Raysville McDuffie Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Thomson, Georgia area, Raysville McDuffie Campground, located at 6489 Lincolnton Rd NE, Thomson, GA 30824, and reachable at (706) 699-6257 or +1 706-699-6257, presents a camping option with both positive and negative recent feedback. While some aspects like the scenic waterfront sites and wildlife viewing opportunities are appealing, recent changes in management appear to have impacted the overall cleanliness and atmosphere of the campground, according to customer reviews.
The environment of Raysville McDuffie Campground offers some attractive natural features. Campsite 32 is specifically highlighted as a "beautiful site overlooking the water" with a "stunning view." Guests at this site reported being able to spot two eagles living across the water, indicating the presence of local wildlife. The campground's proximity to water suggests potential for activities like fishing or simply enjoying the views. However, one significant environmental challenge mentioned is the steep hill leading down to the water, which could make access difficult for some individuals, although children reportedly found a way. A long-time camper noted that the campground used to be nice and quiet, suggesting a potentially peaceful environment in the past. However, this reviewer also observed an increase in trash along the roadways since McDuffie County took over management, indicating a potential decline in the overall cleanliness of the grounds. For local users seeking "camping near me" with waterfront views and wildlife, Raysville McDuffie Campground has potential, but recent concerns about cleanliness need to be considered.
The services at Raysville McDuffie Campground include a bathhouse, which, according to one review, is "old but they keep it clean and mopped." This suggests that while the facilities might be dated, efforts are made to maintain a certain level of cleanliness. However, guests are advised to "bring your own toiletries and flip flops" when using the bathhouse, indicating that these items are not provided. A returning camper mentioned that sites were not cleaned upon their arrival in a recent visit, with used toilet paper, aluminum cans in the fire pit, and an uncleaned grill found at their site. This suggests inconsistencies in site maintenance. The same reviewer also noted seeing a lot of cans and bottles along the roads during walks, further indicating potential issues with litter. While the campground may offer basic amenities like water and power hookups at the campsites (though not explicitly mentioned), the recent feedback raises concerns about the level of cleanliness and site preparation. Local users looking for "camping near me" should inquire about the specific services offered at their chosen site and the current standards of cleanliness and maintenance.
The features of Raysville McDuffie Campground include waterfront campsites, as exemplified by the praised Site 32. The presence of a grill at some campsites is mentioned, although their cleanliness upon arrival seems to be inconsistent. The availability of a bathhouse, albeit old, provides a basic amenity for campers. The campground's location near water offers the potential for scenic views and wildlife observation, such as the eagles mentioned. However, the steep terrain leading to the water at some sites might be considered a challenging feature for some visitors. The recent negative feedback points to a potential decline in overall upkeep, with reports of trash around campsites and along roadways, as well as noise issues after quiet hours and smoking in the bathhouse. These issues could detract from the features that might have made the campground appealing in the past. Local users seeking "camping near me" should weigh the potential for beautiful waterfront views against the reported issues with cleanliness and noise when considering Raysville McDuffie Campground.
The provided reviews do not contain any information about promotional offers at Raysville McDuffie Campground. Local users interested in potential discounts for local residents, seasonal specials, or any other promotions will need to inquire directly with the campground management. It is common for campgrounds to offer various deals, especially during off-peak seasons or for extended stays, so it would be worthwhile to contact them at (706) 699-6257 or +1 706-699-6257 to ask about any current or upcoming promotions that could make a stay more appealing from a cost perspective for those searching for "camping near me."
In conclusion, Raysville McDuffie Campground offers the potential for a scenic "camping near me" experience with beautiful waterfront views and wildlife spotting opportunities, as highlighted by the positive experience at Campsite 32. However, recent customer reviews raise significant concerns about the cleanliness of the campsites and the overall grounds since the change in management to McDuffie County. Reports of uncleaned sites, litter, noise issues, and smoking in the bathhouse should be carefully considered by local users looking for a weekend getaway. While the bathhouse is reportedly kept clean, its age might be a factor for some. Potential visitors are strongly advised to contact the campground directly to inquire about the current conditions, services, and any available promotional offers. It would also be prudent to seek more recent reviews from other sources to get a broader perspective before making a decision about camping at Raysville McDuffie Campground.

Raysville McDuffie Campground Reviews
Campsite 32. A beautiful site over looking the water. We were able to spot 2 eagles that live across the way. The view is stunning! The only downside is getting to the water. It's a steep hill which makes it difficult although my children found a way. The bath house is old but they keep it clean and mopped. Bring your own toiletries and flip flops.
Apr 04, 2025 · Michelle Arienzo DanielI have reviewed this campground on several occasions but felt it necessary to do it again . First I would love to give 2.5 stars simply because this has been our go to since we started camping 11 years ago. It has always been nice, quiet and most of all clean. Well things change. We noticed when Mcduffie county took over there was more trash along the roadways. Sites not cleaned when we arrived and overall more noise in the campground. This trip out has been the worst to date. When we arrived we found used toilet paper around the edge of the campsite , aluminum cans in fire pit and a grill that had not been cleaned out. A lot of cans and bottles were seen along roads during our walks. I know sometimes host often work other jobs and do major site cleanings on the day or two before the busy weekend but our site was a surprise. This does not necessarily reflect the host but the type of people who are now staying here. Some of the bad behavior seen so far since we have been here. Trash around campsite and in drives, dogs barking and left on leads all night, loud camp setup after quite time hours and this morning walked into a smoked filled bath house. Not sure what changed when Mcduffie county took over , and sure they have more people here than we have seen in the past but it sure gives me second thoughts when looking for a site for a weekend get away. We will start looking at other campground options for weekend getaways close to home after this trip, I hope it improves.
Jun 15, 2024 · Swain KeatonRaysville Campground definitely deserves a 5-star review from me! I call this MY Area 51, and it was my very first camping experience. Despite the rain, I loved my cozy setup. This month, I'm focused on my mental health, and this retreat was just what I needed. Huge thanks to my best friend Ashlie for this optimistic adventure; it was an exhilarating experience! If you haven't tried camping at least once, it's a MUST‼️. A truly humbling and refreshing experience. 🌲✨ Encouraging everyone to #stayfocused™️🌊 on the mindset shift and choose the best for themselves as part of the Get to the Core process! Stay Tuned🥳
May 04, 2024 · GTTC InnovationsI was personally shown several beautiful camp sites by Mr Reid and couldn't have been happier with the choice I made. He took the time to tell me about local restaurants and nearby shopping ..I am from out of town and this made things easier. Thanks to his help and the overall great experience at the park I will be back and will bring friends. Such great service is lacking in the work force these days. KUDOS job well done...
