Cold Spring Campground Introduce
For local users in Oregon searching for "camping near me," Cold Spring Campground, situated along McKenzie Hwy in Sisters, OR 97759, USA, offers a highly recommended and welcoming outdoor experience. Based on recent customer reviews, this introduction aims to provide a detailed overview of the environment, services, features, and other pertinent information about Cold Spring Campground to help you plan your next camping trip.
Environment: Clean Grounds, Cold Creek, and Private Campsites
The environment of Cold Spring Campground is consistently praised for its cleanliness and natural beauty. Reviewers highlight that "The grounds and toilets were very clean," and "The sites were all nice and clean, bathrooms the same." This emphasis on cleanliness suggests a well-maintained campground that prioritizes the comfort and hygiene of its visitors. Such attention to detail contributes significantly to a positive camping experience.
A notable natural feature is the creek that runs through or alongside the campground. As one reviewer aptly states, "The creek lives up to its name. It's cold enough that you can feel a difference in the ambient temp when you walk by it." This "cold spring" creek not only adds to the scenic charm of the area but also provides a refreshing coolness to the air, particularly welcome during warmer months. The presence of a natural water source can also enhance the overall sense of being immersed in nature.
In terms of campsite privacy, the reviews indicate that "Most sites are pretty private." This is a significant advantage for campers seeking a more secluded and intimate experience in nature. The spacing and natural screening between campsites likely contribute to this sense of privacy, allowing for a more relaxed and undisturbed stay. For those prioritizing even greater seclusion, one reviewer recommends the "west side of the loop," suggesting that this area offers enhanced privacy compared to other parts of the campground.
While the campground is primarily described as peaceful, it's worth noting the presence of "some ATV/OHV trails that border the campground." One reviewer mentioned experiencing "some loud dirtbike noise" one afternoon, though they also noted that "it was short lived." This suggests that while the campground generally offers a tranquil environment, occasional noise from off-highway vehicle activity in the adjacent area might occur. However, the fact that the noise was short-lived implies it is not a persistent issue.
The noise from the nearby "242 highway is almost non-existent," which is a significant positive for those concerned about traffic noise impacting their camping experience. This indicates that Cold Spring Campground offers a relatively quiet setting despite its proximity to a major route.
Services and Amenities: Friendly Hosts and RV-Friendly Sites
The services at Cold Spring Campground are highly commended, particularly the exceptional camp hosts. Multiple reviewers specifically mention the positive interactions with them, describing them as "amazing," "very friendly and informative about the area," "so welcoming and nice to us," and "helpful with local information as well as some good stories." The presence of friendly and knowledgeable camp hosts can greatly enhance the camping experience by providing assistance, local insights, and a welcoming atmosphere.
In terms of campsite suitability, it is noted that "Most sites are RV friendly." This is a significant feature for campers traveling with recreational vehicles. While the reviews confirm the suitability for RVs, they also mention that "there were no generators running at night." This suggests that while RVs are welcome, there might be quiet hours enforced regarding generator use to maintain a peaceful environment for all campers. This is often seen as a positive aspect, ensuring a quieter nighttime experience.
The cleanliness of the "toilets" and "bathrooms" is repeatedly mentioned, indicating that maintaining clean and sanitary facilities is a priority at Cold Spring Campground. This is a crucial aspect of campground quality and greatly contributes to camper comfort and satisfaction.
The availability of "Some Verizon cell signal" is another service to note. While it is described as "Not enough for much beyond texts and email," it is still valuable for "checking in" and basic communication. Campers should be aware that the signal strength might be limited and not suitable for extensive internet use or streaming.
While not explicitly stated, the presence of individual campsites likely implies the availability of basic amenities at each site, such as picnic tables and fire rings or designated cooking areas. However, this is an inference based on typical campground setups and would benefit from confirmation through official sources or further reviews.

Jul 10, 2023 · Eric KeyserThis campground is great! It's clean, quiet, and very well kept. The sites were all nice and clean, bathrooms the same. And the camp hosts were so welcoming and nice to us. They were helpful with local information as well as some good stories. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!
May 31, 2023 · Chris RiehlBeautiful forest. No shower. There is a small cold spring water creek you can soak your feet in.
Jul 19, 2023 · oluchi chiVery quiet and beautiful. Our spot was near the water pump and port-a-potty so it was convenient. I heard the water pump when it was being used, but it didn't bother me. I loved the large spots and the picnic table. Plan to stay here again.
Jul 13, 2024 · joan rutherfordI rolled in there with my bike a few days ago. It was quiet and peaceful. For water the pump is missing. You have to walk up to the spring. For late Autumn camping, you could take your chances here with the snow. It does get deeper up the mountain. Pack it in, pack it out. Pick your weather and go camping.
