Rendezvous Beach

Rendezvous Beach Rd, Laketown, UT 84038, USA

Stayed one night at Birch campground two weeks before Memorial Day weekend. Only a dozen or so campers so plenty of sites were available. Fees: $25 for tent site, $30 for non-resident. Electric/water sites at $30 resident, $35 non-resident. Many level sites with some mature trees for shade, overlooking a narrow strip of sandy beach. No real access to the water unless you trek across a marshy area or drive to the day-use section. View of the lake was spectacular and the wildlife amazing, especially the water fowl: two American storks, terns, Canadian geese, and lots of magpies, which gave the area a magical ambiance. And I saw my first sandhill crane here, which contributed greatly to my experience! Unfortunately, the campground bordered a cattle yard so the noise and smell were a little off-putting. Also, the shower facility was unclean, buggy, and the water barely tepid. The electrical outlets in restroom did not work. Would not camp here again but there were still so many things to appreciate. Maybe it’ll get better during the busy season? I hope so. - laura r

Rendezvous Beach Introduce

Searching for "camping near me" in the vicinity of Laketown, Utah? Rendezvous Beach, situated on Rendezvous Beach Rd, Laketown, UT 84038, USA, offers a lakeside camping experience on the shores of Bear Lake. Based on recent camper reviews, this location presents a mix of appealing natural features and some drawbacks that potential visitors should carefully consider.

One of the most consistently praised aspects of Rendezvous Beach is its spectacular view of Bear Lake. Campers have highlighted the beauty of the lake and the overall scenic ambiance of the area. For those seeking "camping near me" with breathtaking water views, Rendezvous Beach certainly seems to deliver on this front.

Wildlife enthusiasts may also find Rendezvous Beach appealing. One reviewer recounted an impressive array of water fowl sightings, including two American storks, terns, Canadian geese, and numerous magpies, which they felt contributed to a "magical ambiance." Additionally, this camper had the memorable experience of seeing their first sandhill crane at this location. The abundance of wildlife suggests a rich natural environment surrounding the campground, offering opportunities for birdwatching and nature appreciation.

In terms of campsite variety and features, Rendezvous Beach appears to cater to both tent and RV campers. One reviewer who stayed at the Birch campground noted the availability of both tent sites and electric/water sites. The fees mentioned were $25 for a tent site for residents ($30 for non-residents) and $30 for electric/water sites for residents ($35 for non-residents). It's important to note that these prices were from a stay two weeks before Memorial Day weekend, so they might be subject to change, especially during peak season.

The Birch campground was described as having "many level sites with some mature trees for shade," which is a significant advantage for campers seeking comfort and relief from the sun. However, access to the water from these sites appears to be somewhat limited. The reviewer noted "no real access to the water unless you trek across a marshy area or drive to the day-use section." This is a crucial point for those specifically looking for "camping near me" with easy, direct access to the lake for swimming or other water activities. The narrow strip of sandy beach mentioned might not be directly accessible or suitable for all campers.

Another reviewer provided insights into the RV and tent site configurations. They noted a "large number of electric RV sites with no shade" and "a handful of walk-in tent sites with scant shade." This suggests that RV campers might have access to necessary hookups but could experience limited shade, while tent campers might have to carry their gear a short distance to potentially shaded but less amenity-rich sites. The photos mentioned in this review reportedly show each tent site having a numbered, extra-wide parking spot, with the farthest tent sites (20 and 21) being nicely shaded but located 200 feet from the parking area.

Despite the positive aspects like lake views and wildlife, several significant drawbacks were also highlighted by the reviewers. One of the most concerning issues was the proximity of the campground to a "cattle yard," resulting in "noise and smell" that were described as "a little off-putting." This is a factor that could significantly impact the overall camping experience, particularly for those sensitive to noise or odors.

Cleanliness of the facilities was another area of concern. The shower facility was described as "unclean, buggy, and the water barely tepid." Additionally, the electrical outlets in the restroom were reported as not working. These issues with the hygiene and functionality of the campground facilities could be a major deterrent for many potential campers seeking "camping near me" with basic comfort and convenience.

One reviewer, despite appreciating the natural beauty and wildlife, stated they "would not camp here again" due to the noted issues, but hoped the campground might improve during the busy season. This suggests that the experience might vary depending on the time of year and the level of maintenance during peak occupancy.

Based on the available reviews, Rendezvous Beach offers a location with stunning lake views and abundant wildlife, which are significant draws for nature lovers. However, potential campers should be aware of the limited direct water access from some campsites, the potential for noise and odor from a nearby cattle yard, and reported issues with the cleanliness and functionality of the shower and restroom facilities. The availability of shade also seems to vary depending on the type of campsite (RV vs. tent) and its specific location within the campground.

To obtain the most up-to-date information on services, features, and any potential improvements or promotional offers, it is crucial to contact Rendezvous Beach directly at (435) 946-3343 or +1 435-946-3343. When inquiring, you might want to ask about:

  • **Water Access:** Get detailed information about the easiest and closest access points to the lake for swimming or other activities from various campsites.
  • **Facility Cleanliness:** Ask about the current status and cleaning schedule for the restrooms and showers.
  • **Noise and Odor:** Inquire if the issue with the nearby cattle yard is ongoing or if any measures have been taken to mitigate the noise and smell.

  • **Fees and Reservations:** Get current pricing for different types of sites, residency discounts, and their reservation policies, especially for peak season.

In conclusion, Rendezvous Beach offers a picturesque lakeside setting with notable natural attractions. However, potential visitors searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider the reported limitations regarding water access from some sites, the potential for noise and odor, and the concerns about facility cleanliness. Direct communication with the campground is essential to get the most current information and determine if the benefits of the location outweigh the potential drawbacks for your specific camping needs.
