Sunsational Family Campground Reviews
Five years of wonderful camping memories relaxing by the creek, gazing at the mountains, listening to nature, being visited by turtles/turkeys/deer, and laughing with friends and neighbors. Ron and Irene have always been gracious to us, it's been like a second home us and to my son Aiden, especially since 2020 happened. They've always gone above and beyond to look out for him and make events special for all the kids here. Some of the events they've put on include: Christmas in July, fireworks shows, golf cart parades to give away candy, fall pumpkin painting, summer DJ nights, bonfires at the Restaurant, camp-wide auctions, and a new game room for birthdays/special events. My wife was enamored with this place ever since we stayed at one of the cabins when my son was 7 years old. That was one of our first family memories together, we didn't get much time together when the kids were young due to my wife and I working opposite schedules. The four of us got to spend a memorable weekend together, cooking from a little charcoal stove, eating by the creek at a little picnic table while gathered around a little fire ring that sat not far from the gentle soothing creek. On that occasion my son wandered off a little too far from our cabin at camp, and Irene rallied the whole campground to locate him. Five minutes later he was found and she brought him back to us safe and sound. On that day we learned how quickly a boy can run off while exploring. We were grateful to be here. We've made some great friendships and summer memories at this place, it will always hold a special place in our hearts. Irene gave my son a bike our first year here, and he literally wore the tires off it riding around the park. We've had picnics, birthday parties, floats in the creek, rides to the club, watched fireworks under the stars, and made trips with great friends to explore nearby restaurants/places. We've enjoyed our time here, it will always be one of our favorite places. Met some of our favorite people here and made some enduring friendships. It must be said that my son is the dog ambassador - he wants to greet and befriend every dog he sees, hence the reason I have met so many of our camp neighbors at this place. We plan on coming back to visit every now and then. Thanks for the memories...
Apr 07, 2025 · Chris BarsisWe Loved it here!Beautiful scenery, the river is amazing, the permanent campers are friendly and welcoming. Irene and her husband are wonderful Camp host. We will visit again next year.
May 29, 2024 · Kristie MoweryEveryone is so friendly, they have a really nice salt water pool, plus a small restaurant. It’s nice if you don’t have money you can just add it to your account and pay for it. Once a month. It’s our first time at the campground this year. And we love it so far.
Jun 03, 2024 · jason nairnsSunsational Family Campground is a relaxing retreat, perfectly suited for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike. With its picturesque location along Penns Creek, offering prime access to trout fishing, it's undoubtedly a haven for those seeking relaxation and outdoor adventures. The amenities provided, such as being dog-friendly, allowing golf carts and UTVs, and boasting an in-ground saltwater pool, kids’ activities on Saturdays, cater to a wide range of interests and ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay for visitors. The convenience of having an on-site restaurant for those lazy weekends adds to the appeal, along with nearby dining options for variety. The proximity to various attractions, including the Union County Sportsmen’s Club, Boomerangs Bar & Grille, Mifflinburg for antiquing as well as discovering local shops & restaurants, Beaver Springs Dragway, and the West End Fair in August, ensures there's never a dull moment for those looking to explore the area. Additionally, the accessibility to hiking trails in Bald Eagle State Forest Laurelton offers a perfect opportunity to immerse oneself in nature. But perhaps the most valuable aspect of Sunsational Family Campground is the sense of community and camaraderie among its seasonal guests. The bonds formed over shared experiences and "family" dinners create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, turning acquaintances into lifelong friends. Overall, Sunsational Family Campground offers the perfect blend of tranquility, recreation, and community, making it a cherished destination for my husband, our furbabies & myself over the past three seasons.
Mar 06, 2024 · Dayna DannJust arrived and some dude came to our window started threatening us in front of my 4&1 year old and we turned around and left. We are a little disturbed. The place did NOTHING about him. If I wasn’t the Good Samaritan that I try to be, I woulda called the police. Instead we left. Please be advised it’s a sketchy area so I’m not surprised. Shame on me for wanting to go camping on my first Mother’s Day with my foster kiddos. I will not be returning. Owner lady (can’t recall her name) was so snappy at us. God has other plans for us this weekend I suppose. Please consider your safety. I have to apologize to my children now….
