Gray Squirrel Campground Introduce
Are you searching for a "camping near me" experience in the Beavertown, Pennsylvania area that offers a combination of friendly service and affordability? Gray Squirrel Campground, located at 507 Gray Squirrel Rd, Beavertown, PA 17813, appears to be a noteworthy option based on recent customer reviews. This campground seems to prioritize guest satisfaction and offers budget-friendly accommodations, making it an attractive choice for local users seeking a convenient and welcoming outdoor stay.
One of the standout features of Gray Squirrel Campground, according to a recent review, is the exceptional quality of the owners. The reviewer described them as "great" and "easy to work with if you need them." This suggests a management team that is approachable, responsive, and willing to assist guests with any issues or requests. The reviewer shared a specific anecdote that further illustrates the owners' dedication to guest well-being. When the reviewer's wife pulled over in front of the store late at night to finish a call, the owner followed her to the campsite just to ensure everything was okay. This level of care and attention to detail goes above and beyond typical campground service and speaks volumes about the owners' commitment to their guests' safety and comfort. The reviewer concluded that you "can't ask for a better camp ground owners," which is a strong endorsement of the management.
Beyond the exceptional owners, the first review also touched upon the general environment of the campground. The reviewer noted that the owners "leave you alone as long as you don't give them a reason to bug you," suggesting a respectful balance between attentiveness and allowing guests their privacy. This can be particularly appealing to campers who prefer a more independent and quiet experience without excessive interference. The reviewer also described the campground as a "wonderful place," indicating an overall positive impression of the setting and atmosphere.
However, the first review did mention one area that could use improvement: "the road around the camp needs work they had major rains that cut ruts into some of the roads other than that no problems." This is a practical consideration for local users, especially those with larger vehicles or those who value smooth transit within the campground. While the reviewer noted this as the only issue, it's something to be aware of, particularly after periods of heavy rainfall.
The second review provides additional insights into the affordability and service at Gray Squirrel Campground. The reviewer stated, "Cheap price for a nights stay. Friendly service." This confirms the campground's appeal for budget-conscious travelers seeking "camping near me" that doesn't compromise on hospitality. The mention of "friendly service" aligns with the first review's praise of the owners, suggesting a consistent culture of helpfulness throughout the campground.
The second reviewer also mentioned staying in a "Cottage" that they described as "rather apartment." While they noted it "wasn’t the most ideal," they also acknowledged that it was "for half the price of a motel room what do you expect! Did the job for us." This indicates that Gray Squirrel Campground offers more than just traditional campsites; they also have some form of cabin or apartment-style accommodations available at a very competitive price. For local users who prefer a solid roof over their heads or are looking for a more budget-friendly alternative to a motel, these "cottages" might be a viable option, even if they are basic in their amenities.
Based on the address in Beavertown, PA, Gray Squirrel Campground is situated in the scenic Susquehanna Valley region. This area is known for its natural beauty, potentially offering a peaceful and picturesque environment for camping. While the reviews don't explicitly detail the specific natural features of the campground itself (e.g., wooded areas, proximity to water), the general location suggests a pleasant outdoor setting. The "shady" aspect implied by the campground's name further hints at a comfortable environment, especially during warmer months.
In terms of services and features, the reviews highlight the helpfulness of the owners and the availability of "cottage" or apartment-style rentals in addition to campsites. The boat rental service mentioned in the name of a nearby campground (Shady Brook Campground & Boat Rental, LLC, also in Beavertown) is not mentioned here, so it's not confirmed if Gray Squirrel Campground offers this directly. However, its proximity to the Susquehanna River suggests potential access to water-based activities in the broader area.
Other common campground amenities such as restroom facilities, showers, fire pits, and picnic tables are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in these specific features would need to contact Gray Squirrel Campground directly to inquire about their availability and condition.
Similarly, there is no specific promotional information included in the provided text. To learn about rates for campsites and the "cottages," reservation procedures, seasonal discounts, or any other special offers, local users should contact Gray Squirrel Campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (570) 837-0333 or +1 570-837-0333. The availability of both traditional campsites and budget-friendly "cottage" rentals offers flexibility for different types of travelers. Mar 26, 2024 · Travis WitmerWish we would of found this place sooner! Didn't know it existed until we found a house in the area & needed a place to stay with our motor home. It's tucked away in a wooded corner of beautiful Pa, it has a creek that runs thru it, plenty of walking areas, animal friendly, , & people extra friendly! The owners, Julie & Dennis are as nice , & laid back as a Sunday afternoon😊 The rates are unbeatable anywhere for full hookup, they have a seasonal rate also, had we found them before we bought a home , we would have done a seasonal rate here. It's quiet, even tho they have a large number of campers, it is very quiet , day & night, I stayed in 28A & can hear the creek at night when I had my windows open, very peaceful. If u haven't stayed there I highly recommend it,, it's like a community, more than a campground
Nov 23, 2023 · Nona PicIf you're looking for a quiet place, this is it. No golf carts or 4 wheelers allowed. Mostly older crowd. Not much to do for kids. Priced right. They do have programs, meals, and Sunday services. We love the peace and quiet!!
Jun 08, 2023 · Michael GemberlingWe stayed here in September 2022, were in the area for the FE Ford motor reunion at Beaver Springs racetrack. Gave it 4 stars as campsites were very close to one another. Mostly seasonal sites. Very quiet and wooded just what we like. Got to hear a seasonal camper down the road play his guitar and sing. Really enjoyed that! We asked the owners for a better campfire ring and they switched it out right away. Very nice owners. We’d stay there again.
