Red Oak Campground Introduce
For local users in the Baraboo, Wisconsin area seeking "camping near me," Red Oak Campground, located at S2350 Timothy Ln, presents a destination with both appealing natural aspects and some potential drawbacks to consider. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground offers convenient access and a friendly atmosphere, but prospective visitors should be aware of potential noise and privacy issues depending on their campsite location.
The environment of Red Oak Campground is described as having "big beautiful campsites," suggesting ample space for setting up tents or parking RVs. One particularly enchanting aspect highlighted by a reviewer was the presence of numerous lightning bugs at their site, creating a "magical" atmosphere. This indicates that the natural surroundings can be quite appealing, especially during times when bioluminescent insects are active. The reviewer also noted the absence of "annoying bugs," which is a significant plus for any camping experience. However, it's important to note that the campground is "super close to the highway," which, while not an issue for some, does result in "audible" traffic noise, potentially affecting light sleepers. This proximity to a major road offers convenience but may detract from the sense of complete natural seclusion.
In terms of services, Red Oak Campground offers the significant convenience of being "open 24/7," which can be particularly beneficial for travelers arriving late. The host is described as "very friendly and accommodating," suggesting a welcoming and helpful management. The availability of "great prices" is also mentioned as a positive service aspect, making it an affordable option for local campers. While specific amenities such as restrooms, showers, or hookups are not detailed in these reviews, the fact that it's a campground implies the presence of basic facilities. However, the second review mentions a pool and a volleyball court, indicating the availability of recreational amenities on-site, although their proximity to certain campsites can be a source of noise.
The features of Red Oak Campground include its large campsites and the potential for experiencing natural wonders like abundant lightning bugs. The 24/7 accessibility is a notable feature for travelers with flexible arrival times. The friendly host contributes to a positive and welcoming atmosphere. The affordability of the campground makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious campers. However, there are also features that some visitors might find less desirable. The proximity to the highway results in audible traffic noise, which could be a concern for light sleepers. Additionally, one reviewer experienced a lack of privacy due to being placed on a "corner lot" where "everyone walked through our site." This suggests that the layout of some campsites might not offer optimal seclusion. Furthermore, the presence of a neighbor's dog that was "never on a leash" and had to be repeatedly shooed away was a significant issue for one couple. The noise from the pool and volleyball court was also cited as a reason to recommend a site in the back of the campground to avoid sleep disruption.
Promotional information is somewhat mixed based on the provided reviews. The positive aspects, such as the friendly and accommodating host, big and beautiful campsites, the magical experience with lightning bugs, the absence of annoying bugs, and the great prices, all serve as strong promotional points. The 24/7 accessibility is another feature that could attract travelers with late arrivals. The overall recommendation from one reviewer ("Definitely recommend and we’ll be back") is a significant endorsement. However, the negative experiences regarding the lack of privacy on corner lots, the issue with an unleashed dog, and the noise from the highway and recreational areas present challenges to straightforward promotion. Potential visitors need to weigh these factors based on their individual preferences and priorities.
The proximity to the highway, while a source of noise for some, could also be seen as a point of convenience for those seeking easy access to and from the campground and surrounding areas of Baraboo. The mention of being "super close to the highway" suggests that it's likely easily reachable. The fact that one couple, despite the highway noise, still found it to be a "nice little campground" indicates that the other positive aspects might outweigh this for some visitors. However, the privacy issue on corner lots and the problem with an unleashed dog are more significant concerns that the campground management should likely address to ensure a more consistent and positive experience for all guests.
In conclusion, for local users in the Baraboo, Wisconsin area looking for "camping near me," Red Oak Campground offers the convenience of 24/7 access, a friendly host, and spacious campsites that can be quite beautiful, especially with the enchanting presence of lightning bugs. The affordable prices also make it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers. However, prospective visitors should be aware of the audible traffic noise due to its proximity to the highway. Additionally, depending on the assigned campsite, there may be issues with privacy, particularly on corner lots. The potential for noise from the pool and volleyball court, especially for sites located in the front, is another factor to consider. Finally, the issue with unleashed pets from neighboring sites could be a concern for some. Therefore, while Red Oak Campground has its charms and conveniences, local users should carefully consider these potential drawbacks and perhaps request a site away from the highway and recreational areas, and not on a corner, when making their reservations to maximize their comfort and privacy.

Red Oak Campground Reviews
We got here late and they are open 24/7. Very friendly and accommodating host. Big beautiful campsites and we were lucky enough to have ours filled with lightning bugs. It was magical. None of the annoying bugs either. Only thing is if you’re a light sleeper traffic is audible. Oh and great prices too! Definitely recommend and we’ll be back.
Jun 30, 2024 · Jennifer GolovkineWas a nice little campground. Super close to the highway which isn't a issue for us. What bothered my husband and I. Is that it's our 5 year anniversary. We where put on a corner lot everyone walked through our site we had NO PRIVACY. Also our neighbors had a dog that never was on a leash so we always had to shoo it back to it's owners. Also would recommend a site in the back not the front you get no sleep due to the pool and volleyball court
Aug 04, 2024 · Kayla RutherfordWe stayed here last year and it was good. Pool we didn't use, but looked to be well maintained. It is unmanned so you will have to be there with your kids. The modern bathrooms were fine and waaaay better than pit toilets. Our site was HUGE! Will be requesting the same site this year. Only complaint is the radios of other guests were a bit loud at times. We left a day early because we were exhausted from our activities (family reunion and all the miles we drove and had to drive) away from the campground. Pet friendly. Wallyworld and other shopping nearby. Minutes from Baraboo and the Dells. Used to stay at State Parks but they have gotten so expensive with all of the added fees especially for out of staters. As for highway noise try staying at Rocky Arbor State Park. The noise at that park is 10x louder than this place. It's a campground people NOT the Ritz.
Jul 04, 2024 · Michelle HembdGreat camping location! Went in September after Labor Day and it was very peaceful and quiet at the grounds. There are public bathrooms, showers, and a washer/dryer. There is firewood for sale here as well. Very close to the Wisconsin Dells area with lots to do. Can't wait to return!
Mar 25, 2024 · Alyssa LWe’ve been going to this campground for over 20 years and we still LOVE it! Yes, it’s not a bare-foot bathroom area I don’t walk bare feet in my house either anyway so to me wearing flip flops in the bathroom is NO big deal. The pool is a nice size, the playground is nice for kids and the volleyball court for adults. The point of camping is to enjoy yourself and your family/friends.
