Cisco Beach Campground

Cisco Beach Rd, Laketown, UT 84038, USA

4.0
Camped here for two nights. Great campground with easy access to the clear blue waters of Bear lake. Great views, cold lake water. The only downsides I thought of for this campground is there are very few trees for shade. That said there are many campgrounds with built in awnings. Also, the campground is very rocky so driving steaks to full depth can be challenging. Get here early - Thursday at latest if you want your pick of campgrounds rather than leftovers. - Justin Crapps

Cisco Beach Campground Introduce

For local users searching within the 'camping near me' category, Cisco Beach Campground, located on Cisco Beach Rd, Laketown, UT 84038, USA, offers a unique camping experience with direct access to the stunning clear blue waters of Bear Lake. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground provides a picturesque setting and essential amenities for a memorable stay, although potential visitors should be aware of certain environmental conditions and the campground's features.

One camper who stayed for two nights highlighted the "great campground with easy access to the clear blue waters of Bear lake" and praised the "great views." The allure of Bear Lake, known for its remarkable turquoise color, is a primary draw for this location. The easy access to the lake suggests opportunities for swimming, boating, and other water-based activities right from the campground. However, the reviewer also noted that the lake water is "cold," which is typical of mountain lakes and something to be aware of for those planning to swim.

A significant environmental factor mentioned is the scarcity of trees, resulting in "very few trees for shade." This is an important consideration, especially during the hot summer months. The reviewer did point out that "there are many campgrounds with built in awnings," implying that some campsites are equipped with shade structures, which could mitigate the lack of natural shade. It would be prudent for prospective campers to inquire about the availability of these awnings when making reservations.

Another practical consideration raised by the same reviewer is the very rocky terrain of the campground, which can make "driving steaks to full depth...challenging." Campers planning to use tents or secure equipment with stakes should be prepared for this condition and might need to bring heavy-duty stakes or alternative anchoring methods.

For those seeking a prime campsite, the reviewer advised arriving early, suggesting "Thursday at latest if you want your pick of campgrounds rather than leftovers." This indicates that Cisco Beach Campground is a popular destination, especially during peak season and weekends, and early booking or arrival is recommended to secure a preferred spot.

Another camper who dry camped in a 30ft RV provided additional insights into the campground's amenities and conditions. For non-residents, the dry camping fee was $20. The reviewer noted the presence of "lots of vault toilets, which were clean," indicating that basic sanitation facilities are available and well-maintained. Each site also features "shelters with picnic table and fire rings," providing essential infrastructure for outdoor living, cooking, and gathering.

This reviewer also mentioned that they "had the place to ourselves," which could suggest that their visit was during an off-peak time or that certain sections of the campground were less crowded. However, they expressed disappointment with "the amount of rubbish in the camp sites and along the beach," especially considering the availability of "plenty of dumpsters." This suggests a potential issue with littering by some visitors, which could impact the overall appeal of the environment. It also implies that while waste disposal is provided, adherence to Leave No Trace principles might vary among campers.

A crucial piece of information for RVers is that Cisco Beach Campground does not have a "dumpstation." This means that RVs needing to empty their holding tanks will need to do so at another facility before arriving or after leaving the campground. This is an important logistical consideration for anyone planning to camp with a recreational vehicle.

Combining these reviews, Cisco Beach Campground offers a compelling experience primarily due to its access to Bear Lake's beauty and the provision of essential camping amenities. Key features and considerations include:

  • **Direct Access to Bear Lake:** Enjoy swimming, boating, and the stunning views of the clear blue water.
  • **Vault Toilets:** Clean and readily available sanitation facilities.
  • **Shelters with Picnic Tables and Fire Rings:** Each campsite is equipped for outdoor dining and campfires.
  • **Dry Camping:** The campground primarily offers dry camping (no water or electrical hookups at individual sites), with a $20 fee for non-residents (the fee structure for residents is not mentioned).
  • **Limited Shade:** The scarcity of trees means campers should be prepared for sun exposure or rely on site awnings if available.
  • **Rocky Terrain:** Driving tent stakes can be challenging due to the rocky ground.
  • **No Dump Station:** RVers need to manage their waste tanks elsewhere.
  • **Potential for Litter:** Some areas might have issues with rubbish left by previous campers.
  • **Popular Destination:** Arriving early, especially on weekends and during peak season, is recommended to secure a good campsite.

For local users searching for 'camping near me' who prioritize lake access and basic camping infrastructure, Cisco Beach Campground is a viable option. The lack of shade and the rocky ground are environmental factors to consider, and RVers must plan for dry camping and the absence of a dump station. The reported cleanliness of the vault toilets and the provision of shelters and fire rings are positives. The issue of litter, while concerning, might vary depending on the time of visit and the responsibility of other campers.

Currently, no specific promotional information is available in the provided reviews. To obtain details about camping fees for residents and non-residents, reservation policies, the availability of campsites with awnings, and any specific regulations or recommendations for dealing with the rocky terrain, interested campers should contact Cisco Beach Campground directly at (435) 946-3343 or +1 435-946-3343.

In conclusion, Cisco Beach Campground offers a fantastic location for experiencing the beauty of Bear Lake. Its basic amenities cater to dry camping, and the presence of shelters and fire rings enhances the outdoor living experience. Potential campers should be prepared for limited shade and rocky ground, and RVers should note the absence of a dump station. Despite the concern about litter, the overall appeal of camping with easy access to Bear Lake and its stunning views makes Cisco Beach Campground a worthwhile consideration for your next 'camping near me' adventure in Laketown, Utah. Remember to call ahead for reservations and to inquire about site-specific features like awnings.
