Port Valhalla Campground, LLC Introduce
For local residents in Wisconsin searching for "camping near me" near Amery, Port Valhalla Campground, LLC, located at 794 100th St, Amery, WI 54001, offers a camping experience with a strong sense of community and access to a lake. With contact numbers (715) 781-2944 and +1 715-781-2944, this campground is described by visitors as nice and well-kept, with a particularly friendly owner and a welcoming atmosphere from the seasonal residents who make up the majority of the campers. However, potential visitors should be aware of reported issues with noise levels, particularly late at night, and limitations regarding swimming in the lake due to concerns about swimmer's itch.
The environment at Port Valhalla Campground is centered around a lake, although the reviews indicate that swimming may not be a primary activity due to concerns about swimmer's itch and a limited swimming area. Despite this, the presence of the lake likely contributes to the overall ambiance of the campground and may offer opportunities for other water-related activities such as fishing or boating, although these are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. The campground is described as "very nice and well kept," suggesting an effort to maintain an attractive and organized environment. The layout includes a mix of seasonal sites and those for transient campers. While the beauty of the natural surroundings isn't extensively detailed, the lakeside location in Wisconsin implies a setting with trees and typical lake country scenery. However, the significant noise levels reported by one reviewer, including loud parties, singing, yelling, cursing, and late-night music from neighbors and golf carts, are a critical aspect of the environment that potential campers should consider, especially if seeking a quiet retreat.
Port Valhalla Campground, LLC offers essential services for campers, including water and electricity hookups at some sites, as mentioned by a reviewer who appreciated this convenience. The majority of sites are reported to be seasonal with a few available for short-term visitors. The campground provides bathroom facilities with showers, which are noted as clean. However, one crucial piece of information is that campers should bring their own toilet paper, as it was reportedly not consistently available in the bathrooms. The owner of the campground is described as "extremely friendly and easy to get along with," suggesting good customer service. While other specific amenities such as laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, or recreational areas (beyond the lake) are not mentioned in the reviews, the presence of a well-kept environment indicates that basic campground infrastructure is likely in place. The friendly nature of the seasonal residents contributes to a welcoming atmosphere for newcomers.
Several features characterize Port Valhalla Campground. The strong sense of community among the seasonal campers is a notable feature, with many visitors describing them as "VERY friendly." The owner's friendliness also enhances the overall experience. The availability of water and electricity hookups at some campsites is a significant feature for RV and trailer campers. The clean bathrooms with showers are a positive aspect of the facilities. However, the potential for significant noise, especially at night, is a key feature that may deter those seeking a peaceful environment. The lake access is a feature, but the limitations regarding swimming due to swimmer's itch need to be considered. The mix of seasonal and transient sites creates a dynamic where short-term visitors are integrated into a long-term community. The fact that it's a popular destination, as suggested by one reviewer who noted a "little clicky IMO" but would return, indicates that it has its own established appeal.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews for Port Valhalla Campground, LLC. For local users interested in camping here, the best way to inquire about rates, availability, and any potential discounts or special offers is to contact the campground directly at (715) 781-2944 or +1 715-781-2944. It would be prudent to ask about the different types of campsites available (full hookup vs. water/electric), the pricing structure for daily, weekly, or seasonal stays, and any policies regarding noise levels or quiet hours, despite the reviewer's experience suggesting a lack of enforcement. Inquiring about the lake conditions and any recommendations for water activities other than swimming would also be helpful. Given that seasonal campers occupy many sites, it's advisable to book in advance, especially during peak seasons, to secure a spot. Checking if the campground has a website or social media presence might also provide additional information or updates on promotions.
For those considering a stay at Port Valhalla Campground, it's essential to weigh the positive aspects, such as the friendly community and owner, and the availability of hookups, against the potential drawbacks, particularly the noise issues and the limitations with lake swimming. If you are someone who enjoys a lively atmosphere and doesn't prioritize quiet evenings, or if your camping plans do not heavily involve swimming in the lake, Port Valhalla might be a good fit. However, if you are sensitive to noise and are looking for a peaceful retreat with good swimming access, you might want to consider other options. Remember to bring your own toilet paper for the bathrooms. The experience of one reviewer who found the place "a little clicky" might suggest that newcomers might feel slightly outside the established seasonal community initially, but the overall friendliness seems to outweigh this.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Amery area, Port Valhalla Campground, LLC offers a lakeside setting with a strong community feel and essential amenities like water and electric hookups, as well as clean bathrooms with showers. The friendliness of the owner and the seasonal residents is a significant positive. However, the reported high noise levels and the limitations for swimming in the lake are important factors to consider. By contacting the campground directly, potential visitors can obtain more information about site availability, rates, and any specific policies to determine if Port Valhalla aligns with their camping preferences and needs.
In conclusion, Port Valhalla Campground, LLC near Amery, Wisconsin, provides a well-kept camping environment with a friendly community and a helpful owner. The availability of lake access and utility hookups are definite advantages. However, the significant noise issues reported by a visitor and the concerns about swimming in the lake due to swimmer's itch are important considerations for local users searching for "camping near me." Direct communication with the campground is recommended to gather the most current information and assess whether the lively atmosphere and lakeside setting meet your expectations for a camping getaway.

Port Valhalla Campground, LLC Reviews
The place is very nice and well kept. Seems a little clicky IMO. But I'll be back.
Sep 07, 2024 · Jen KuhlmanWe came here to camp with our kids, our friends and their kids. There were things we liked and didn’t like about this campground.NOISEIt was the loudest campground we have ever been to. There don’t appear to be any quiet times here. There were several very loud parties nearby with loud singing, yelling and cursing. Our immediate neighbors waited until 11 pm to turn on their music. People also drove their golf carts around after midnight with stereos playing. This would be a great place to party, but if you want to get a little sleep it might not be for you.LAKEWe are told the lake gives swimmers itch and there wasn’t really much of a swimming area. We didn’t go in the lake.EVERYTHING ELSEThe majority of sites here are seasonal with a few people like us coming and going. Everyone was VERY friendly. The owner of the campground was also extremely friendly and easy to get along with. Our site had water and electricity which was nice. The bathrooms were clean and have showers, although make sure you bring your own toilet paper because there wasn’t any.
Jul 28, 2019 · jomar55108Lee was wonderful and very accommodating! Bathrooms were clean and basically were like they were ours being there were no other campers there, which the kids loved! The only issue we had was not having septic hookup and being there for a couple weeks meant we had to drive the RV 2 miles down the road to have it dumped, drive it back and reset everything up again. BUT, short term, it would be just fine! The campground was very quiet and and the seasonals/year rounders were very nice.

Oct 14, 2024 · Mara ChristiansenGreat campground if you have a camper, boat, and are looking to spend some time on the lake. I wish there would have been more shore fishing available. Docks are privately owned so they are off limits. Getting a camper and boat to the campground may require two trips.
