One reviewer who spent the spring and summer at R&R Deerrun Campground after a last-minute change of travel plans had a thoroughly positive experience. They specifically appreciated the presence of a "diner/camp store open during the weekends," noting that the "food/service was great!" This on-site amenity adds significant convenience, allowing campers to enjoy meals and purchase necessities without having to travel far. The reviewer, who travels frequently and has seen many campgrounds, expressed a preference for "the smaller family owned ones over the larger ones where you feel like you are a sardine trapped between RVs," highlighting the more personal and spacious feel of R&R Deerrun Campground.
Addressing a common concern for RV travelers, the reviewer also pointed out that "the roads in this area are big rig friendly," ensuring that even those with larger vehicles will have "no issues getting to or from the campground." This is a significant advantage for RV owners seeking accessible "camping near me."
The same reviewer thoughtfully provided a list of pros and cons, offering a balanced perspective. The pros include that the campground is "Family/pet friendly," making it an ideal choice for those traveling with children and animals. They also noted "plenty of activities to join on the weekends/holidays," suggesting a lively and engaging atmosphere during peak times. For those seeking tranquility, it's "quiet during the week." The owners and other campers are described as "friendly and helpful," fostering a welcoming community spirit. Amenities include "a playground," perfect for keeping children entertained, and "a pond for fishing," offering a relaxing recreational activity. Additionally, the campground is conveniently located "15-20 minutes away from groceries," making it easy to stock up on supplies.
The cons mentioned were that they "only have 20/30 AMP service," which might be a limitation for RVs requiring higher power, although the reviewer noted that they "are in the process of doing many upgrades and electric is on that list," indicating future improvements. The other con was that "Cell service is spotty," which could be challenging for those needing to work remotely, but the reviewer suggested that "nothing that a booster wouldn't help with."
Another reviewer echoed the positive sentiments, describing the owners as "so sweet" and the service as "great." They were charmed by the antique decorations and raved about the food, stating that "if you leave here hungry it's on you" due to the "generous" servings. They also enjoyed relaxing on the "beautiful deck" and found the other campers to be "so nice and inviting," further emphasizing the friendly community. R&R Deerrun Campground Reviews
We had a last minute change of travel plans and spent the spring/summer here and it was great! There is a diner/camp store open during the weekends and the food/service was great! We travel a lot so we get to see a large number of campgrounds and we prefer the smaller family owned ones over the larger ones where you feel like you are a sardine trapped between RVs. One of the things I fear most when going to a campground out in the country are the unknown roads, but the roads in this area are big rig friendly so you will not have any issues getting to or from the campground. I have a list of pros/cons and hopefully they help you out.Pros: Family/pet friendly, plenty of activities to join on the weekends/holidays, quiet during the week, the owners and the other campers in general are friendly and helpful. There is a playground, a pond for fishing, 15-20 minutes away from groceries.Cons: They only have 20/30 AMP service, but they are in the process of doing many upgrades and electric is on that list. Cell service is spotty, so working from home can be challenging, but nothing that a booster wouldn't help with.Thank you so much for making room for our family on such short notice. We greatly appreciate you guys and cannot wait to return next time we are back up that way.
