Starlink.
While the lack of cell service might be a drawback for some, particularly those accustomed to having information readily available, the reviewer who mentioned it also emphasized that it wasn't a "big deal" for their fishing-focused trip, except when needing weather updates and stream regulations. This suggests that for those primarily seeking a natural escape and activities like fishing, the limited connectivity might be a manageable trade-off for the peaceful and scenic environment.
The campsite itself, as mentioned by a visitor, was located right on the water, further enhancing the riverside camping experience. The hookups available at the campsite were reported to be in good working condition, indicating that essential utilities are provided for campers. However, the specific types of hookups (e.g., electric, water, sewer) are not detailed in the provided information.
In summary, Penn's Creek Campground offers local users a "camping near me" experience that is rich in natural beauty and opportunities for relaxation and fishing. Its location directly on Penns Creek is a major draw, providing stunning waterfront campsites and easy access to excellent fishing. The friendly atmosphere and potential proximity to local events add to its appeal. However, it is essential for prospective campers to be aware of the limited to non-existent cell phone service in the area and to plan accordingly by bringing necessary maps, downloading information in advance, or considering alternative communication methods. Despite this connectivity challenge, Penn's Creek Campground remains a "hidden gem" for those seeking a peaceful and scenic riverside escape in Millmont, PA. Penn's Creek Campground Reviews
Penns Creek campground is a hidden gem of a place nested right on Penns creek. Fishing, relaxing, camping, great people surround you. Events in the surrounding area as well as TD Cats make this an every year thing for us. Should be for you too.
Oct 30, 2024 · Keith HCampsite was right on water. Hook ups were all in good working condition. My only concern is there is no cell service. Not a big deal if f you are prepared but we were not. It should probably be mentioned on website. Even in nearest town cell service s spotty with Verizon. We could not access weather reports or maps. Unfortunately we have grown accustomed to having information at our fingertips. Bring a map, a cell booster or radio and unless you have Starlink make sure you download any important information or media you wish to play. We were there to fish so it wasn’t a big deal except weather reports and stream regulations.
Sep 29, 2024 · Sandra CourterGreat place to relax and work with the crew on some fresh new tracks.
Feb 06, 2025 · Eric StartzelDecent economical campground but kind of in the middle of nowhere. The full hookup sites were large enough, and right on the river. I had a great time here, solo camping and fishing every day. But that's why I went. For a family or a couple who isn't big into trout fishing, you might get a little bored. There is not much to do that is very close by. The nearest decent sized grocery store or Walmart is about 45 minutes away. But if you're looking to get away from all that, this could be a nice peaceful retreat.
Sep 18, 2023 · DM ONealIf you are looking for a great place to camp along Penns Creek this is it! It’s not fancy, but the Full Hook Up sites are right on the creek. Easy reservation system online with a confirmation email. No check-in/check-out procedure; just find your site and enjoy. Bathroom is small: one toilet, one sink, one shower but clean and accessible if needed. You can park your rig normal back-in style or parallel to the creek. Everyone was very friendly, many with dogs (but leashed). We were on site 32. Originally reserved for Thursday—went online and say our site was open/available on Wed and booked the additional night. So easy! They sell firewood—can be ordered when you reserve and it will be on your site. Site includes fire ring and picnic table. The outer loop is all seasonal campers but no trashy sites. All kept nice and neat. Here is the best part: our site was $35 per night for full hook up! Definitely will return. We were in town to visit friends near by and go to the Union County Sportsmen Club Gun Raffle. What a great time. Deduction of one point was only to stay in line with my ratings—since there is not full time staff on property, larger bathhouse, store, or laundry—none of which I needed but felt a 4 star would be more helpful for those who are reading the review. Very relaxing campground.
